The Ark Of Shortened Task

"So what did you want to tell us?" asked Baldwin.

"We found that we are only taking up the next three days to complete our task. The main reason why the area looked out of place was that all of its Time Frames were happening all at once. But because it was out of its specific Time Period, it was much easier for me to fix everything."

Bryan looked at Raiyen with question marks hovering above his head. The Time Mage wanted to elaborate more but Mavislin beat him to it.

"We needed a week because Raiyen had to gather other Time Frames of the building to perform the spell. But because we were given the Frames right off the bat, we don't have to spend much time. Once Raiyen is done with the rest of the buildings, we can focus on the next step."

"Yea... But why would it be easier to rearrange all the Time Frames in our Time? I thought you said touching the building out of its proper Time would result in consequences?" asked Bryan.

"I'm a Time Mage, go figure. And think of it this way, when you get stressed, what do you normally do?" asked Raiyen, facing Bryan.

"I take a step back?"

"Correct. Thus, the same idea implies. By taking it out of its Time Period, I had an easier time to gather and arrange the Time Frames without harming anything or anyone."

With that last sentence being said, Tomoe slowly woke up. He blinked a few times in confusion as he looked at Mavislin with his big round eyes. He didn't know if he should feel relieved that it was Mavislin, not Ysabeau holding him.

Or that he should be afraid of his master who was upset for some reason. And seeing that he has just recovered from nearly seeing the afterlife, Tomoe was not taking any chances. Just as he opened his mouth to say something, Rina came running towards the group, holding Kai.

But as she got closer, Mavislin realized a horde of children behind the Butterfly Mage. When Rina reached the group, she quickly hid behind the Valkyrie with a dazed and confused Kai.

"What's wrong?! Why does Kai look like he went through a flying trip with Fluffy?" asked Mavislin, turning around to look at Rina.

Poor Kai, who was seeing stars.

"I may have accidentally shown my wings to the kids... Now, they won't stop pulling on it!" complained Rina, afraid of the little things in front of her.

Mavislin sighed and drew up to her full height. Her eyes shined gold while her iconic wings blossomed. However, instead of being one solid color with a hue outlining the two wings, her wings bore a different look.

First off, the color wasn't solid, it was changing. It looked like an optical illusion, with shades of all colors blending across the wings. Her Elemental Aura fluctuated and appeared, surrounding her entire figure. In place of gold, her Aura was now as colorful as her wings.

It was truly a sight to behold. All the kids stopped their rampage and looked up at the Valkyrie.

"My... My! Looks like we've got some curious tots who love to chase after pretty girls! Now then, let's see if you can keep up to me!" exclaimed Mavislin, making her way to the Old Chapel.

As she made her way back, the kids began to follow her. Tomoe stood up, only to realize that Raiyen had returned.

"Heard you willingly destroyed your fans? You're not one to sacrifice such precious things that easily," asked Raiyen, tilting his head.

"Well, they were of no use to me. It was about time to get new ones, they are more than a century old. Gotta keep up with the latest equipment," explained Tomoe, grinning.

"After all, that kid is the next generation of Mages. Having a human family but coming from Magecraft roots... The possibilities are endless. There's no knowing how powerful they can be. If we are going to stay relevant, we better sharpen our weapons and brush up our skills."

"They might just end up succeeding us one day..." finished Tomoe.

Raiyen agreed and glanced at Baldwin, who nodded. Bryan scratched his head while Rina smiled. While they made a beeline back to the main house, Bryan decided to let out some of his thoughts and questions.

"Hey... Why do you refer to me as the 'next generation of Mages'? What does that mean?" asked Bryan, facing Raiyen since Baldwin's intense gaze was too much for him to handle.

"Well, it means what it means. You have human and Mage blood pumping in you. Normally, it would kill any human. And yet, you're still standing here, asking me questions. Isn't that remarkable?"

"I guess so... So I'm the second generation?"
