LD {Part 5}

** 1 YEAR LATER **

Newt walked in silence, having given Fang his machete as a birthday gift. Fang smiled, holding it closely as he walked with Newt. Newt tensed as he heard voices, slowly peering around a house to look at a group of people in silence then looked at Fang, relaying the important information of how many people there was to Fang. Fang nodded, slinking over to spy.

"They're saying... Harriet offered them jobs... but they chased her away..." Fang whispered to Newt. Newt hesitated before moving to leave, gesturing for Fang to follow. Fang turned, following Newt in silence. Newt walked in silence before looking over as they were surrounded.

"Blaze! Caught some eavesdroppers!" A alpha called, a pistol in his hands. Fang tensed, pressing against Newt to stay with him.

"Those are loners, leave em alone." Blaze retorted snatching the gun. Newt watched in tense silence, hugging Fang protectively in silence. Blaze led his friend away, letting Newt and Fang leave. Newt relaxed and looked at Fang quietly, waiting for him to say he was okay. Fang smiled, looking at Newt.

"I'm fine, let's go." Fang stated. Newt hesitated before nodding and looked around, moving to go inspect a house. Fang followed, looking around in silence.

Newt sat in silence, having started a fire in the house's fireplace.

"Who were you before? I was on a cruise, going to Australia." Fang explained. Newt bit his lip and slowly looked over.

'My parents sold me into servitude to pay off my dad's debt and the man I served, a 67 year old... took an interest in me and bought me for marriage and his sexual pleasures.' Newt looked away after and sighed. Fang hugged Newt, sighing.

"No one deserves that, I hope the old pedo is dead." Fang stated.

'After the world ended, he started telling me to do things. Nasty things... made me drown a baby in front of its parents, had people beat me and watched it go down, things like that. I fought enough to keep my virginity but...' Newt slowly rolled his shirt sleeves up, revealing his scarred arms.

'It didn't go unpunished.' He looked away. Fang watched, than removed his gloves revealing several scars from previous fights.

"I protected my mom until a group overwhelmed us and killed her... ever since I avoided groups." Fang admitted. Newt hesitated before nodding and gently hugged Fang, hesitating quietly as he looked around.

'I ran into a group... one time when I tried to run from my 'spouse'.' Newt hesitated quietly. Fang hugged Newt, nodding.

"Lets just stay loners, safer than being in perverts groups." Fang offered. Newt shrugged and looked at the whip marks on his arms.

'There was one guy. Blaze. I know, it's dumb... but... I liked him. And... he understood me. Couldnt understand sign but...' Newt sighed and shrugged quietly. Fang nodded, watching.

"Well some of the best alphas are the ones who dont understand sign... I bet he'd be an amazing man... What happens if we encounter that right arm or whatever again?" Fang asked innocently. Newt shrugged and hesitated.

'Rest. I'll take first watch.' Newt motioned to Fang's bed. Fang nodded, moving to curl up in silence.

Newt stared at the fire in silence, gently stoking it in silence. Fang remained curled up, resting his eyes as he sighed. Newt sighed and stood, moving to look out a window quietly. Fang rolling over is heard, followed by whistling. Newt hesitated before moving to check on Fang quietly. Fang looked over.

"I can't sleep, I have insomnia." Fang explained. Newt hesitated before nodding and sat with Fang quietly. Fang cuddled up, looking around in silence.

'I'm sorry. I know it must be pretty boring without other kids around to play with.' Newt looked around in silence while sighing quietly. Fang shrugged, cuddling closer.

"I prefer to cuddle." Fang stated.

'No you prefer to invade my personal life and keep me alive.' Newt rolled his eyes dramatically and sparked Fang teasingly. Fang squeaked, play tickling Newt gently. Newt lightly shoved Fang and hesitated as he heard gunfire. Fang instantly hugged Newt, choosing to make it easier to stay safe. Newt hesitated, listening in silence before shrugging.

'It's far off, we're fine. I'm gonna go check the hunting snares while the dead are distracted, stay here.' Newt looked at Fang quietly. Fang looked around, hesitant on staying and nodded. Newt stood and moved to leave, taking the silenced gun Fang had given him and waved at Fang quietly to say he would be back. Fang nodded, waving back and hid in one of his many good hiding spots.

Newt walked toward the first snare, one that hung what it caught upside down. He tilted his head as he saw his catch appeared to be a very annoyed alpha.

"What the hell?!" the alpha snarled. Newt hesitated before slowly creeping into view, gun ready. The guy pulled on his leg, trying to free it in annoyed silence. Newt watched and waved in silence to get the guy's attention. The guy tensed, looking over in silence. Newt did some sign language for 'want some help?' while tilting his head slightly. The guy watched blankly, shrugging and resumed trying to free himself. Newt hesitated before taking out a knife and cut the rope, watching the alpha faceplant. The guy got up, looking over and stood walking away uncertainly.

Newt quietly walked inside and looked around, waiting for Fang to come out of hiding. Fang emerged, quickly joining Newt.

"That woman is close, i heard her." Fang stated. Newt nodded and led Fang into their secret room, shutting the door. Not two seconds later, five armed people barged in.

"Where'd they go?!" Harriet snarled and Newt hugged Fang quietly. Fang returned the hug, prepping a knife in silence. Newt bit his lip as a man started walking towards their hiding spot. Fang tensed, looking around and took a rock throwing it outside hearing a loud sound which distracted the guy.

"They probably moved on. Let's just go." Harriet scoffed and led her group out. Newt relaxed and looked around in silence. Fang looked around, relaxing and cuddled up in silence.

Newt walked in silence, having decided to move on with Fang in case Harriet came back. Fang walked with Newt, smiling at him.

"Why did she come back?" Fang asked. Newt shrugged awkwardly in silence while looking around quietly. Fang nodded, sighing as he looked around in silence. There was an awkward pause before Newt looked at his arms, something he had started doing more often. Fang looked, making Newt not look at his arms in silent anxiety.

'No alpha would want an omega that's already destroyed. That's why I tried to make you go with Harriet. She has more of a chance of getting a mate which would get you a father.' Newt sighed and looked around in silence.

"No she was evil, I can read remember, I know bad people from good people she would just enslave me." Fang replied quietly. Newt sighed and nodded while looking away.

'I'm sorry that I'm failing at getting you a father.' Newt looked at his feet quietly. Fang hugged Newt.

"I don't need a father." Fang argued. Newt hesitated before smiling quietly and returned the hug quietly. Fang smiled, hugging Newt in relaxed silence looking around to watch for danger. Newt sighed and looked over as he heard voices, leading Fang to a good hiding spot to watch a group quietly. The leader had his back to where Newt and Fang's hiding spot was, Fang remaining close to Newt to stay out of sight. Newt watched in silence while hesitating quietly, gently holding Fang. Fang moved closer to Newt, looking around in silence.

"Guys we'll set up camp in the rv store, no one goes there not even the dead." Blaze stated. Newt bit his lip and nudged Fang, motioning to a way to sneak away then did the hand signs for 'I'm right behind you.'. Fang nodded, sneaking away in silence waiting for Newt. Newt moved to follow and hesitated, watching Blaze in pained silence before looking away as he focused on heading back to Fang.

"You like him? Go say hi." Fang decided waiting for Newt to go say hi. Newt shook his head, making shooing gestures in awkward silence. Fang smiled, grabbing Newts arm and dragged him back over making them both known. Newt stiffened and tried to back away nervously, shaking his head quietly. Fang smiled, hugging Newt to hold him still as Blaze looked over curiously and waved at them in greeting. Newt looked around in awkward silence, shivering slightly as he tried to do hand signs in an authoritative way to Fang. Fang laughed, smiling at Newt innocently while Blaze approached them. Newt looked over, quickly putting Fang behind him protectively in silence.

"You two can join my group." Blaze offered while Fang let Newt be protective. Newt bit his lip and shook his head awkwardly, trying to make Fang back away.

"Mom hes trustworthy." Fang said quietly. Newt glanced at Fang in awkward silence.

'He hates me.' Newt signed to Fang quietly. Fang shook his head.

"No he doesn't, wave at him." Fang encouraged. Newt shook his head, suddenly nervous. Fang watched, looking concerned thinking Newt was scared and hugged him. Blaze tilted his head, smiling at them. Newt bit his lip and gave a very small wave. Blaze returned the wave, smiling at him while Fang looked around.
