A peek into her life

The lingering smile on Zen's face seemed to grow wider. He sat on one of the rattan chairs in the garden and watched the moon shyly hid behind the greyish cloud.

Camellia's phone was still on his hand. He flipped it around in a joyful manner but careful enough not to let it slip from his hand.

With a slight touch on the screen, the giant camellia flower with a white rabbit underneath it would flash. Zen chuckled as he recalled the resentment in Camellia's voice when she said the nickname 'Little Rabbit'. Seeing the wallpaper on her phone, there was a high probability for the woman to adore a rabbit instead of hating it.

She was just pissed off with how he used it to anger her.

Zen's lips once again curled upward once the thought scribbled into his mind while his eyes continued to watch the dark, plain sky who missing the twinkling beauty of stars and its mother moon. That was when a drizzle of rain touched his skin. His stare intensified as if warning the endless flat wall above him not to rain. Still, nature was always out of human control and so was the rain. It can only get heavier.

Zen hesitantly stood up before making his way towards the house. Inside, he walked straight to his study room which also connected to his bedroom.

'Time to wake him up,' he muttered with a devilish smile on his face. After placing Camellia's phone on the table, he reached to the other phone that was kept next to a stack of files.

While waiting for the number he dialed to be connected, he poured a glass of wine and sipped on it. Two seconds before the call was disconnected, a grumpy voice could be heard from the phone's speaker.

"The devil that disturbs sleeping people should die..." the grumpy voice continued to mumble in an illegible language.

"The devil should be me," Zen casually spoke, ignoring the curses from the man.

He walked towards the sofa next to a transparent glass wall and sat on it. His eyes were staring emotionlessly at the soundless rain on the other side of the glass wall.

The man who was being called seemed to have been frozen still before panicked noises could be heard.

"B-boss," the man stuttered. One could imagine the stricken look on his face simply from the way he nervously spoke.

"Sorry boss. Hehe, I thought it was the loan shark," the man cracky voice contained fake laughter to comouflage the shook he just received from knowing the identity of the caller.

Of all people, why must he cursed Zen Easton?! The man couldn't believe that he just did the unforgiven.

"No worries, I'm indeed your loan shark," Zen smirked while twisting the glass on his hand. He waited for the man to respond.

"Boss, forgive your humble servant. Don't worry I'll pray to all the gods to let you live for five hundred years," the man begged and coaxed at the same time. His plea put a frown on Zen's face.

"You better do," he played along. Besides, if he did pray for him, it only meant to add a blessing to his life. He wouldn't hold against someone who was willing to do that.

"Hehe, I will definitely pray boss. Btw boss, why did you call me in the middle of the night? I wish to resume my wonderful dream just now-"

"Stop your nonsense, it's already 4 o'clock," Zen interrupted. If he let the man spoke for more, then, his brain might get paralyzed due to receiving a lot of absurd info dump.

"Sorry boss. Good morning, boss." the man tee-heed at the end of his apology before asking another question. "Boss, how can I help you?" he was serious when he asked this time around.

"Zach, about the task I give you yesterday's evening, is it done?" Zen finally expressed the reason he called. He was no longer sitting by the glass wall but already lying on his bed. He could feel his muscle relaxed upon touching the mattress.

"Oh-yes! It's done boss," Zachary answered. He was the man Zen was calling and was also his assistant.

"Send it to me now," Zen gave another instruction.

"Yes, boss!" Zachary answered in a firm voice similar to a soldier saluting to his higher-up after receiving a mission. Except, the reality Zachary was living in was chaotic as he spoke.

Earlier, when he knew that he actually was awakened by his nocturnal boss, it almost felt like half of his life had been taken away by the grim reaper. Only the hell knew about the number of chores that would be dump to him if he missed the call.

Zachary shuddered at the thought and forcefully wiped the traces of saliva on the skin around his lips before jumped out of his bed. Then, he hurriedly ran to his laptop in the living room.

Sweats started to form on his broad forehead. When he thought about his boss temperament, his actions seemed to work in slow-motion, making him irritated. He wished there was a fast-forward button so that he could skip the situation he was in but of course without excluding the successfulness of the task.

On the other hand, Zen wasn't particularly concerned about the thing that Zachary was worried about. To him, Zachary was his best man. All the tasks assigned to him was handled in high efficiency without a single sloppiness. And as expected, within two minutes, the file was already sent to his email.

A proud smile flashed on Zen's face before he quickly said, "Got it. Now, go back to sleep. Your hard work has granted you free time until 4 pm tomorrow. I'll see you at 5 pm sharp in my house," he said in a fast yet steady manner before hanging up.

Zachary who was listening couldn't believe his ears. Free time? He was dumbfounded and cheered in a dazed manner as he walked back to his bedroom. He still couldn't believe that he just got rewarded a free time. Even if it was timely, he was content.

Due to this unprecedented result, Zachary couldn't help but be grateful for the kindness shown by his boss.

However, for people who didn't know the relationship between the two, they would think that Zachary would be more satisfied if he was freed from Zen's leadership. But, to him, working for Zen was a blessing. Since the incident 13 years ago, he had sworn to be his right-hand man and was willing to do anything for him.

If it wasn't because of him, the family he had in his country would have long be gone from this world. If it wasn't because of his benevolence, they would've died under the gunshots of the cruel loan shark.

Zen was Zachary's benefactor and he was more than willing to give his life for him.

Zen, however, wasn't aware that his act which mainly to uphold justice, had scored him a loyal assistant. He presently was reading the report on his laptop with evident curiosity in his eyes.

'CAMELLIA W.SR' was the title of the report he was reading.
