"You seem to speak those words with such pride yet all I can hear is hatred in your voice. Care to explain?"
Though he didn't care to dig too deeply because he knew most people if not everyone spoke with hatred or disgust in their voice whenever they brought up that boy but that was also his fault. He was just curious why she claimed to know so much about him but getting the truth out of her was impossible however it was worth a shot.
"It's none of your business. I just want to know where you're hiding him. So tell me."
"Figures."
She certainly was a stubborn one but even if he knew where the boy actually was he wouldn't tell her. If she so badly wanted to find him she either had to force the same answer out of him or find other ways. But one thing did pique his curiosity. She called him by a name that he had never heard.
"Tell you what. Let's make a deal and I'll tell you where he is but in return you have to tell me something."
Watching her reaction he waited for her to finish thinking patiently. Hopefully she would give him the answer he wanted. Yilel stared at the man in front of her and tried to look for any lies in his words but from beginning to end she couldn't sense any falsehood and that frustrated her greatly. If Xilo wasn't actually in the clan or if his location was unknown how was she ever supposed to easily find him. The only way she could think of was hiring people for a manhunt. But while she had a lot of money herself she didn't have enough to hire the people who could actually put in more effort then her nor could she protect herself at this point. So this deal to her was something akin to the last straw she could grasp.
"Fine, But I hope you don't lie to me and tell me the whole story."
"Great, now then what I wanted to know is quite simple really. Why did you call him Xilo? Is that the name he calls himself or something you simply made up?"
"So that's what you want."
Wondering how she should go about explaining it she thought back to the moment she heard it but even to her it was weird and almost unbelievable as well but a part of her was telling her that she was right.
"The way I heard his name is quite simple in a way really. A dream."
"A dream, are you really going to tell me you know his name because of a dream?"
'I heard it one night in one of my dreams and it just felt right so I called him that from then on, if you don't want to believe me that's your choice."
"I see."
"So you don't I assume?"
"Oh no no, don't get the wrong idea Yilel I do believe you. In fact I have no doubts that's the truth in the slightest."
With a slight smile on his face he thought of something from his past that led him to believe her.
"wait really? But isn't it ridiculous? I mean it was just a dream right? There's no proof it's the truth."
"Here's a little lesson for you. In this world there are many different things that can and will happen especially when you take into consideration that it could be an ability. As you grow you'll learn more and more about all the wondrous and horrendous things that can happen because of them. So if you want to know why I believe you, it's because I've seen similar things happen before."
"An ability?"
Taking a second to think back on all she learned about abilities she could start seeing why he said that but there was a bigger question she wondered.
"Was it my ability though or another's?"
"Now that you'll have to figure out on your own. Who Knows it could be the awakening of your ability like you said or the work of even Xilo himself or others. Eventually you'll learn if you do ever find him maybe. But with that said let me uphold my part of the bargain."
With that he began to explain to her all the events that happened the day Xilo decided to leave in detail and didn't leave anything out. From their conversation to his will to fight and Yilel silently listened the whole time trying to find any lies but the more heard the more shocked she was.
"Does that satisfy you? Like you said before it's your choice to believe me or not but I honestly have no idea where he could have gone nor do I have any plans to chase after him.
"Mmm..
Seeing her disparate answer after that he sighed a little on the inside as he watched her slowly begin to walk away after answering him. But even if those were the words she didn't want to hear he still had to say them at the end of the day. He couldn't tell the reason why she was so obsessed with the boy but maybe it was for the best that she never saw him again.
"Ha.. I really do Hate this sometimes.
Before he was exiled here he never truly knew how hard it was to keep a clan working but over the years he learned the hard way how stressful it could be on somebody. But these last few months have probably been the worst of them all. But while he was tired and hated it sometimes he really did love guiding people and managing everyone's well being.
"I wonder what past me would think if he saw me now. He'd probably think I was the biggest idiot known to man but that me then could never understand back then. He was too obsessed with other things just like Yilel. Isn't that ironic?"
Laughing at his stupid past he went back to work.
Yilel soullessly walked out of the Clan Leaders office almost as if in a trance as she kept repeating what was said to her. But no matter how many times she replayed it in her mind she just couldn't believe it. From all her study and observations of Xilo she'd never seen such personality quirks even when she started watching him in the Myriad Locked Forest. Maybe it was the woman beside him or maybe it was
something else.
"Perhaps I didn't know him so well after all. But how did I miss it then."
