Childhood (2)

Although the father was an adulterer who has been living outside their family mansion with who knows how many women, he was a handsome fellow even in his forties. He has a fine bone structure and a perfectly symmetrical face. His eyes carry the type of gaze that can seduce women just by giving them a silent gaze. Which is really a waste, since his good features are clouded with the acts of one who is unfaithful.

He would seldom come home, and would only spare a single glance to his own child before heading straight to the bar to drink his way through the night. He would then sleep in one of the guest room and will leave early in the morning, wearing one of the spare suits in the room to go to work. The couple would avoid each other and would treat themselves as strangers owning but not living in the same house.

Nanny Rou, as the head maid of the mansion, who has been sent here from the main mansion the year the couple has hastily married, she has seen how a love so strong was now as cold as a day in February. She cannot do anything, for she is only a servant in this house and it is the couple's problem and she cannot interfere anyway. She has now spend her days taking care of the young miss who is neglected.

This has started two years ago, when Benjamin Wu came back drenched in the rain, shouting ineligible words and was looking for the Mrs. Lyannie Wu. His eyes were bloodshot and his appearance is basically shouting 'murder'. With Nanny Rou, having no idea was really was going on and had just put the young miss to sleep, rushed to the hall and was mortified to see her Master trying to choke his own wife to death. The poor Nanny Rou panicked and has now been shouting for help and has even awaken the small neighborhood. Two of the drivers of the family rushed in to save the Mistress before their own Master really manage to kill his wife on the spot.

What broke Nanny's heart is that the commotion has woken up the little child and was crying uncontrollably holding the railings of the left staircase. Seeing that the Mistress is safe and the Master has slightly cool down and was now sitting in the sofa, though still screaming bloody murder every once in a while, she rushed towards the young one and consoled her while carrying her towards her bedroom. The tiny life in her arms is shaking and was still silently crying. She cannot help but pity the child after that incident.

The incident has been reported to the Old Ronald Wu, and was instantly 'forgotten' by the whole sets of maids and servants (the Wu family has put up the word to make them shut up and not say anything about this in public). Since then, the couple's intimate relationship was gone and what was left was anger and deep hatred for each other. And for the reason of this heated argument, no one really knows why.
