A new life

Amy, in her new uniform (a white shirt, grey blazer with a logo of a purple planet on it, black skirt and black shoes), sat in the passenger seat as Abigail drove them down the road. They'd been driving for a while but neither of them had spoken a word. That practically summed up their relationship. Although she never said it to Amy, it was known that Abigail hated to look at her face. It reminded her of too much. If Alan was allowed to come with them it would have been a lighter mood but the location of the school was to be kept secret from everyone who didn't learn or work there. For the safety of everyone.

Finally, they reached the gate to into the school grounds. Amy looked up as the passed through and read the sign saying:

ASURIAN SANCTUARY

SCHOOL FOR ABILITIES

Ahead was a large metal building with what Amy counted to be three to four floors. There was wooden panelling covering areas of the walls and plants grew freely over it blooming in all colours. The gravel driveway guided them up to the front door where they stopped. Abigail grabbed a cap and some sunglasses and put them on.

"What are you doing?" asked Amy. Abigail turned to the groups of students outside the car.

"Lets just say your grandfather was a bit well known around here. It would end well for you if people realised your family history." said Abigail and she stepped out the car.

Amy followed her while wearing a backpack full of books and carrying a bag of clothes and other necessities. Before they even reached the door it was thrust open and a short woman with short, dirty blonde hair and fiery red eyes ran and hugged Abigail in a tight embrace.

"You're here! I can't believe it! It's been so long I almost forgot what you looked like." cried the woman.

"Amy, this is Cynthinia." wheezed Abigail through being constricted. "Cynthinia, this is my daughter Amy." Cynthinia dropped Abigail and directed her attention to Amy who was trying to avoid the curious stares of the other students.

"She kinda has his eyes don't you think?" asked Cynthinia. Now that Amy could actually see the woman, she could make out more details. She was wearing a black suit and red framed glasses that contrasted greatly with her blue sandals. "It's SO nice to meet you Amy! I'm Cynthinia, ex goddess of fire, and the current head of this school!" she grabbed Amy in a hug as well but Abigail's stern clearing of her throat made her disengage.

"Nice to meet you as well. And thank you for letting me come to your school." replied Amy.

Cynthinia lead them inside and they passed many classrooms full of students. One class was teaching astronomy with a teacher who was projecting the images from their eyes. Another class was teaching mathematics with a teacher who could change the number of fingers and arms they had. Finally, they passed a large room that seemed to be a gym. Inside was a girl around Amy's age who looked like they were about to spar with four other students. They all charged at her with weapons and swung at her but each attack was stopped by arms that grew out of her. The other students jumped back as the arms pulled the rest of their bodies out of the girl making four clones of her. Amy missed the rest of the spar as she needed to catch up with Abigail and Cynthinia.

They all finally reached their destination in front of a separate building behind the main building. It was about half the size but still seemed daunting. They walked in and took an elevator to the second floor where they walked out and down a corridor.

"This is the female dormitory building. You'll only have one roommate which is lucky as all the others have at least four." informed Cynthinia as they walked to the end of the corridor. On the right of the corridor was access of the roof and on the left was a door with the number 1066. Getting out a key and unlocking the door, Cynthinia opened it a gestured for Abigail and Amy to enter.

It was a basic room with four beds and a set of draws next to each one. One of the beds was a bit messy indicating where the famous roommate had been sleeping. At the end of the room was a glass door leading out onto a balcony looking out over fields and forest with a large area missing. Abigail began to tear up a little prompting her to leave before it got worse.

"Alright, I better get going before your father gets worried." said Abigail. Amy gave her a hug and a goodbye before she left the room.

"It's sad she won't tell you." said Cynthinia once they were alone. She sat on one of the beds.

"Won't tell me what?" asked Amy sitting next to her.

"Your grandfather was the one who took over as god of fire after me."

"WHAT! My grandfather was a god?"

"Kinda. He was a very powerful swordsman and brawler who saved many people without a second thought. He even saved your mother from a lab that was once based over there." Cynthinia pointed at the area in the woods where nothing was growing.

"Can you tell what happened to him?"

"He-"

Their conversation was abruptly ended as the door flung open and slammed shut by a girl holding a duffle bag. The same girl Amy saw sparing in the gym. She was five foot tall and was wearing the same uniform as Amy, had purple hair, and hazel brown eyes.

"Sup new-girl, I'm Cassie and I'm tired so don't try to wake me if you've got questions." said Cassie and she threw the bag down beside her bed before making a graceful leap into the air. She seemed to linger there in slow motion like a bird. For a long, long, long time. For eight hour, six minutes, and twenty one seconds to be exact. The sphere of pure darkness disappeared and time continued it's course as Cassie finished her flight and landed face down on her bed.

"I'll leave you two alone for a while. I'll be down stairs informing the others of your arrival so if you need anything come find me." said Cynthinia and she made her leave.

No one noticed the lapse in the flow of time. Except one person who, now equipped with with a feathered pen, noted down their findings and prepared for the next test the next day.
