Staring at XIlo in front of her, Xelfia began to calm down a little bit now that she was no longer able to see the image on the wall as her memory of before started to fade. She still felt some fear left over in her as she remembered the sight of all that carnage and destruction but at least it was over now even though it still lingered a little bit at the moment. Wiping some of the sweat that started to form on her body she took a deep breath and tried to get all her feelings to escape along with her exhale but that didn't help too much unfortunately.
"What happened Xelfia, are you feeling alright now?"
"Just got a little scared that's all....I saw something very unpleasant."
"What exactly?"
"Well..."
Knowing Xilo was worried about her she hesitated as she stared at his face and stared into his eyes. She didn't want to recall such a frightening thing but it was probably better she spoke up about it instead of keeping it to herself. At least then she could share her problems with Xilo and maybe that would help her forget or be less afraid. Thinking that and seeing the worry written all over her face she spoke up and began her recount of the story after some hesitation. Thankfully after some struggling here and there she was able to get it all out and tell him smoothly.
"So it was that memory again....Hmmm."
After hearing her story again about that same creature Xilo looked back at the wall behind him and took a quick peek at it but all he saw was the same thing as before. It didn't change his feelings looking at it in the slightest though that was probably to be expected. "From the way she described it, It probably felt really real to her." And that was something he just couldn't understand without feeling it himself. However he knew from looking at Xelfia she was probably worried about it so he took the best approach possible as he took her hands in his and held them. There was something he remembered himself from long ago that helped him and might help Xelfia so it was worth a shot.
"Are you afraid of it?"
Watching XIlo put on a calm smile suddenly and hearing his usual ice cold voice turn soft took her by surprise as she stared at his handsome face before composing herself again and answered his question with a bit of a stutter. In this moment Xelfia didn't feel like she was her usual self that was watching over Xilo instead she felt a bit different. "Kind of like he's...." Almost breaking her composure she felt some water start to gather in her eyes while that memory kept coming back but at the moment there was nothing she could do about that as Xilo held her hands and kept her gaze attracted to him without letting her get away. Xilo was right; she was terrified of that memory and that wasn't something she had felt in her life in forever. Maybe this was even one of the few times that she experienced it for real and she had no idea what to do with that Before she just got stronger to save herself but now was completely different especially when that something was probably killed long ago. However that didn't really change much thinking about that.
"yes.."
As Xilo stared at her he began to rub her hand as he gently removed his hand and brought it up to hair and began to run his hand through it almost like he was petting her. He didn't exactly remember too many details but when he was younger he would always experience excessive nightmares before things began to change in his clan. Almost every night he would wake up terrified of what he had seen and panicked in his room but back then he wasn't alone. There was always someone with him during those times that soothed him similar to this. He couldn't remember their voice or face but he remembered some of their actions they carried out that helped calm him down. though that eventually stopped along with the nightmares when everything began to change around him.
"That's good then, don't let the fear take over you."
"...?"
"Well it may seem a little silly but whenever I was afraid someone used to tell me to always keep imagining it and not looking away since the more you see or do something the less scary it'll get right? So try your best and just think of it as a bad nightmare and I'm here for you if you want to let it all out."
"but...what if that doesn't work?"
"If that doesn't work? Then just get stronger then that monster. Beat it down till it can never get back up and make it beg for mercy."
Laughing Xilo tried to lighten the mood a little as he Softly let go of her hair before wiping the tears from her eyes that had started to form and leaned in and gave her a kiss on the forehead before backing away and smiling. A little taken aback at such a sudden action Xelfia took a second to register what had happened before a small smile broke out on her face as her mood improved slightly.
"I guess you're right."
Taking Xilo's advice Xelfia tried to picture it again but it was still a little too much for her to handle right now but it would probably take time before she would stop feeling fear from that creature and even though facing that fear was the probably the best way to handle it, it also wasn't healthy to constantly think about it either. Composing herself she squeezed Xilo's hand before poking him a little in the side while dragging them towards the path in front of them without giving him time to react.
"Haha."
Laughing she pushed herself through the Invisible wall with Xilo alongside her. Surprised at such a turn of events Xilo felt himself soon getting tugged at as he went flying into the wall himself as they both went through it and ended up on the other side in the same familiar stuffy environment.
