"Well you all know that this Kingdom is called Saren Kingdom. This kingdom is one of the kingdoms that border The Great Wall. It is one of the smaller and less powerful kingdoms but no one really wants to conquer this kingdom because no one wants to be a wall kingdom. "
"What is this Great wall you are talking about?"
"You don't know about the Great wall? Well it's not a surprise if I think about it. The Great Wall is a giant wall that separates the human kingdoms from the Demon realm. It's what protects us from attacks by demons on the other side of the wall."
"Demons?"
"Well no one has really seen a Demon in thousands of years since the wall was built. We only know what is in the old history books. Apparently, there was a great war between humans and demons around two to three thousand years ago. Tired of all the bloodshed, all the human nations decided to pool all the resources and build a wall from shore to shore to stop the demons. At the time, there were only a few great human nations. But once the construction of the wall was finished and the demon threat was gone, the great nations started splintering and a lot of small kingdoms formed over time. The kingdoms next to the wall are called wall kingdoms. Saren kingdom is one such wall kingdom"
Leana stopped for a second before continuing "These events are from thousands of years ago, so many people have forgotten about it. No wonder you don't know this story. I only found out because I heard about it in the imperial academy where I trained. Most of what I know I learned by myself by reading in the library."
"There is an imperial academy?"
"Well there is a small branch in this city. The main academy is in the capital. I trained in this city's branch for 6 months before I joined the city guard."
I thought a bit about the information that I was just told and tried to digest it. A wall to separate us from demons? I thought demons where just something people tell their kids to frighten them. They were real and they were actually on the other side of a giant wall? If the story is really from thousands of years ago, who knows how much of it is real. Then again, it's not really possible to hide a giant wall. If a wall was really built, then there had to be a reason.
I tried to think about what I had heard about demons as a kid. Most of the stories said that they had ugly and frightening appearance. That they eat children of humans. Well that was probably something that people told their kids to scare them. Could there actually be demons that ate people?
While this was interesting information, we had other things we needed to think about
"So back to the original question. What are the cities that we want to consider?" I said trying to bring back the focus to the original purpose of this meeting.
"Well…" Leana thought for a second "This is one of the closest town to the wall and there are only guard posts south of here. These posts are close to the wall and on the wall itself. Other inland nations pay Saren nation to keep a guard presence on the wall. Our options are to find cities towards the north, east or west. East or west we will find more border cities like this one. North is where we will find bigger cities but they will be costlier as well."
After listening to Leana, each of use started thinking about what was the best option.
