Blackout

The sound of muffled voices could be heard as Vorbuk's body twitched uncomfortably. It was clear there was people in the room, but his mind could not comprehend the sounds to make out what was being said. A splitting pain was rushing throughout his head causing his body to feel like it was on fire. There was no doubt that he had over exerted himself during the fight and he could remember clearly most of the fight. At some point he released he had blacked out and could not recall the last half of the battle he had went through.

"What... happened?" He questioned outward.

"Vorbuk? Vorbuk are you awake?" The sound of crown prince's voice was ringing out from within the room.

Vorbuk tried to open his eyes only to find out that he had no strength to do so. It felt like his body was completely shut down as though he had been paralyzed from how weak he had become. With what strength his mind could find he started to panic thinking something was wrong with him. His entire body started to twitch in attempt to force himself to get up. The sound of panicking voices were starting to ring out from in the room.

"Vorbuk!"

"Calm down!"

"Damned beast you're going to make it worse!"

His mind was too weak to make out who's voice was yelling anything specific to him, though he managed to calm himself down enough to stop his attempts to move his body any further.

"So... tired..." He forced out the words again towards nobody specific, however he knew the prince could understand him.

His mind started to slip back into a deep and dark slumber. The sounds of voices were still filling the air around him and he could only make out parts of the conversations, but he knew they were all speaking about him and what had happened. The wolf was simply too weak to comprehend or care at the moment about his surroundings.

"What happened to him out there?" Leo's voice rang out among the group as the young prince was staring down at the sleeping wolf.

"Bredret, you're the oldest one here and I'd imagine you'd be the only one here to have a guess towards what happened to him?" Daryl's eyes shifted from the prince to the dragon who was yawning while sprawled out on the prince's bed. The spirit of Celeste was laid down beside the dragon and cuddling up against his side while watching everyone.

"How old do you think I am?" The dragon scoffed.

"Don't joke with us right now!" Prince Leo pulled out his sword and pointed it at the dragon to emphasize he was not in the mood for the dragon to not act serious. His actions, however, simply called out a smile on Bredret's face as the dragon sighed and sat up.

"I might have a guess about it, but I can't be serious on the matter because it's not like I'm some god. I am just simply a bit older living then most things in this realm so I can only make guesses from things I have witnessed before." Bredret glanced down at the wolf and shrugged.

"Yea, and your guess would be what exactly?" Leo glared and put his sword away while his face twitched in annoyance at the dragons uncaring attitude.

"Look, from what I can gather the beast is simply pushing his spiritual power too hard. It stems from mass powering one's soul. When someone pushes their soul to gain power too quickly it can slowly incinerate them from the inside when they loose control of their emotions. Take for example someone who is calm and relaxed all the time... When it comes to fighting they would simply be able to remain in that relaxed state to keep themselves steady and well aware of themselves. When it comes down to massively pushing your soul to empowerment, however, it puts a strain on the soul of the person. When they are pushed into battle their mind can easily become clouded and cause the person to be pushed to the brink of a power induced blackout. If my guess is correct the beast has been forcing a strain onto his soul and that entanglement on his very soul simply emerged in the heat of the moment."

"That..." Leo thought back over things for a moment and recalled out the wolf had been disappearing every night in silence.

"Yup. If my guess is correct though the beast needs to correct himself soon or it could very easily spell disaster for himself. If he has a power induced blackout it could end up killing him. I've seen the power literally burn even dragons up from the inside out when losing control. Without proper control power can simply become meaningless. What's the point of power if it's simply going to end you?" Bredret laughed at his last remark before standing up to leave the room with Celeste.

"Whatever happens down the road, prince... You should never act so rashly on your own again. If Zoe hadn't seen you two run off and told us so we could find you than you two might have ended up in a worse state." Daryl shook his head and followed after his friend.

"You could have ended up dead!" Zoe puffed her cheeks in frustration and pointed at Leo causing the young prince to smile wryly and look away from her.

"There is a reason we're traveling with you two. I'm not as weak as you want to assume just because I'm a cute girl!" she smiled mockingly at her own remark to him.

"I never called you weak?" Leo tilted his head slightly and sighed at how ridiculous he felt she was being. He could tell that she was trying to lighten the mood a bit, though, so he simply let it be and accepted her words calmly.

"I know you never called me weak, but it's clear you don't trust us yet. Why else would you leave your team mates behinds to run off on your own on purpose? You made us all worry about you two!" Her cat ears twitched as her tail straightened itself as she scolded him.

Seeing that Leo had no response to her she slowly walked over to the wolf and knelt down to carefully check on his bandages. After making sure everything was secure and clean she stood back up and left the room to find Daryl and the others.

Leo simply watched her leave with a confused look on his face. A part of him felt regret for running off on his own with Vorbuk to fight General Vulen and the others on his own. It was a part of him that was hard to change, however. When someone fights on their own for several years how can they simply and easily accept the fact that there are others who want to suddenly join in with him? He could feel that things were slowly changing for him, but at the end of the day everything was still a new experience. Considering the fact that he was the crown prince of Cadirade he had never traveled with a group before because nobody would want to travel with him. The world had seen him as a mere joke until the day Daryl had showed up and declared them all as a party to defend Cadirade from the ice queen.

"Things surely are changing..." He whispered to himself as he looked over at the window.
