ACT XVI: BRAINWASHED

"Wiping the memories clean."

Edgar gasped for air as he awoke from the pain of the deep wound. Still dizzy from a long sleep, he opened his eye. The light from the ceiling blinded him. As he tries to cover his eyes with his palms he realizes that he was shackled to his bed. His head was hooked up with many wires connected to a monitor that was displaying "SIMULATION SUSPENDED". He tries to free himself but was stopped by the piercing pain from his bleeding chest.

"There is no way out, Cumber. All that you have seen is the work of your technology. I win. Trying to rescue your dear nephew is the stupidest thing you did there. After all, if there was one thing I understand now is that no matter how hard a man is, his conscience will be much stronger. You're such a waste, if you just did what I exactly want you to do, your little nephew will go home in one piece. But because of your arrogance that chance is pretty non-existent now." Cooper grinned at him.

"What did you do to her?! I will not forgive you for everything! I am the one whom you want not her, just let her get home!" Edgar angrily shouted at him.

"Now, now! Calm down old friend or you'll just speed things up. Now go to sleep. She'll be there. She'll be there." He laughs maniacally as he turns on the machine. "Goodbye, partner."

Edgar slowly faded out of reality as he hears the monitor, "SIMULATION RESTARTED".
