Back to work

The retching sound from Lina's bathroom can be heard even from the hallway. This is the second day she has woken up feeling nauseous, light headed and rushing to the bathroom. Yesterday, everything she had eaten came out not soon after, for the whole day. There's nothing left in her stomach to throw up but her body kept pushing her for more.

It's been over a week since she got back to work. And her schedule is hectic, she's at work for over ten hours every day. It's also been over a week since Henry left Novaly, he flew straight to Europe for a conference. He will be back to Miresa today.

Jenny knocked on the closed bathroom door and said loudly. "Lina, come out, the doctor is here. The cute one."

Lina flushed the toilet when the last stomach churn ended and she felt okay enough. She slowly approached the door after she brushed her mouth. Good thing John was by the door because she felt faint with the small effort she did. John half carried her to bed where she groaned as soon as she lied down as she felt her stomach twist and turn again.

The cute doctor as Jenny said is Dr Alex, who's a GP that works at the close by hospital, Novaly Medical Center, where Lina does some charity work for their children's ward. They met there and struck up a friendship. He is also the doctor that gets called in case Lina feels unwell.

He is also a cute doctor. A nerdy cute kind of vibe. He's always neat, dressed well and well mannered. The patients at the hospital loves him.

"Oh my, you don't look well. Caught the stomach bug, did you?" Dr Alex told Lina as he goes through the normal routine of checking her vitals.

"You're dehydrated already so I'll put you on IV since you have work later, I'll add some pain killers on it so you can sleep." he added as he finished going through the routine check.

After he took some blood samples and inserted her IV line, he asked. "Do I need to run a pregnancy test?"

"No." Lina answered.

"No?" Jenny asked, surprised.

"No!" Lina answered firmly before turning back to the doctor. "Thanks, Dr Alex, for taking the time to come here."

"Don't worry about it. And like I said before, just call me Alex. I'll give you guys an update once the results are out and write the prescription if you need it. Make sure to keep eating and drinking." The doctor said with a smile, a happy smile which he always has on his face, and went out with John.

"Okay, go back to sleep Lina and rest some more. I'll wake you later." Jenny said.

"Pass me my phone first, please."

Jenny handed her the phone and left her alone. She checked her messages from the night. Some from Ki Ha and the twins which are mainly just fooling around and random update. Some for work and a message from Henry telling her they have left towards Miresa but no update yet that they have landed. Her dumpling app also had a notification from Baddy.

Baddy_XX: Hey, you free tonight to do a good loot? I found a website selling stolen goods

Goody_XO: my darling dumpling, I can't. I'm sick

Baddy_XX: what's wrong? Your husband overused you

Goody_XO: you and your dirty my mind. The said husband has not been with me for the past week. I'm sick with a stomach bug

Baddy_XX: are you pregnant? Or just lovesick

Goody_XO: no I'm not pregnant. And I'm not lovesick. I'm just sick

Baddy_XX: you mean you didn't do it? what did you do in Kulu then? Played cards?

Goody_XO: we didn't. wait how did you know I was in Kulu?

Baddy_XX: I tracked you, with the app. =)

Goody_XO: that makes you happy? I have a new firewall though

Baddy_XX: yeah, and it was a good one. I'm just better

Goody_XO: of course, you are

Baddy_XX: when will you do it?

Goody_XO: you need a boyfriend. Should I look one for you? or three to make sure you're satisfied?

Baddy_XX: eww no, get better. Bye!

Her weirdo friend never fails to make her laugh. Lina debated to tell Henry that she's sick but decided he doesn't need to be bothered by small things, she'll get better soon. She closed her eyes, let the medicine do its work and fell asleep.

After a few hours, Lina felt Sam removing her IV so she opened her eyes.

"Good morning, sunshine. Except its already afternoon." Sam tells her. "Better check your phone, it's been going off every now and then." He continued as he finished up and left her.

Lina checked her phone to see some messages from Henry telling her he has arrived in Miresa and then his house. And a few missed calls too.

Its only past noon in Novaly which means its only four in the morning in Miresa so Lina just sent him a quick message.

Not long after that, her phone rang, Henry calling her.

"Hi, baby." He tells her as he always does. Since he left Novaly he calls her every day before and after work. Asking her about her day and talking about random things. But he hasn't spoken to him for 2 days because of their schedules.

"Hello. Why aren't you sleeping?"

"I wanted to talk to you. Besides its already morning here. I just finished working out. I will go to the office early since there's a lot to catch up on."

"Okay, make sure to eat then. I will leave in about 2 hours too." Jenny then walked in with Josie behind her with food.

"Eat up ,Lina." Josie tells her.

"Okay, baby, I'll let you eat in peace. Message me once you're done with work, okay?"

"Okay. Have a good day!" Lina calls out as they hang up.

"Doctor Cutie said your results came out fine so it must've been just something you could've eaten and should be gone in a few days at most."

Lina happily ate her breakfast, feeling so much better already.
