Melody raised her eyebrows at this seemingly magical scene. She couldn't expect that something as cool as this could be done here.
Of course though, previously Melody had turned the receptionist's hair different colours, but she had felt sort of faint and dizzy from that. Melody, feeling her phone in her pocket suddenly had an epiphany. Her newfound magical powers must've been somehow transmitted from her phone.
She wasn't sure how this worked, but at the moment it was the only viable explanation that she had.
The principal looked at her and smiled "I'm sure you'll be happy there at the academy. You get all sorts of benefits."
Benefits. Melody wasn't sure if she wanted benefits. She had always made it a goal to experience magic in her new life, but she wasn't sure if being forced to move to a new school would make it any different. Either way, she wasn't really attatched to the one that she had been assigned… but still. Didn't moving her to a new school just because she had some abilities seem sort of overboard?
She shrugged her thoughts off and nodded to the principal. Benefits could help with her life. They surely would. Melody checked the time and quickly realised that all this had taken a while, and she needed to enter the bookstore to work.
Luckily, the principal cleared out after a while, so she was able to walk to the bookstore in no time at all. Melody arrived there promptly and did her shift. She didn't see the old man at all and was being guided by one of the elder staff members.
Of course, he was there. Melody heard a voice in her ear. "Fascinating."
She jumped at the sudden noise and turned around. The bookstore wasn't extremely small, it was around the size of a typical bookstore back at Earth. The old man had been watching her and completely avoiding her vision.
"You acquired magic powers in this way…"
She turned towards the old man, slightly confused. Her hypothesis on whether or not the phone had given her magic powers was still valid, but she'd prefer if somebody had confirmed it in her.
"Y'know young lady, I was planning to awaken your dormant powers myself, but it looks like someone else got to that already"
Dormant powers? She had dormant powers? She sighed and thought about all the things that had been happening to her so far.
She transmigrated to a new world, met 'so called immortals' on a chatroom, gotten mysterious magic powers that were rare even in her new world…
All of this, and Melody finally told her mind to deactivate and relax. This old man was probably out of his minds. He asked her for an interview through touching a ball, the man was nuts.
Melody continued her job of placing books on the shelf, pretending to listen to her boss. She liked the man next to her, but reality had hit her hard, and she realised how absurd these couple of days had been. She felt slightly tired adapting to it so quickly. But what could she do?
After a couple more hours of stacking books and sorting new ones out, she finally was off the shift. Melody trudged her way towards home, eager to relax after a shift of work. She found her phone have a notification soon though, and it was from the chatroom of the Immortals that had teleported herself to this place.
