Chapter 4 - The Complication

Chen Xin stare at her back in awe. Not knowing that she was the original successor of the company. He always thought his wife whom everyone claimed that is dead was the one that was supposed to take over the business. He didn't know that this other Granddaughter is also trained.

Feeling his stare, she grew uncomfortable. Looking back at her Grandfather, seeing how weak he is, she conformed.

"Fine. I'll go down and settle it for you. Don't move until I come back. We will have dinner together. Uncle Chu, please help me to take care of him." Turning around she left her Grandfather there not waiting for an answer.

Just when Chen Xin was about to follow her out, Grandfather Shen sat up slowly with the help of Butler Chu.

"Xin, I want to talk to you."

"Make it quick old man. Not only do I have to finish your work for you, I need to go back to run your business for you too."

"I know, you impatient boy. Before you go down, I need to tell you something about the company. I'm not sure if you know this but -"

"Straight to the point old man. I have wasted 6 months in a coma, I dont think I need to be listening to the long winded stories." Not giving him any respect he stared at Grandfather Shen.

"Young people these days... Haiz... Alright. The one that started the Shen Corporation is not me. it was my Darling wife and my father. They started this business after we both got married. When my father died, he was afraid that with power and money, I might go a stray and in order for me to hold on to his beloved daughter in law, he handed all the company shares and properties under his name all to her." Staring at Xin, he waited to see if he is getting what he is saying.

"Go on. This is not the main point yet."

"Yes, you are right. Just before she passed on, she had the lawyers draw up a number of contracts, will and trust to make sure that everything will go to the ones that deserves it the most. You are included in her will. The reading will be next week Tuesday. Our lawyers will contact you again for the time and location. We just need you to show up."

"So, this would mean that there is a possibility that I might or might not be your successor am I right?"

"Yes, Xin, I'm sorry for telling you about this now. I heard about this only this morning when our lawyer told me this. He say this is the only thing about the reading that my Darling told him he can share with me. However, as you can see, the next in line is currently in my office under the pile of reports but she had told me before that she is not willing to take on our family business. I would hope that you can give her the support and listen to the reading next week before deciding on the next course of action."

"I understand."

"Go on down and looking for my Fei Fei. She will guide you. Just dont let your pride get in the way. She is more competent then I am when it comes to running a company."

Nodding, he turned and left the room.

Turning to the nightstand and looking at his wife's photo, Grandfather Shen sighed.

"Haiz... it just gets more and more complicated. Darling why did you do this? Are you sure you want the both of them to be back together again? They both have been hurting for the past 3 years now. I don't think I can stand seeing them in pain again. However, I trust you, Dear. I have faith that things will work out for them if it is meant to be."
