*Crrr Crrr*
"Shit! Just start already!"
Huntress tried to turn on the bike's engine but it seemed that the crash totalled it, leaving her stranded in the middle of the dessert.
To other people it seemed as though luck was on her side since the sun is setting, but she knows very well what that means.
Temperatures at night are freezing cold in the dessert, and the fact that the closest town is about 45 miles away makes matters even worse.
*Crrr*
"Damn it!" After spending an hour trying to fix the damage the bike still won't turn on, and it already started getting dark.
She walked back over to where Raxdos was lying down with his bottle in hand, her idea was to use the alcohol to disinfect her wounds and start a fire.
The closer she got to him however the warmer the air felt, which she thought was a fluke and walked back only for the temperature to drop suddenly.
"That's strange..." She said and walked until she was just a metre away from him, where temperature was pretty warm.
*Stay asleep... stay asleep...* she repeated inside her head as she crouched and grabbed the bottle.
Once she got a good grip on it she tried pulling but it didn't budge. The man's grip was like a vice and no matter how hard she tried the bottle just won't move.
She was out of options now, until one suddenly came to her but she quickly shot it down.
*No no no no... I am not about to spend the night a metre close to this psycho, no way is that gonna happen*
The scene of that biker's body exploding as he hit the rock resurfaced and she hurriedly walked away from the sleeping man.
The moment she did that the freezing temperatures hit her and not even after five minutes she came back.
This happened a few times until she made up her mind and laid crouched, about two metres away from Raxdos. She had her eyes on him the entire time, ready to jump back if he tries anything.
-10 hours later-
The Huntress did not get one moment of shuteye the entire night, and even though Raxdos slept peacefully the entire time she didn't let her guard down.
*fumble*
"Argh.... my head...." Raxdos woke up and painfully got up, feeling the effects of yesterday's drinking.
He took off his glasses to massage his eyes, and as it was the crack of dawn he put them inside his jacket pocket.
It was then that he noticed his tattered clothes, along with the bodies around him.
"What the actual hell happened yesterday... was I really that wasted?" He took a 360* look around and noticed the crouching Huntress a few metres away from him.
She looked at him and he stared back at her, a few minutes of awkward silence on his part while she started sweating and tensing at what he's about to do.
"Do you mind telling me where we might be exactly?" He broke the silence once he noticed her heartbeat quickening. "And also, was that my doing?" He asked and pointed towards the bodies.
"We are in the middle of the Sonoran dessert, coordinates I do not know. About the bodies- they weren't your doing." She said and he sighed in relief.
"That however is your doing." She pointed towards a large rock behind her, where human bits were sprawled all around it.
"I see..." he replied and nodded with a frown. "If you don't mind, can you tell me what exactly happened here yesterday?" He asked with an awkward smile.
-10 minutes later-
"So I owe you a new bike I guess?" Was his only reply to the story.
The huntress looked at the body bits and then back at him still with an expressionless face, but Raxdos could tell what she meant.
"Look, just because I didn't kill him as pretty as you killed the others doesn't make you any better." He commented.
This sentence made the Huntress smirk for some reason, since if it were any of her Justice League friends they would be appalled by this scene.
"Are you some sort of bounty hunter? You dress in a weird costume like these 'heroes' in the news and beat up the bad guys, though I never heard of any of them killing anyone."
His question seemed to insult her as she glared at him for a second.
"A bounty hunter? Don't compare me to some money hungry lowlife." She answered and Raxdos chuckled at her words.
"So what, you do it for the people? For the better good?" Raxdos asked.
"Bullshit!" Raxdos interrupted before she could answer.
"There are people that do it for the money, people like me. Your kind, the so called heroes, do it because they enjoy putting themselves above the law." He said with a sarcastic chuckle.
"Or maybe we do it because we have the strength to help the people who can't help themselves and need nothing in return.
But I guess that kind of concept is more like 'stupidity' to someone like you right?" Huntress shout back.
"I wouldn't call it stupidity... I call it a complete and utter waste of time. That is only my opinion though so how about we drop the subject?" Raxdos said and lifted off the ground ready to fly off.
"Wait, are you just going to leave me here?!" Exclaimed Huntress.
Raxdos recalled that it is his fault why she is currently stuck in this situation, so with one hand he picked up her motorcycle and with the other he grabbed her arm.
"Don't worry about the possibility of you falling because it doesn't exist, so where do you want me to be dropped off?" Raxdos asked, chuckling internally at the woman's panicking expression as he kept ascending.
"Gotham... drop me off at Gotham." She answered with a shaky voice.
"What a coincidence, I live just on the outskirts of Gotham. How about this- I'll take you to my place where it'll take a few hours to fix up your bike. In the meantime you can wash off the sand and dirt or just do whatever.
After that we're square and I don't owe you anything."
She nodded thinking it as not such a bad idea, especially if she can kill two birds with one stone.
