Chen Xin left the house after dinner and drove home. On the way back, his mind keep wondering back to the scenes. He did not understand why he had so many flashes during the whole time that he was there.
As he sped through the streets, the more confused he gets. The feelings of loneliness sets in and he longs to be there with her again. The girl in the scenes look so pure and innocent, he longs to hold her in his arms.
Looking at his life now, it seems that life has been filled with black and white recently. The colours were lost. He was not able to accept anyone else. After the car accident 4 years ago, he was in a coma for 6 months. After he woke up, he forgotten many things and one of it was the first love that he had since he was in high school and the one that he married after graduation from University.
His parents blamed his wife for the memory lost and also any suffering that he faced as she was the one that was driving the car that day and lost control which killed her and left his life hanging on a thread. He couldn't remember how she look, her usual perfume, her laughter, her everything. His mother had all traces of her removed from his room and any traces of her that might trigger his memories was removed.
Feeling the pain of the lost of his wife, it jolted him back to realilty. He pulled up into the driveway and stepped out of his car. His mother came running out to meet him.
Mrs Chen-Yu Ting was always anxious about her only son. Doting him and wanting the best for him. A mother's selfishness for their kids is understandable. It is also a mother's nature that does not want her child to be hurt anymore that pushed her to do what she did.
"Xin, what happened? I heard from Wen Hao that there was an emergency, Is Grandfather in law dying?"
Glaring at her, he walked into the house leaving her behind.
Walking in after him, they walked into the living room where Chen Xin's father was slipping tea and reading a set of newspaper. Chen Mo Geng hear his son's footsteps and looked up as he walked in.
"Father, I'm home."
Hearing how formal his son is to him, he was still unable to comprehen what happened since he woke up from his coma.
"Welcome back. How was work?"
"Tell us about the emergency. Is it about the Shen family? What happened?" His mother jumping in between is everything that they are doing. They are used to it but today, Chen Xin is feeling annoyed by what she is saying.
Looking at Chen Xin, the father and mother just waited until he sat down. He lifted his hand up stopping any other comments from his mother.
"Grandfather Shen fainted at home and so I went over to take a look. And, he is not dying. So mother, please watch your words."
"I was just checking. I didn't meant to curse him or anything." Mumbling under her breath, she sounds just like a kid being reprimanded by her parents.
Ignoring her, he continued.
"Grandfather Shen told me that Grandmother's will reading will be next tuesday and he told me that Grandmother insisted that I have to be there, else, the will reading will not be valid."
With her eyes sparkiling, she didn't intend to hide the greed that was showing on her face. "Did he say what your grandmother in law is living behind for you? The company? The properties? Well, your wife used to be their most loved and pampered granddaugther so I don't think they will not leave anything for you. I hope you get the company so that it can help give our Chen Industrial a push....."
As she rant on, Chen Mo Geng look his son in the eye.
"You must be tired runing around today. Have you had your dinner?"
"Yes Father, I had dinner with Grandfather before coming back." Omitting the fact that An Fei was there.
"That's good. Are you planning to go for the will reading then?"
"Yes. Even though I don't remember anything, I feel, as a basic respect for the wife that I have forgotten I need to be there."
"Same sentiments on my end too. If they are not giving you anything, I still feel that it is just out of respect for both your wife and grandmother in law that is no longer around."
Hearing this, Chen-Yu Ting was angry.
"No, they have to leave my son something worth it. He has been helping that old man in the company for the past 2 years and the business has been flourishing so I don't see why they won't give him anything. Son, no matter what, you have to fight for it if they are not giving you anything at all."
