Chapter 40: Duels

At the same time in the real world.

D-Type Planet Rock

A muscular figure slams down a heavy stack of documents on the glass table that is surrounded by other individuals. The other people around the table shuddered in fear. He's the Vice Leader Heymon of Hand of Ganges. The Hand of Ganges is commonly known as an Adventurer Alliance which is the weaker version of miniscule guilds. Their adventure alliance is composed of 5 Adventurer parties which is lead by four Rank 3 players and one Rank 4 player.

Heymon is also known in the game as Soaring Descendant due to his unstoppable pursuit of power. Rumors say that despite not as strong as the 13 Saints of Estafiel he is not far from their level. His class, the Poison Typhoon is a Debuffer- based class that focuses on wind and poison type spells that destroy the enemy's statuses without afflicting any debuff indicators which made him literally impossible to defend against. However, the only downside is that his spell's power is quite weak. However, even in the early levels, it can display some of it's potential as a slight decrease in damage during fights is very fatal.

"What type of report is this? A joke?" Heymon pulled the documents he just slammed on the table and he slammed it again clearly showing his anger. The stack of documents shows other companies withdrawing their funds on the expansion operation because of two reasons. One is that one of their sponsors was "massacred" and is still not given revenge. Second is that because of Diyo's warning.

Although Heymon is currently at the same rank as Diyo, their experience, fighting techniques, and damage are worlds apart. It could be said that Diyo singlehandedly wiped out the expert Rank 2 party that Heymon handpicked after they accidentally stumbled on his "herbs" aka player owned territory.

"Hey! What kind of report is this?" he pulled again the stack of documents he just slammed in the table and slammed then again making the other people in the table shudder in fear.

Those documents stated that different companies which pulled out their funds for the expansion operation of the Group.

The primary reason is Diyo's declaration and the massacre on one of their sponsor's while the sinner is still on the run. Of course, these two reasons are Shi Fan's fault in their conclusion.

"Yang. Where is that kid now?!" he angrily directed his anger to the person beside him.

"Our spies reported he's currently in the kingdom of Estafiel." Yang who is currently shuddering in fear shakingly replied.

"Who is he currently with?" Heymon angrily buttered.

"He is reported by our spies leaving the Adventurer Association Building alone." Yang still shakingly replied.

"So Diyo isn't with him?" Heymon's interest was piqued. "Good good. The moment he gets out of the kingdom assassinate him immediately then we can show our sponsors how much we value them.

"Roger!" all of the other people at the table simultaneously stood up.

...

Inside the game.

Shi Fan is currently following the tall person along with the red-haired lady outside the city because although duels between players exist they cannot do it in Kingdoms and Empires, unlike towns.

Both of the parties are unaware that there are three Rank 2 Assasins following them, of course, this didn't go unnoticed in Quan Shi. He decided not to tell Shi Fan of their presence as that will interrupt his thinking on the upcoming duel.

Reaching the front gates the group headed for the forest area outside the kingdom. The three Rank 2 Assasins who just received their orders hid at the tree 50 meters away from Shi Fan's position to prevent being detected.

"Is that the kid that massacred CEO Zimo's team? Why does he look so weak?" one of the assassins couldn't help but criticize Shi Fan. After all who could wipe out an entire Rank 2 team while wearing leather armor?.

"It's just orders. We must carry out our duties so that we have a chance to be promoted." Having just finished the Rank 2 test they are now flexing their skills on a newbie Rank 1 player so that they will get noticed by their superiors.

....

"What type of duel do you want? " Red Tail asked.

"It's your choice." Shi Fan confidently said. After all, he's equipping an overpowered sword.

"Fine then." Red Leaf opened up his system interface and clicked "Restricted" Duel and sent a 1 on 1 request to Shi Fan.

[Adventurer Read Leaf would like to Duel with you. Do you accept?]

Shi Fan immediately accepted the moment the system prompt appeared not noticing the word Restriction on the duel type.

The two were teleported in another dimension at the same place however Shi Fan and Red Leaf's equipment began to disintegrate and was replaced with a wooden sword.

"Crap, it's a restricted duel?" Shi Fan couldn't help but be angry with himself. There are three types of Duels. The Free, Restricted and Choice. Free duels have no restrictions on base attributes and weapons however it couldn't be said to Restricted as all weapons are transformed to level 1 to test the strength of a Player. The last type is Choice where both parties can restrict themselves from using a certain bonus. The only thing that can be carried in Restricted Duels is rank.
