General POV
The Konoha Shinobi knew that the Akatsuki comprised S-Rank missing-nin, yet none expected the Immortal Duo to be this powerful.
"Argh!" a Konoha Chunin screamed out as Kakuzu's bare hands crushed his neck.
"Tsk, your heart isn't better than what I already have," muttered Kakuzu as he looked towards his so-called partner, who was laughing like a maniac, swinging his scythe through the people.
While Hidan's skills were mediocre compared to other S-Ranked, he had a good grasp of his scythe, but it was his immortality that gave him the upper hand against the Konoha Shinobi.
He didn't have time to do his ritual but kunais, shuriken, or elemental Jutsu weren't effective again him.
Not only that, but Kakuzu and Hidan stayed always near each other as it was easier for Kakuzu to wipe out most of their enemies in one go while they were occupied with fighting Hidan.
More often than not attacking Hidan while he was occupied and since to the latter's immortality he wouldn't die.
"Fire Style: Burning Ash"
The area around Hidan was engulfed in thick smoke clouding the vision of Hidan.
"Hey, who turned off the lights?"
Not long after the smoke appeared, it erupted in fire.
Asuma Sarutobi, the son of Hiruzen Sarutobi, appeared to fight against the immortal duo. Kakuzu opened a bingo book and scrolled through it since Asuma's face was known to him.
"I know you. You have a huge bounty on your head. Hidan, leave his body intact so I can get my money."
When the fire cleared, Asuma could see that his opponent was unharmed, yet he was looking up at the sky.
"Aaaahhh, the pain. Hear me, Jashin-sama. In your name, I shall kill him so that you may feast on his soul."
Hidan seemed to have an orgasm before he rushed Asuma, trying to get some blood from him. Naturally, Asuma was a Jonin and therefore was informed of the powers the immortals had.
He took out his special kunai and infused it in wind chakra to block Hidan's scythe.
While those two were battling, Kakuzu felt a Genjutsu being cast on him. His water heart reacted and attacked the area where he felt the chakra coming. A water pump hit a house, destroying it, and Kurenai Yuhi stepped out.
"You have no bounty on your head. I'll finish you quickly."
Kurenai knew she wasn't strong enough to fight an S-rank Shinobi like Kakuzu. She was a Jonin due to her proficiency in Genjutsu and knew a few C-Rank Ninjutsu, but that wasn't enough to beat someone on the caliber like Kakuzu.
She maneuvered and retreated so that she could get closer to Asuma. They both had good synergy as teammates and if they played it right, could decapitate Hidan and focus on Kakuzu.
"Hey, Hidan, your god is fake!" Kurenai shouted towards the immortal Akatsuki member.
She needed him to face her and a provocation towards his fake religion seemed the right idea. It worked perfectly since Hidan was pissed.
"I will kill you, heretic!" he turned, and that was the moment her genjutsu activated.
Unknown realm
A shadow figure was hanging from a cross in a dark realm. Countless seals were marked across its body. There was silence until it opened its eyes.
??? POV
I woke up. There was only one reason why I would wake up from my slumber.
I regretted opening my eyes as a sight of ugliness greeted my gracious eyes. Everywhere, there was not a single spot free from those ridiculous signs of that idiot mortal called Hidan.
I tried moving a body part, but everything was still pinned to those annoying seals, leaving me here completely immobile.
Still, there was a glimpse of hope. Waking up always indicated the death of 'his' followers. I knew this would be the idiot's grave no matter the immortality. The only thing I didn't know was how he would die and how I could benefit.
He was the last of his kind and I didn't want to know what would happen to me once he was dead and I was still here in this place.
That's when something unusual happened. The dull scenery I had the misery of watching had something new.
A tiny amount of chakra floated toward the place.
By the small amount and the area of invasion, I could feel that somebody thought it was a good idea to use what these humans called Genjutsu on the moron.
Maybe this was the opportunity to escape this prison? Before the Genjutsu could take effect, I connected the chakra to this place to get the individual here.
"Come to me."
General POV
Kurenai didn't know what happened. The Genjutsu was visual-based and should incapacitate Hidan of the Akatsuki and give Asuma the opportunity to decapitate him.
Just as she had finished her jutsu, something literally grabbed her and now she found herself in this unknown place.
"Welcome... human. I congratulate you for providing me with this opportunity to leave this pathetic body. It doesn't matter if you are a human. I just need your body. You can rot here in my place."
Kurenai wiped her head toward the voice. Something was in the shadows. It was like a predator looking at his prey. Then something grabbed her by her throat. It felt like an invisible hand forced her body to float.
"W-who are you?" asked Kurenai in fear as the shadows cleared and she had a good sight of the creature that was cuffed on the cross.
The Genjutsu mistress from Konoha, even if not a sensor, could feel the chakra coming from the individual.
It was like looking into an inferno. It was impossible, suffocating. Nobody could have this much chakra. This person wasn't a human.
"You are correct. I am not one of your kind. It is unfortunate I have to disgrace myself by taking it over. Be a good human and set me free."
Kurenai could feel something was about to happen. Whatever it was, she had to stop it.
The space trembled violently, destroying various items around, as Kurenai concentrate to get back to her body.
"No! I will not let you!" the entity screamed as the chains moved around franticly.
Kurenai's body shone in blue light as it appeared to disappear through a chakra link, but the creature's left arm broke free from one chain, and its eyes fixated on the Kunoichi.
"You'll… pay for this… with your life."
The arm grabbed the chakra link and tore it to pieces, destroying it and repulsing Kurenai.
A frown escaped its lips.
"Tsk, a chance I couldn't take. This doesn't look good. Still, she had enough chakra for me to move. The moment that idiot dies, I am out."
Outside, the moment Kurenai's Genjutsu connected, an invisible force hit the jonin's body and send her crashing into a wall before falling to the ground.
She tried to stand up, but felt her strength leaving her. Then she felt pain as Hidan managed to get a bloodstain.
"Kurenai!" Asuma screamed but couldn't go towards her since Kakuzu blocked his path.
"I pray to you Jashin-sama! Take this mortal woman and show her that you are real!" Hidan used blood to form his jutsu.
Although her eyes couldn't see, Kurenai's face still harbored a smile. Even with her death, Konoha would live. The only regret is that she and Asuma couldn't have the family they all wished.
The pain was quick and Kurenai's body fell to the ground; lifeless. Kurenai Yuki died heroically in the battle.
