Chapter 29 - Jian Bao (3) (Rev.)

Aunt Hei entered the living room to announce that dinner was ready. After the call with his sister, Jian Bao's little belly suddenly made a noise. His cute face turned tomato red, and the adults couldn't help but laugh. One by one, the grown-ups stood up and made their way to the dining area, with the little child following them eagerly.

The dinner was indeed very satisfying, especially for the little child. The table was adorned with an array of colorful and flavorful dishes, making it a delightful feast.

Huang Jin lovingly placed a bowl of fried rice with peeled shrimp, diced ham, carrots, and mushrooms in front of Jian Bao. Additionally, he served a bowl of baby bamboo shoots, crumbled egg, and corn, ensuring the child had a delicious and wholesome meal.

Huang Jin made sure that Jian Bao had a diverse and delectable meal. Alongside the rice and vegetables, he placed a small plate filled with sautéed pork slices and a couple of spicy braised beef meatballs. Each piece of meat was tender and juicy, exuding a fresh and fragrant spicy aroma that made the child's mouth water.

In addition, there was a small portion of savory Chow Mein noodles and a plate of MaPo Tofu topped with flavorful ground beef and garnished with spring onions. To complete the feast, there was a comforting bowl of Wonton soup, brimming with minced meat and diced shrimp, and garnished with toasted garlic.

Xun Wei lovingly placed a bowl of hearty mushroom soup in front of Jian Bao, ensuring that the child had a warm and comforting option as well. Once all the dishes were carefully arranged on the table, the adults began moving their chopsticks, eagerly selecting their favorite dishes.

Jian Bao's eyes widened in awe as he observed the feast before him, his mouth watering at the sight of the delicious spread. With a nervous smile, he picked up his chopsticks and started eating, trying his best to follow the adults' example.

The dining room was filled with the pleasant sounds of chopsticks clinking against plates and the joyous munching of food. The atmosphere was peaceful and filled with warmth and happiness. Everyone, including the little child, indulged in the delectable dishes with gusto.

Once they had all enjoyed a satisfying meal, they moved to the living room, where they continued their evening with cups of fragrant tea.

Jian Bao leaned against Huang Jin's back, sitting comfortably on the couch with Xun Wei holding Huang Jin's hand affectionately. The events of the day and the hearty meal had left him pleasantly tired, and the warmth of the living room made it difficult to resist the urge to sleep. Slowly, his eyelids began to droop, and he fought to stay awake.

As the night wore on, Jian Bao's body gradually succumbed to drowsiness, and his little head started nodding off. Huang Jin, feeling the weight of the child against his back, turned to sneak a glance at him and saw that he had already fallen asleep. His eyes softened with tenderness as he looked at the peaceful slumber of the child.

"Let's go, it's better to have Jian Bao in our bedroom. That way, we can comfort him if he has any nightmares later on from the incident this afternoon."

"Alright," Xun Wei agreed, turning to his parents and Grandpa Zhou. "We'll take care of Ahbao in our room to prevent any possible accidents. Mom, Dad, Grandpa, we'll head to rest now. Please don't stay up too late and get some rest early, okay?"

Xun Wei gently took Jian Bao from Huang Jin and bid his mother goodnight with a warm kiss. Huang Jin also stood up, showing his affection to Mother Huang with a loving kiss before saying goodnight to Father Xun and Grandpa Zhou.

"Don't worry about us; you better take care of the child," Mother Huang expressed her concern.

"That's right, he must be exhausted from what happened this afternoon. The poor child," Father Huang added with sympathy.

"I hope he'll have a wonderful time with us. It's best for me not to encounter that irresponsible father of his, or else I might have to give him a piece of my mind!" Grandpa Zhou declared with a furious expression on his face.

Huang Jin and Xun Wei smiled and bid them goodbye. Upon reaching their bedroom, Xun Wei gently placed the sleeping child in the middle of the bed. Meanwhile, Huang Jin retrieved a set of child-sized pajamas, a cozy blanket, and pillows adorned with cartoon drawings from his dimensional space. He also prepared a pair of slippers, a jacket, a T-shirt, pants, and shorts for the child.

Huang Jin also prepared the child's toothbrush, toothpaste, and a plastic cup in the bathroom. He even set out a fluffy towel for the child to use after taking a bath the next day. Meanwhile, Xun Wei changed Ahbao into a set of pajamas, placed a pillow under his head, and covered him with a warm blanket.

Afterward, Xun Wei joined Huang Jin in the bathroom, and they brushed their teeth together, side by side.

After they finished brushing their teeth, washing their faces, and changing into pajamas, Xun Wei took hold of Huang Jin's hand and tenderly kissed it. He gently pulled Huang Jin's head closer, and before Huang Jin could realize his intention, Xun Wei kissed his lips.

Xun Wei lovingly caressed Huang Jin's cheek and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. From there, his kisses trailed down to Huang Jin's neck as he held him in a tender embrace. He leaned in again to kiss Huang Jin on the lips.

In response, Huang Jin leaned closer and planted a quick kiss on Xun Wei's lips, whispering, "I love you."

"I love you too," Xun Wei echoed with equal passion, placing gentle kisses on Huang Jin's cheeks.

As morning arrived, the room was filled with the pleasant sounds of chirping birds and the refreshing scent of flowers from the garden. The warm rays of the sun filtered through the windows, gently waking the occupants of the large bed - two adults and one child.

Xun Wei woke up early, holding Huang Jin in a loving embrace. He placed a soft kiss on Huang Jin's ear, waiting for him to wake up. When Huang Jin finally stirred, he felt the tight hug and received a gentle kiss on his cheek, accompanied by Xun Wei's warm greeting of "Good morning, baby."

Huang Jin greeted back with a sleepy smile, "Good morning to you too."

The child, Jian Bao, noticed the movement of the arm resting on his stomach and turned around to face Huang Jin and Xun Wei. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and forced them open, feeling refreshed from a night of uninterrupted sleep without any nightmares.

Jian Bao glanced at the arm and then at the two big brothers beside him. With a shy and tomato-red face, he mustered the courage to speak, "Thank you for keeping me company the whole night. I slept really well."

The couple smiled warmly at the child's gratitude, assuring him, "You're welcome. We were worried you might wake up in the middle of the night because of what happened yesterday, so we decided to stay with you and make sure you felt safe."

Jian Bao's face brightened, feeling grateful for the care and comfort he received.

Huang Jin gently urged Ahbao to get up and wash up, followed by brushing his teeth and getting dressed before they all headed downstairs for breakfast. The three of them carried out their morning routine together, from taking a bath to brushing teeth and changing into fresh clothes. Xun Wei lovingly held Ahbao in his arms while Huang Jin walked alongside them as they made their way downstairs.

The parents and Grandfather were already awake, patiently waiting for Aunt Hei to finish preparing breakfast. Seeing the couple with Ahbao, they felt a sense of togetherness, as if they were already a family of three. They looked harmonious together, especially with the adorable and charming little Ahbao.

After enjoying a light and delightful breakfast, the adults decided to take it easy for the remaining days of the year. The family wanted to celebrate the holiday season and create new and joyful memories together. Xun Wei felt grateful for finding Huang Jin, and now, with Ahbao joining the Xun family, it felt like a special addition to their lives, like finding a new friend and bringing more love and happiness into their home.

...

While Huang Jun and Xun Wen decided to travel together, purchasing two plane tickets and boarding a flight a week before Christmas. Xun Wen was especially thrilled to have some quality time to talk with Huang Jin. He found it unusual not to see Huang Jin around, especially since Huang Jin had made the decision to quit school and focus on his material collection.
