Chapter 2

*BANG* *BANG*

"GET UP! YOU BETTER NOT BE LATE FOR SCHOOL, IM NOT HAVE SOCIAL SERVICES UP MY ASS AGAIN!"

This angelic voice was what Kira awoke to, completely dashing away any chance of everything being a dream.

Groggily opening her eyes she saw the same black wings from last night incasing her torso like a cocoon. Against her expectations the wings weren't warm at all, but were ice cold.

Kira laid on the ground for a bit contemplating her situation, before eventually sucking it up and getting dressed for school.

"It seems I'm at least part Shinigami. I have their eyes and wings, but I'm not invisible.... maybe I can be" she mused.

Following the same steps as last time she willed it and it happened. She couldn't see herself at all. Kira continued to experiment and learnt that she could also walk through walls, becoming completely intangible just like a Shinigami.

Looking through the death note she saw the rules were slightly different. The book used to say, "The humans name that is written in....", but now "Human" was replaced with, "Mortal". Kira inwardly celebrated this buff in power and finished getting ready.

Kira was wearing her large black hoodie, baggy sweat pants, large shoes and had a black backpack over one shoulder. Grabbing her sunglasses she left the orphanage. The weather was horrible and it was raining with large thunder clouds in the distance. She turned invisible and took the bus to school.

...

"Did you hear?"

"About Paris?"

"Yeah, it was all over the news. She and her family had a car accident yesterday. Apparently they have major injuries, but Paris died."

Kira walked through the halls of her school, no longer invisible, and heard the conversations of the other students. She couldn't help the smile that crept on her face at the thought Paris's death having been painful.

Kira had a plan to do something big with this second life. She didn't know what yet, but everybody would know her name when she was done. She planned to gain connections with the crime families of Gotham and gain a reputation for herself as one of the cities big shots. She just hadn't figured out how yet.

She didn't plan on being a hero, that was for sure. The world had enough of those already.

Walking down the hall Kira was pushed roughly, far rougher than she was used to. falling over she hit her head on one of the lockers. She began see flashes of her previous death where she had also been hurled and died.

The sound of loud laughter filled her ears and looking towards her assailant Kira saw red. It was Paris's best friend, Hannah. She had never been as hard on Kira as Paris, but she still treated her like trash. Now that her best friend had died she needed something to let her frustrations out on, and the little bitch in front of her seemed like the a good choice.

Jumping to her feat Kira sprinted down the hall and swiftly entered a random, empty classroom. Shutting the door behind herself she turned invisible and backed up.

Hannah barged through the door, "Get back here freak!" She shouted, only to be met with an empty room.

Leaving the room Hannah steeped into the crowded hallway, surrounded by students eager for a fight, "SHE'S OVER HERE!" A student by the entrance shouted when he spotted Kira out in the rain in the carpark.

Hannah rushed outside, and as soon as she stepped out of the school.

*𝐑𝐔𝐌𝐁𝐋𝐄* *𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐊*

Like gods judgement, Lightning came soaring from the heavens and struck Hannah. The bully didn't even get the chance to scream before her charred body had dropped to the floor.

The entire school had become silent at that exact moment. The muteness lasted for a few seconds before it was replaced by the sound of Kira's giggling. The crowd quickly snapped out of it, people began screaming and calling the ambulance. A few of the students were watching the laughing Kira with apprehension and fear.

...

When the authorities arrived they set up a perimeter asked a few questions to the students who were willing to answer.

"I'm telling you! That... that witch did something! I don't know what, but you should have seen her face! She wasn't even surprised! She was laughing! It was like she expected it to happen, YOU HAVE TO ARREST HER!!"

A few of Hannah's friends blamed Kira for what happened and tried to get the police to apprehend her, screaming bloody murder whilst pointing at her, but with the amount of witnesses and even a video recording from multiple cell phones and the parking lot cctv it was impossible to blame her.

Meanwhile Kira just played the part of a scared victim, and walked away with a life span 54 years longer. Many students who were to afraid to lie to the cops told them what had happened, including Hannah going after Kira.

Safe to say the police ignored any accusations towards Kira, including Hannah's friends that had 'deluded' themselves into blaming Kira for Paris's death.

...

Since school ended early Kira didn't go straight to the orphanage. First thing she did was head out to practice out her new wings.

Standing in one of Gothams countless alleys, an invisible Kira took of her hoodie and summoned her wings. The shirt already had holes in them from the other night, so she wasn't wasting more clothes.

Flapping her wings Kira leapt into the air as high as she could. She was airborne for about 3 seconds before crashing back down to the ground.

Kir spent about 2 hours practicing non stop until she was actually able to to fly at a below average level. Then again she didn't really know what the standard for flying with wings was.

Next up on her list was to see if she had the Shinigami immortality. Shinigamis couldn't die as they regenerated instantly. The only for their death to happen was for their lifespan to reach its end or for them to use the death note to save another human out of love.

Kira had completely forgotten about this possibility, but was reminded earlier when Hannah pushed her an she hit her head. The pain was there and she felt her skin cut, but there was no injury. Not even a swollen bump.

Picking up an empty glass bottle Kira smashes it onto the wall. She picked up a broken piece of glass and with a deep breath quickly slashed her finger. Kira watched with fascination as the pain immediately faded and the wound closed up. It wasn't as effective as the shinigami's from death note, who had attacks just fade when they hit them, but it was still phenomenal to witness.

...

Kira, who had a little longer till she had to get back the orphanage, was standing across the road from the Gotham City Police Deparment, or GCPD for short.

It was almost dark out and nobody saw the teenager vanish like a ghost. Kira made her way into the air and through the walls of the main building. She spent a few minutes searching before she eventually found where they kept their guns. The room had guards outside and a secure electronic lock as well as a manual key lock, but for her, phasing through wall was all it took.

The room was large and chock-filled with guns and ammunition. Kira didn't know what half the stuff was called and just started to fill her bags to the brim with what she could. She had three duffle bags she had previously stolen and brought them with her.

Once the bags were full she immediately flew straight up through the ceiling all the way to the sky's of Gotham, until heading back to the orphanage.

...

Kira's orphanage didn't search the rooms of the older children, especially those like her who only had a few months before they had to leave and start living on their own. So she just hid the guns under her bed all the way at the back behind piles of clothes and boxes.

The Shinigami-hybrid began to wonder, how she would sell the guns? She had the goods and could always get more, but what she needed were clients. The first person to come to mind was the man who currently had the strongest and largest territory in Gotham, Carmine Falcone. From what she could remember he seemed professional enough, then again it could just be the fact that he was one of the few villains that wore a suit. Falcone was certain that there was no law and order without organized crime, stating that Gotham would fall in chaos without it.

In fact before batman began to weaken Falcone's hold over Gotham, the city was maintained in order by Falcone and his organization that controlled several parts of the city. Legal and illegal. Now Gotham had other villains popping up, and they were far more chaotic than the mobster, although it's unfair to blame the bat, he definitely played a part.

There were other choices like the Penguin or joker, but they seemed too insane to involve herself with. Gothams villain game had only just started to pick up and she knew the joker would soon become the number 1 villain, it was just a matter of whether she wanted to change it or not.
