Lena only realized that she pushed away when she felt the wall behind her.
"Ow." She said, breaking James's train of thought.
"Are you okay?" He asked. He got out of his chair and leaned over to help her up.
"I'm-" She was originally going to say that she was fine, but instead she said, "it hurts."
She wanted James to spoil her a little.
"Where does it hurt?" James asked as he helped her onto a chair.
"It hurts right here..." Lena said, pointing to her heart.
"That's strange..." James muttered half to himself and half for Lena to hear. "You couldn't possibly have fallen on the heart... you fell lightly on your back..."
"And yet its my heart that is aching." Lena responded quickly.
"Why does it ache?" James asked. He did not understand a girl's heart.
"It aches because I see you here crying over another woman when I am right in front of you."
"It aches when I hear you say you love someone else."
"It aches when you push me away."
"It aches every day at the thought that you are still crying desperately over a woman you never found, when I am crying for you to stay beside me."
"And the pain won't stop until you stop it."
"I see..." James said. "What can I do to heal your heart, that does not involve marriage or my own heart?"
"There is nothing else I want from you. Please give me the one thing I desire most: your heart. Then my heart will be cured of all pain forever."
James sighed. "Then I'm sorry. I can't give you what you want."
Lena pouted, And James walked away from her. "Well... thank you for standing by my side, and for comforting me..."
"But please... do not continue asking for my heart."
He smiled at Lena, and Lena looked at his beautiful eyes.
"Come. I'll walk you out now. Your brother texted me that he's looking for you." James said. The two walked out of his office together.
They were now closer to each other than they ever were before.
