"Just across that ledge is Ingram. We should really continue on." Saundra pointed out as they had all stopped to rest.
"The Darang is doing rather well, but we shouldn't make it work harder than necessary." Damon spoke like Saundra did. Fanella had decided to stay quiet on the apparent custom of calling the Granite Bear a Darang.
There hadn't been much silence despite the fact no one spoke while on the creature. Whenever they stopped it was constant questions. If only Fanella could find a waterfall, or something that would drown out the noise, something that would remind her of home.
What had possessed her to come out here anyways it's clear that humans despised each other so much that they would end each others lives. At least with species like Ogres they wouldn't fight themselves, and they were quite noble in their fighting.
Anything that took another's life couldn't be good, but with most people in the same boat she had to find another way to find peace in them. Anger could only lead her down the path she had been fighting so hard to avoid.
"For Inami's sake Fanella!" Saundra yelled at the top of her lungs. Fanella had somehow learned to block out everything allowing herself to enter the thought that burdened her so. Which was great despite the fact that a group of humans held knives out towards them.
Saundra could easily take out half the men, but it would expose that she was technically not allowed to be here. She also didn't need more blood on her hands, she couldn't guarantee that her new fascination as well as the dark elf would survive if she fought.
"Put your hands up girl! Give me your pelt!" One of the women went for her hat. The Fire Otter stood up and make a defensive position flaming up. It burned her hand and Saundra didn't know whether to laugh or apologize, so she just laughed.
"Do you us a great dishonor making your beast harm one of us." The woman grits her teeth. Fanella not understanding what she was doing glances over at Damon who would regret having put his head to his hand.
"You do me a great dishonor by raising your weapons. What have we done to condone such behavior? From what I can tell you harmed yourself, only when wishing to take something that didn't belong to you. I find that rather curious don't you?" Fanella spoke with poise as well as delicacy when putting the woman in her place.
Saundra had to place her hand over her mouth to keep in the laughter.
"Strong words, do you know who we are?" She squinted taking a step back.
"Not a clue." Fanella glanced around, never had she seen costumes such as these.
"We are the Micednu Tarre. We serve the goddess Inami in hopes she brings back the Light elven to save us from impending doom." She spins around. Both Damon and Saundra knew that Fanella could definitely help. Saundra knew that Fanella believed in light elves as well and Damon knew she was one.
Now who was going to decide to talk first. Though Fanella doubted the great goddess Inami would speak to humans, she took pity on them. To think Light elves would come to save them, it was sad.
"Ah, so you were whom I was destined to find. It makes sense now, why your land is so peaceful." Fanella smiled and looked towards Saundra and Damon who were confused and outright dumbfounded. Of course so was the woman.
"Who are you?" She yelled with tears as knives got raised higher.
"Who I am is nothing more than a warrior of Inami. Now that I know you are ally's let me assist you." Fanella smiled reaching slowly towards the woman who let down her guard.
Fanella didn't have much energy, but she could undo the pain she had caused, plus she didn't exactly lie. She may be able to get herself out of this situation, but with these people Saundra and especially Damon wouldn't get to leave. At least unless they were necessary.
"I need them to assist me." She smiled to which knives lowered and Damon and Saundra walked over almost more confused then she was at that moment.
"Let us begin, my friends." She spoke as Damon placed his hand on Fanella's shoulder and Saundra did the same looking like she knew exactly what to do.
"Inami, allow the pain of your devoted servant to be like running water and wash her of this injury." Fanella spoke words that meant nothing, meanwhile pushing through some pure energy which leaked and all that were there felt reenergized. The woman's burn was gone.
"What is your name?" The woman spoke barely finding the words while looking at her hand.
"As I said, my name is not important. I came with… a message. Inami is very proud and wishes for you to continue to serve her and to eat only what the crop yields. I am but a messenger and much go forth to… give another message."
"Is there anything else?" The woman seems like she was waiting for something specific. Fanella knew that look, power hungry. Fanella gulped.
"A Pearl Falcon will rest on the shoulder of the one most worthy of leadership in a weeks time. Follow them." She had cheated just a bit as she had seen a nearby Pearl Falcon in a nest.
Pearl Falcons were the creatures of her family, the royal family. It almost seemed befitting that one choose the leader of this… group. It was a tradition in her family. Which is why Rilien was to become king and not Maeron.
"We apologize for our behavior and await the choice of the great Pearl Falcon. Fanella just nodded not knowing exactly what to say, but that didn't stop Saundra from clearing her name.
"My name is Saundra, and I have done a great injustice to your tribe. I found your messenger, who told me that in order to repay my penance I must go with her on her journey. I hope that means we too shall be ally's." Saundra made a grand example parading around.
Damon was just shaking his head most likely wishing he was home, and not with this fool.
"Of course, as long as the Messenger agrees with this newfound alliance, we shall greet you with just as much respect." The woman nods looking to Fanella who was sort of upset with Saundra. Fanella thought of something to get her back though.
"I did, everything she spoke was true. She did leave out one thing. Whenever she is without me take her back to your land and have a feast of the harvest. A sign of the alliance so to say." Fanella smiles to Saundra who now was fully regretting the whole thing. Forced to eat plants was going to be a pain, as well as the unwanted company.
"We shall get going, we shall meet again someday." Fanella nods as the three get onto the Granite Bear and make over the last ridge to Ingram.
