Sky High

Logan: "Why am I doing this again?" Logan asked for what he felt was the hundredth time.

Glynda: "Like I said before. There has been a massive concentration of Grimm located in Vale's Southwest." Glynda said as she re-briefed Logan as they flew Southwest in a bullhead. "Ozpin asked you to recon the area and eliminate any problematic Grimm you may encounter."

Logan: "And why did I agree to this?" Logan griped as he held his face in his hands.

Glynda: "Well, you did say that you've been feeling stressed." Glynda commented. "Plus, with your mentality you don't really get along with others. I'm actually surprised that you haven't blown up at any of them."

Logan: "I know!" Logan said "I can't believe it either. Anyway, why are you with me? I don't think Ozpin would send you to watch over me."

Glynda: "Vacuo. The CCT has been rather odd lately. With the upcoming Vytal festival, we need to be sure that everything's in order." Glynda answered as she tapped away on her tablet.

Logan: "*Annoyed Sigh* Why do I have the feeling that I gonna have to deal with that?"

Glynda: "Hopefully you won't." Glynda replied without looking up from her tablet. "Professor Pietro Polendina will be coming to see what the problem is. According to Atlas, he's their finest mind and best scientist they have."

Logan: "Polendina?" Logan mumbles to himself. "Oh, I remember him! Overly nice man, and yes he is a very brilliant mind."

Glynda: "You've met him?" Glynda asked as she looked up from her tablet. "I thought you never been to Atlas?"

Logan: "Ya, I never been to Atlas." Logan said with a smirk. "When I was twelve, I heard about Atlas's Faunus discrimination and hacked into their systems. I did it mainly out of boredom. Anyway, as I was about to force all their screens and speakers to play Rick Roll, he found me and hack into my scroll. After explaining myself, he wanted in as he despised it as well. Not only that, he even helped me do it without it coming back to me or him. A full 24 hour loop and no way to stop it" Logan spoke as he reminisced about that prank and Ironwood pulling his hair out due to it.

Glynda: "That was you!" Glynda shouted, then a very happy smirk appeared on her face. "That stunt damn near drove James mad and he didn't sleep for a week afterward."

Logan: "Hehe, I can be very petty." Logan said with a similar smirk.

As the two of them shared a moment of joy at the cost of Ironwood's mental stability, the pilot spoke through the intercom.

Pilot: "Alrighty, for the one who's getting off at Southwest Vale Forest, we are about five minutes out and roughly 25,000 feet above the ground."

Logan just nodded to Glynda and stood up. Getting to the intercom, Logan spoke to the pilot and asked her to open the cargo bay doors. Needless to say, he got an ear full from her.

Pilot: "Are you crazy? And what are you gonna do after you leave? Fly?!?"

Logan: "...Yes. I have wings."

Pilot: "... I walked into that one didn't I?. Okay, doors are gonna open in a minute. Get down there. After ten seconds, she shutting!"

Logan said ok and headed off to gather his things. Waving bye to Glynda, Logan got down into the dark cargo bay. As he reached the doors, Logan did a once over of himself making sure that every thing he was wearing was either tightly strapped down to his body or put away in his [Inventory].

Not long after Logan was done checking, the cargo bay doors began to open. The sunlight streamed in, illuminating everything around Logan and him included. The air whipped around him and tried to suck him and the cargo out. With a little smile and hop, Logan let himself be suck out into the cold winds and plummet into the ground.

As Logan was in free fall, he took in the sight of the massive forest below him that stretch for miles and miles. Fanning himself out, Logan slowed himself down as he looked for a landing point. Finding a decent clearing and angling himself towards it, Logan dived while unfurling his wings. Tucking his wings in as close as he could to his body, Logan fell faster then before.

At around five hundred feet, Logan spread his wings as wide as he could. Forcibly losing his speed and starting flap his wings to help keep his height. Around four hundred feet is when Logan stabilized and fly with grace.

Not long after, Logan landed in a smallish clearing surrounded by several large boulders. Nodding his head after surveying the area, Logan got to work making a makeshift shelter. Starting with some nearby trees. Cutting down a few trees, Logan then quickly turned them into rough sawn planks and wooden nails. After, he moved them over to a group of boulders. Moving with practiced ease, Logan made a rough wood and stone house in about an hour of work.

Logan: 'Well, that was easy.' Logan thought as he gazed upon his new temporary home. 'A solid wood roof, strong stone walls, and a smooth wood floor curtsy of my fire. The door is solid wood and stone as well, and all that's missing is a bed! Good thing I brought my cot.'

Just as Logan was enjoying the sight of his craftsmanship, he felt a sharp poke his back. Whipping around, Logan knocked the blade away while pulling out his [Crescent Moons] (Pistols x Daggers). Turning one into its dagger form while keeping the other in its pistol form, Logan quickly got into his fighting stance. But when he saw who held the blade, his only thought was shit.

Raven: "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" Raven Branwen said as she stood in front of several of her tribesmen. "A little birdy, out here all alone." Her elaborate Grimm mask under her arm. She was dressed in her usual red and black shallow cut dress with black shorts underneath, black stockings and red and black heels.

Logan: "Hello, Raven." Logan greeted as he dropped his stance, but not his guard. "I thought you and your tribe skulked around Mistral, not out here in Vale" Logan's Blue eyes looking directly at her red ones.

Raven: "Personal business, little bird." Raven answered him as she sheathed her blade. "But if you must know, I'm tracking a rival tribe that attack our territory. What about you?"

Logan: "Too many Grimm were spotted around here, I was tasked with recon and elimination. Plus, it serves as a stress reliever for me." Logan answered her. "What did that tribe do to you?"

Raven: "Attack a patrol, killed a few, took the rest." Raven said as she began to walk away, Logan followed a few steps behind. "The report of the group that found them, was disturbing to say the least."

Logan: "Humor me."

Raven: "The few that died were made into 'Blood Eagles', and they're the ones who got off lucky." Raven began as she lead the way. "The ones that got it worse were the three females of the group. While being recorded, they were r*ped, skinned, then eaten alive by their pet Grimm."

Logan nearly threw up at the mere thought of what happened to them. But the comment of pet Grimm got him confused.

Logan: "Grimm can't be tamed, nor can they be kept in captivity for long." Logan argued back while trying to keep his lunch.

Raven: "I know that as well!" Raven yelled at Logan. "I don't know how or why they can, but they will die when I find them!" Raven shout as her voiced was laced with venom. "Each one of them will regret the day they dared to screw with my tribe!"

Logan kept quiet after Raven's little outburst as they made their way to Raven's camp. Logan kept his [Crescent Moons] holstered as he made his way through the camp with Raven. In sighting looks of sneers, hatred, and pity. Logan ignored them for the most part as Raven lead the way to a larger tent then the ones around. In front of the tent stood a young tanned women with short brown hair and ice blue eyes. Logan identified her immediately as Vernal.

Vernal nodded at Raven then opened the tent for her. As Logan went to enter, Vernal stopped him and held her hand out. Logan, getting the message, handed over [Crescent Moons] to her then entered in. Inside, Raven was already sitting at a low table, Logan then joined her as Vernal entered behind him. The interior was sparse but well furnished.

Vernal got started making tea for them both while the two of them sat in silence. A few minutes later, Vernal served Logan and Raven tea in tall cylinder cups, then sat down behind Raven. Not bothering to talk, Logan and Raven drank their tea in silence. Both of them closing their eyes as they drank.

Logan: "Well, the way I see this going is one of a few ways." Logan said after a few minutes. "One, I can leave you to handle this by yourself with your tribe. The issue with this is that I'll have to write a report about you when I get back." Logan said with one eye open.

Raven: "True." Raven said, now that she calmed down somewhat. She kept her eyes closed.

Logan: "Two, you and your tribe leave and make me handle it all."

Raven: "Never gonna happen." Raven said, not letting Logan say what the issue would be or continue.

Logan: "Three, and this is the one that benefits us both." Logan started out with. "We help each other out in our endeavors. I help you get your revenge and you help me deal with the Grimm issue. I don't report you and your tribe and I can relax for the time I was given for this mission."

Raven: "I agree with the third option, as it would benefit us both." Raven said, as she now looked at Logan. "But, seriously? YOU, of all people, are stressed? What do they have you doing at that school?"

Logan: "I was given a class to teach." Logan said as he sipped his tea. "After the first class, I was bombarded by countless questions for future lessons. If it wasn't for the face I can hide in plain sight, I would be failing classes left and right."

Raven and Vernal just laughed at Logan's misery. Logan didn't care and refilled his tea cup as he waited for them to stop. Once the two of them calmed down, Logan and Raven got to work making a deal for the next few days. Raven would be kind enough to let Logan sleep in her campground and give him a tent. While Logan would be required to help around the camp, he would be mainly scouting for the rival tribe; called Kanibal. Food and drink would be depended on either Logan providing for himself or any important information he found. Logan didn't mind and agreed with the arrangements. After a few more minor things, Logan got up and left after getting his [Crescent Moons] back.

Leaving the tent, Logan sighed and rubbed the back of his head as he made his way to a clearing in the camp. In the clearing, Logan took a short running start before flying away. Known to Logan that he was being watched by Vernal.

Vernal, once she sure Logan left, headed back to Raven's tent. Inside, Raven waited for Vernal to speak.

Vernal: "He's gone." Vernal said as she kneeled at Raven's side.

Raven: "Thank you, Vernal." Raven said as she visibly relaxed with Logan gone.

Vernal: "Why do you treat him so cautiously?" Vernal asked as she sat beside of Raven at the table. "I can't see anything special about him."

Raven: "Vernal, he's one of the few who could battle me, with the Maiden's power I possess, and win." Raven said as she got up and walked over to a cabinet. "In all honestly, I wouldn't have said no if he had insisted to deal with Kanibal by himself."

Vernal: "He can't be that strong!" Vernal said in disbelief. "Hell, he handed over his weapons so easily!"

Raven: "Because he doesn't need them to fight!" Raven voiced out loudly as she sat back down with a brandy bottle. "His semblance and the maiden powers are both based in magic. His is fire based, while mine is ice based. And he has FAR better control of his powers then I do." Raven said as she drained the rest of her tea. "Not only that, he's willing to end someone's life if he needs to. Regardless of who. And he won't bat an eye." Raven then filled her cup up with brandy, then drank it all in one go and slamming it back onto the table.

Vernal sat in stunned silence as she realized Raven was serious about Logan. Then, grabbing Raven's cup, she copied Raven. Vernal realizing herself that Logan was being relaxed when he handed his weapons to her. Not out of anything other then he didn't need them to fight them.

Vernal: "Could... could we try to recruit him?" Vernal asked with hope in her voice.

Raven: "I've tried." Was Raven's response.
