The revving of the engine can be heard as a car went over a bumpy road. The people in the car was Trent and his family. The destination was an unknown place that only Trent's family knew of. The Net Temple of Bay city is an under ground temple that only Trent's family known how to enter.
Thinking of all his responsibilities, Trent just sat in the back seat of the car and looked out the window. He gazed at all the trees going by as he listened to his music. He had earbuds in his ears the whole time. Listening to relaxing music usually cleared his head. He closed his eyes, then inhaled and exhaled. He was nervous, but he absolutely knew what he had to do.
They drove down the road and suddenly pulled off to the side of the road and stopped. Trent's father put the car in park and exited the vehicle. Trent then exited the vehicle and shut the door. His dad then held up a scroll in his hand.
"This is the contract scroll you need. You know where the shrine is, so you should have no trouble getting there. When you enter the temple, lay this down on the stone table and cut your finger with your blade. Once you get enough blood on the page, the spirit should know who you are and be contracted with you," Trent's father said.
"Yeah, yeah," Trent said as he sighed in defeat at the idea of doing this.
"Remember, Tent...it's for the best," his father said with a smile as Trent just gave him a cold stare.
His father then handed him the scroll. Trent just stared at the scroll for a second and then looked up at his father, whom was smiling at him. Trent just sighed as he gazed at the big forest that he had to trek through to reach the temple.
He started walking as he kept his head turned to the road ahead as the car slowly disappeared behind a wall of trees and mist. He walked through the forest, listening to the dirt crunch beneath his shoes as he stepped. He followed the path for about a mile and found a stake in the road with a cloth tied on it with a nail on it to keep it from blowing away. Trent then diverged from the path he was on to the forest area beside it and reached what seemed to be the side of a mountain.
Trent gazed up at the mountain and trailed his eyes down to the boulder in front of him. He put his hand oh the boulder and noticed his arm starting to show a green glow emitting from it. The light then ceased as the boulder began moving out of the way, revealing a secret staircase. All Trent did was start defending down the stairs and snapped his fingers. The boulder then rolled back into place, leaving the stairway pitch black.
"Fi," Trent shouted in the pitch black staircase as nothing happened. "Damn! No magic allowed in here"
Trent quickly got a lighter from his pocket and flicked it on. The light glow of the flame only had a little light showing the way for it, but it was better than nothing. He started making his descent into the dark abyss. He then made it to a door way. A clearing! A little light shown as he gazed up in amazement at the temple. He gazed at the stairs leading up to where the table is, where the little light was shining to. Tent capped his lighter and put it in his pocket. He then took the scroll that his father gave him...
...and started ascending up the stairs of the temple to reach the shrine table.
