CHAPTER EIGHT

EUNJEE

Its one of those days where im on duty back to the hospital which I actually miss. Working with different kinds of idol made me miss having normal patients to treat this and it make my mind work on thinking more about curing and not looking for Mark. After our conversation the other night, i've been thinking about him and wondering hows he doing. I do see the other guys from time to time but Mark was never with them.

I studied the charts in front of me, I was on emerency duty today which I also miss.

"Doc.T, What happened to you? Since you got another job i haven't heard anything from you" Doc Kim said after giving her charts to the nurse in front of me. I smiled to her giving her some chocolates i have inside my lab pockets

"Whats this? A peace offering!" We both laugh as she opens the packaging and takes a bite.

"Doc T, Doc Kim. Chief Park requests your presence during the meeting later with the President, he said to make yourself presentable because other chiefs from different department will be coming" Minye-noona informed us then excuses herself.

"Whats with the sudden invitation like that now? Did something happen while I was gone?" I ask

"There's this VIP patient who came here few weeks ago. His case was rather intriguing. His been in vegetative mode since his last code. His vitals are like crazy rollercoaster and all his doctors cant figure out whats causing it. They said they'll have a meeting about his case so maybe this is the meeting their talking about." Doc Kim explains, I nod in response, as to why i'm invited that I don't know.

"Doc T. YOU ARE REALLY HERE?!!" I heard two footsteps approaching me, I look back and saw Boom and Annie. I smiled to the both of them and they both gave me a crushing hug. "You haven't been on duty for awhile. How's your new job? I heard that your quite popular now. You are really something" Boom says which earned him a smack from me.

"I"ve been receiving a lot of reports about you idiot. You should listen to your new clinical instructor. Just because i'm not the one dealing with your craziness doesn't mean you should keep on acting one." I told him with Doc Kim now laughing. "Annie, you do the same." I told Annie to which she nods.

"Doc, aren't you going to operate again? You've been away for so long the hospital has been so boring!" Boom asks

"I'm still a doctor and if someone needs me for operate on them, then thats what im going to do" I informed him and he beams.

"I cant wait to see you in action again" Boom answers back.

"Unnie, can you still teach us when you have some free time?" Annies asks and I nod making her smile even more. "Thank you unnie"

"You two need to go back to your stations now. If your instructor notices your absence she'll get mad again" Doc Kim states making the two of my former residents run back to their stations.

"Tiny seems to give them a hard time?" I faced Doc kim again and she nods smiling.

"You know how she is from time to time" She informs me and its my time to respond with a nod.

*skipping to the meeting now*

Doc Kim led me to where the meeting was held, good thing we didn't have many patients today.

The room was filled with guys wearing white lab coats and some with suits, i saw Chief Park but he was talking to someone else so we didn't bother talking to him. Some chiefs of different departments greeted us and we did the same before finding ourselves a good place to sit.

"Good afternoon everyone the presentation is about to start so please if you all could find a sit that would be very much appreciated" Minye-noona announce making everyone find their places and focused their attention in front.

I saw that one of the people wearing formal suits are our president himself. I've seen him a couple times walking in and out of the hospital from time to time, i haven't talked to him or approached him before, I mean his the reason why I'm here, he very much funded me until now. I nudge Doc Kims arm and directed her gaze to where I was looking before. She saw who I was looking before and almost whistled good thing I was able to stop her. We both smiled because knowing her, she does have a crush on our president, who wouldn't, his really hot.

"Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, now I won't delay this meeting for some unnecessary words i'll cut to the chase instead. For many weeks now we have admitted a patients whose not just a normal person but a very important one. As for confidentiality purposes we wont be mentioning his identity but instead show his current status. Meet Patient Newt, his like a nuclear bomb ready to blow anytime thats why thats his name for now. Minye-ssi please distribute the papers" Minye-noona gave us some copies of what look like the patients status, when Doc Kim mentioned earlier that this patients results and all are like a rollercoaster she wasn't joking. All his vital if not going down, its way up its normal range. I scanned more through his files and saw how he had multiple surgeries already but nothing seems to stop his escalating vitals.

"As you all can see, his not getting well but getting much worse. Last week his family decided to put him in vegetative state as to lessen the patients pain. We've done multiple surgeries on him, closing and looking to what is the problem with his body." The patients chief doctor kept on talking but I wasn't listening because everything his saying was already placed on papers in front of me.

I reread his files on all the surgeries his gone. This patient sure do hell know how to crack a doctors mind. After looking some more I found something interesting, his bacterial culture showed positive growth but no antibiotics was given, not just that, whats not making sense is that the bacterial growth days after shows no more growth. I scanned for more interesting results.

I was too focused on my own thoughts that I didn't notice Chief Yook approaching me.

"Doctor Eunjee T. I believe I've called you a thousand times, I do hope what got you so distracted is very much important and could help us in this case?" He looks at me waiting for me to say something.

"Actually, I did notice something Chief. Did you consider facing a new kind of disease causing bacteria?" I ask " I was scanning through all patient newts lab results and upon checking, he had a positive bacterial growth on its third day of incubation but showed no sign on the fifth, also the following tests for bacterial growth the following days shows the same results but no antibiotic was given. Don't you think this could be just another deadly opportunistic bacterial infection." I pointed

The other chiefs kept on looking at me as Chief Kang reviews the materials they've given to us. What I suggested was a bit possible but we'll need to do further tests to confirm my diagnosis.

"What the young doctor pointed out can be possible Chief Yook, this results can lead us to something, maybe this is a new kind of bacteria we are dealing with. Scientifically speaking, there a lot of possible reasons as to why there could be such growth on different cultures but to have them in every test made can really be suspicious. This could be a great breakthrough for our hospital" Another Chief said supporting my theory. Some of the people inside nods and some are being suspicious.

"We can still run a few more test Chief, we confirm my allegations and if something else comes up then we can atleast be a step closer to knowing what is really wrong with this patient" All eyes were on Chief Yook, like me they are also waiting for the Chiefs response.

"Very well! we can do some more tests on our patient. As someone who took notice about this, you missy are going to oversee this patient with me!" Chief Yook points at me and smiles.

He ends the meeting with me still thinking about what have I got myself into when I notice the President coming our way, well now that I look around me, I have to say my way. He stood in front of me looking high and kinda hot... which I didn't really think about just now.

"You are quite a head turner, if I didn't know better I would say you have been in this field of work for so long, but I believe you just got here months ago. We haven't met personally, I'm President Kang Jin Lim." He offers his hand to me for a shake so I did.

"I'm Eunjee T." I said while looking at him "Before anything else, I want to say thank you for giving me so much opportunity" I bowed to show him my respect.

"There no need for that, I know a good doctor when I see one. You had a great potential for something great so I didn't think twice giving you this chance." He says "If you wont mind? I would really like to know more about you so if your free, a dinner maybe?" He asks, too stunned with his offer, Doctor Kim interrupts and tells the President that we have an emergency that needs my attention, she leads me out of the room, me being completely silent about what just happened.

Did the President just asked me out?

We were in the conference room ,waiting for our manager and the writers for the new segment we were going to do, its been days since the last time I saw Eunjee and the guys has kept on asking me to come every time they visit her but I always refuse to go. It didn't take long for them to realize why I'm acting that way, they didn't ask for more but just let me do what I want.

I'm still confuse about what I feel to Eunjee, when she told me how she felt when she heard my conversation with Jackson, I felt guilty. I didn't want to hurt her nor confuse her but I do care for her. It was actually a good thing that we have so much to do cause that made me really distracted. I made sure to make myself busy just so I could redirect my focus on our comeback and not on Eunjee. I try to focus on what the boys are doing, they were as usual kidding around.

Our manager came in together with the writers and some other people I still yet to know. They sat in front of us and smiled to all of us.

"Guys, meet the people whose going to work with us during this segment" Our manager told us and so we each introduced ourselves same with the people in front of us.

"For this segment, all of your are to participate in some kind of dating kind of relationship with some of your fans. The girls whose going to work with you are going to be hand picked by JYP himself. You'll probable meet them the next time we meet. You dont have to worry about anything since this is just all for the show so we will make sure to just take and do what is necessary" the writers explained to us.

The writers continued on telling all of us about what they wanted to do during the segment, the younger ones were actually excluded from doing intimate scene, though the only intimacy they are referring to was hugging and just holding hands. Although one writer mentioned that atleast one or two of us should do a kiss on the head with one of the fans.

"Can't Mark do this one? His good with acting cute so maybe it wont be do hard for him to this." Jinyoung asks while pointing something on the paper the writer handed to us.

"Yah! What is that?" I ask him

"Nothing hyung its just a very normal scene that requires doing some aegyo and cringe worthy lines. You are made for this scene, you are so good at doing those" Jinyoung explains. I was about to him what was the lines when JYP-hyung enters together with Sana and Dahyun of Twice.

"Hyungnim what brings you here? We were just discussing about the segment." Our manager said

"Ah yesyes. I'm actually here for Jb and Mark. If thats okay? I'd like to have a word with them" Jyp says. All the staff nodded and both me and Jb went out together with Jyp and the twice members.

Judging from how JYP sighs and walks, i'm guessing that something is not right. But what could it be...
