"Well Bilbok's King wasn't very good. He used resources that weren't his to use. Every living thing needs energy, though he felt he was entitled to all the energy. Normally, energy is given off by living beings and if something is harmed, or sick it takes the extra energy." Iona explained both the war and why it was so important to not take more than what was due.

"But energy feels good and makes people happy, and so sometimes that causes people to be greedy. Somehow he figured out that elves give off a lot more energy. So he started sending people to capture them. But when elves aren't happy they can't give energy." Iona said it simply, but damon had explained to her that it was more than just being happy.

"So he needs more elves? There aren't many. Does that mean he is going to try to take over Ishnal?"

"Yeah. But at this rate all the energy will be gone very soon, you can tell by the cold weather and how the animals act." Iona shares.

"I have noticed much more death of plants and animals lately." Kurtus sighs placing his elbows on the metallic table and resting his head in them.

"What do we do? We can't face an army. What is the queen doing about all this?"

"She must have seen this coming for a while, her armies are guarding the border, but I don't think they will last for long. If they do break the borders don't fight. It's more beneficial to their king if you are alive. And take care of any wounded animals you find. Stop hunting."

"Stop hunting?" Kurtus seems offended by this.

"Let the land fix itself. Normally elves would be the ones out keeping things balanced, but with most of them gone, we have to do it ourselves and it's gonna be much harder."

"But if there's any chance of living after the war is done then its a necessary sacrifice. Thank you for understanding." Kurtus stands up and holds out his hand. Iona stands and takes it willingly.

"Has anyone ever told you that you are a bit scary?" He asks shaking her hand.

"Not scary." Iona laughs.

"I'll walk you out. Whats a little girl doing in a city like this anyways?"Kurtus opens a door and walks her out on a busy street.

"Well I am with my friend who needs to stop here and get more supplies. He is trying to find a good place for me. He said I could go explore the city. I have never been to one before." Iona shares placing her hands to her cheeks and squishing them together with excitement. Iona looks around and sees Ail.

"He was supposed to be my guide." Iona points. Kurtus kind of feeling bad calls Ail over.

"You were supposed to show her around and instead you brought her to Yurkin? What were you thinking? You should be glad we didn't turn out to be killers you Black Blood!" Kurtus yells.

"It's ok. I don't think he will betray my trust again. He was just scared and you really shouldn't say bad words." Iona pulls on Kurtus's sleeve.

"Sorry...You are too nice, one day its gonna be the end of you. Hopefully, I see you again before then." Kurtus takes Ionas hand and has her do a handshake of shorts.

"You see that you Black… Ail, she is one of us, you are now not. You understand what that means." Kurtus glares at Ail.

"Yes, sir." Ail looks upset. They begin to walk back to Drite and Jurgen.

"As I said before I am not mad, just disappointed." Iona shares.

"Thats worse." AIl takes a deep breath.

"I don't think of it that way. If I was upset or mad at you you would be my enemy. Because it is only disappointment I don't have any reason to think of you as such, that also means you can gain back my favor." Iona explains.

"Geez, now I have to earn back the favor of a six year old."

"I wanna go see Jurgen."

"Dang… I totally forgot about him." Ail placed his hand on his head realizing his own funeral was only a week away.
