Chapter 19

Audrey being interviewed in her ex publishing house was one thing for her. Working there was another. But then being Interviewed by him, her ex, was a whole new level.

Audrey dressed co-operately in the suit Michael had brought out for her. It was a black suit. The back skirt stopped a little above her thighs and it clung to her hips like a second skin. She neatly tucked in the white shirt then she flung the suit on her shoulders.

She loved the way she looked wearing the suit. She couldn't stop staring at her reflection in the mirror. Her appearance gave her a little more confidence.

Audrey adorned her ears with a diamond earring then she wore her killer heels to complete the look.

'She would show them who is boss' She whispered to herself feeling ever confident.

Audrey entered the huge building that served as Lucas publishing house a few minutes later.

She was greeted by stares from all the workers, they looked at her like she was a ghost.

Their stares made her immobile at first. She didn't know what to do when so many people kept staring at her. She lost the ability move her limbs.

Yes, her face had been all over the papers the last six months, but it didn't mean that they should stare at her like she was an alien.

Finally ignoring their stares Audrey walked further into the building. The receptionist was so nice to her and Lucas secretary was even nicer.

They both had the face that screamed what is Audrey Harrington doing Interviewing for a job when she could very well own her own publishing house. Maybe not as successful as Lucas publishing house, but successful either way

They had tried to cut corners for her to enable her go in first for the interview but she insisted that she would wait her turn. Audrey did that not only because she wanted to be nice but because her heart was in her mouth. When they could not convince her otherwise they stood at a distance watching her.

"She is so beautiful." The secretary whispered to the receptionist.

"And nice. I hope boss accepts her." The receptionist whispered back. "But even if he does I don't think she will be able to work with him."

"Let's wait and see. Maybe she will change him."

The secretary scoffed. "I doubt! Lucas is a mean devil. Someone as powerful as Audrey may not be able to stand him."

"She looks pretty nice. Maybe she will." The receptionist insisted. "But for now let me go back to my duty post before boss sees me here and sacks me."

"I'm going too."

With that said they both scurried away from the waiting room leaving Audrey alone to battle with her racing heart.
