The only thing that could be heard was Trents steps up the stairs as he finally got to the top. There sitting in front of him was a stone table that looked warn. Vines surrounded the table as the light beamed down onto it. Trent then placed the scroll onto the table and opened it up. With a grunt and a sigh, he called for his blade and was ready to cut his finger, but then stopped. He dropped his blade, which caused it to disperse. He then gripped his head and knelt to the ground.
"DAMN IT!!," he shouted. "DAMN IT, DAMN IT, DAMN IT!!!"
He slammed his fists to the ground in anger as he yelled seemingly uncontrollably. He then stood up and glared at the scroll.
"Why the hell do I have to do this! It is not my responsibility to look after my dad's damn spirit! Why do I have to get the stupid thing," he said as he clenched his fist. "It's not fair. I can't carry on this responsibility...what if I lose my life trying to give this spirit what he wants..."
Trent sighed and collected himself.
"Contracted spirits need some part of their host in order to perform the tasks that the blade wants done. Does he not realize this?," he questioned and then stared at the vines surrounding the table. "Well...I dont want to sit around here as my life force gets sapped by this stupid spirit...I'll do something about this"
He started tugging on the vines and ripped them off. He then threw them off the side of the temple and watched them disappear into the chasm beside it. He then glanced back at the scroll.
"I will make it so you wont take anything away from anyone again...," he said as he approached the table.
He then grabbed the lighter from his pocket and flipped it open. He ignited the flame and held it above the scroll. He then released it and watched it fall to the scroll. The lighter set the scroll ablaze as Trent slowly backed away from the flames. He watched as the flames threw burned chicks of the scroll into the air and settled on the ground. He watched as the flames ate away at the page until it was no more. The flames then died as Trent then sighed. He gazed at the ashes on the table and picked his lighter from the ashes.
"It's over now," Trent said. He then stared making his way back down the stairs. When he reached the bottom, he started heading to the opening. He contemplated in his head about how he was going to tell his father what happened to the scroll.
'I tripped and it fell into the abyss' Trent thought to himself. He then reached the cave entrance and started to walk through but BAM. The entrance was blocked by some sort of shield. As Trent tried passing through it, he fell backwards.
"What the hell?," Trent said as he came to his feet. He pushed on the field and stepped back a bit.
"D-did someone...?," before Trent could finish his sentence, he heard a noise. A click. And then boom. The room went dark.
His only light source was now barricaded up.
