True Pain

Random Konoha Shinobi POV

How? How could this happen?

Just a few minutes ago, everything was peaceful in the village. Civilians were doing their normal duty when, out of nowhere, chaos happened.

We were told that only one enemy breached the barrier, but what came next was a disaster. From everywhere came giant animals destroying our home.

Civilians were panicking. How? How could we defeat them when they have such power?

"Where is the Kyuubi Jinchūriki, Naruto Uzumaki?" asked the enemy as I felt something invisible grab my tongue and stretch it out of my mouth.

"I don no," was my response as I struggled futilely to escape.

And how could I? I was just one of many Chunin. Only the higher up knew where the Kyuubi Jinchūriki was.

"It seems you are telling the truth, but that also means you are worthless."

Deva Path POV

The infiltration of Konohagakure was successful. What we didn't expect was the sheer stubbornness of the Shinobi of Konoha. They did not understand true pain, but soon they would. The information about the Jinchuriki of the Six-Tails we gathered was somehow wrong.

Either he ran away after we attacked or he hid somewhere else. The Nanabi was found and in the hands of Kakuzu, but he had to drop her due to the attack of Sarutobi Asuma and another Kunoichi.

The moment I got the confirmation that the main target wasn't in the village, I did not need to be here anymore. I would level the village to the ground and find him in his hiding spot.

Nobody, not even the current Hokage, Tsunade Senju, could stop me.

"Pain, what are you going to do?" asked the weakening voice of the Hokage as I flew into the air.

"All of you shall know, TRUE PAIN."

General POV

Ishizu glanced at the place before him. To anyone else, it would look just like a normal street where people would sell their merchandise, but to Ishizu, this place invoked a different reaction.

This was the place where Obito appeared 16 years ago to summon the Kyuubi so that it could rampage.

The seal master wanted this place to be the point where his jutsu would counter Nagato's. Casually walking towards that place, Ishizu raised noticed a fight going on before a certain jutsu was used on one of the Paths of Pain.

The defender of the village was not other than Konohamaru, who rammed his Rasengan into the Nakara Path chest.

This boy would do great later in his life. Sitting down, Ishizu began forming the necessary seals to invoke the jutsu.

This would take a while since a Fuinjutsu of such magnitude and it being completely new took a bit more chakra circulation to trigger.

"Sasaki-san?" came the question of the confused Konohamaru.

The boy didn't expect the most recent missing-nin to appear in the village he left right at the moment of the attack. One of many questions that surged through his brain was if he was part of it.

Ishizu looked at the boy, gave him a smile and a thumbs up.

"Great job of fighting Pain's Nakara Path off, Konohamaru-kun. Your grandfather surely would be proud and I am can guarantee that if you continue like this, you will be a wonderful shinobi once you grow a bit more. Unfortunately, for you and all the others, it is far from over."

Before Konohamaru could ask more, Ishizu looked up into the sky. His hands moved faster and faster.

The moment Tendo Pain's words left his mouth, Ishizu finished his last sign ending in Dragon before he slammed his hands into the ground.

Konohamaru's eyes only perceived large amounts of ink spreading over the ground like snakes and Ishizu's words.

"Fuinjutsu: Gravity Barrier!"

The name lacked its 'oomph', unlike one like 'Heavenly Tribulation' or other cringy names, but it wasn't something Ishizu was proud of, anyway.

If one knew the sheer size of Konohagakure and the area one needed to create a barrier to protect it from the massive Shinra Tensei Pain unleashed on the village… one should read the manga to visualize it.

Ishizu was close to being a godlike being, but his time hadn't come yet. A curse escaped his lips as he heard glass shattering above him, indicating the barrier couldn't hold the pressure.

He prepared for the impact.

From a bird's perspective, one could see that Pain's attack didn't destroy all of Konoha like in canon, leaving only destruction behind.

The barrier actually did something and absorbed part of the shock wave. Yet even with this barrier, around 80% of the village was in ruins.

Only one building really remained perfectly undamaged and stood strong. It was Ishizu's own home.

Said home had over dozens of seals coating its interior and exterior, preventing any kind of damage to it.

Coughing up the dust that was in the air, Ishizu smiled as he felt 2 familiar chakra signatures appearing in Konoha. It was time to stop the god-obsessed Uzumaki with another Uzumaki.

"It appears the hero returned to his village to fight the evil guy, Konohamaru-kun," spoke Ishizu with a smile on his face as kicked the rubble away under which the boy wad.

"Who?"

"Who else than Naruto Uzumaki?"

Naruto POV

"Naruto, what is going on?" asked Karin as she saw the destruction in front of her.

Their home, destroyed.

"The enemy. They invaded Konoha and look what they have done. The Akatsuki will pay for what they did."

I looked at Karin.

"Go and search for Tsunade. I will deal with Pain."

Karin nodded, and we both entered what was the remains of Konohagakure.

Inside Konoha.

Asuma could feel his chakra reaching a critical level. Fighting two S-rank immortals was not something Asuma did every day.

His cigarette was lying on the ground next to his best friend and wife. Their unborn child would never get to see this life.

Asuma knew that letting emotions out would be a Shinobi's death, but since he would die anyway, he would show them not to mess with Konoha ninja.

"Are you ready to be a sacrifice to Lord Jashin like that bitch did?" spoke a crazy Jashin worshipper.

Kakazu stood behind his partner with one mask destroyed in his fight. He was patiently waiting to get Asuma's heart as compensation before he would find the Nanabi Jinchūriki that escaped his grasp.

Asuma knew he wouldn't be able to kill Hidan thanks to his weird biology, but the zealot wasn't his target. Rather, it was his money-obsessed friend behind him.

Gnashing his teeth, Asuma's muscles tensed as he ran at Hidan who raised his scythe to bisect him only Asuma to block it with his wind kunai and punch Hidan so hard in the face that he broke the guys' teeth.

With Hidan out of the way, for now, Asuma's target was in sight. His chakra coils screamed as he blasted a massive amount of ash out of his mouth, obstructing Kakuzu's vision.

The former bounty Hunter narrowed his eyes. He was ready to blast the annoying smoke away before he felt something grabbing his neck and found himself in a headlock by the Konoha nin.

Asuma's muscles bulged and Kakuzu thought he was trying to asphyxiate him; a futile effort, since Kakuzu didn't need to breathe to live. His forbidden Kin-jutsu absorbed all the unnecessary organs besides the heart to survive.

"You will die a worthless death," stated Kakuzu as he tried to grab the annoying bug, but Asuma didn't let go.

Instead, he formed two hand signs.

"W-wind style: Wind Hurricane."

A wind tornado appeared around them. The ash circulated together with the wind, creating an ash tornado.

Asuma had a smile on his face even if rock hard fist smashed again his face and Kakuzu managed to get a hold of Asuma's neck, breaking him away from his back and moving him to his front.

'This is it for me. I hope you are waiting for me, Kurenai.'

"Breaking your neck will still preserve your head for the bounty. Any last words?"

A grin formed on Asuma's face as his eyes glanced to his right. As Kakuzu looked there, he saw that Asuma's hand was holding onto something.

That something…. was a lighter.

"What?!"

"The will of Fire will burn brighter than ever!" Asuma rasped out, grinned as he ignited the lighter with his fingers.

The moment the fire came in contact with the ash tornado, everyone in the village could see the tornado found up in fire.
