"So… What happened… you! Did… Ail go to your room!" Drite too seemed very concerned on how Jurgen would take the cut on her arm.
"I got myself into some trouble. I slipped and cut myself, good thing Ail was there or this might have gotten infected." Iona smiled looking towards Ail who was wondering why she would actually bail him out.
"I see." Jurgen knew she was lying, but wondered why she was covering it up.
"I have a few people I want you to meet." He continued.
"And when there is someone who says they will take care of me, you will leave? What if they are mean?" Iona avoided eye contact.
"My ears are up here." Jurgen tried to make a joke, one that Iona got and laughed at, but Drite smiled with a confused look.
"They are weird." Iona laughed more.
"First of all they are not. Second, I wouldn't let someone who is mean take you. If you give them a chance and still don't like them we can try the next people." Jurgen made a bargain, but he did have an idea of what kind of people could handle Iona.
Iona's stomach rumbled. Drite laughed rather hard.
"Let's get you some food little one."
"My name is Iona." Iona smiled, but it was the look in her eyes, deep sadness that brought Drite's laughter to a stop.
"Go get washed up. Frije just got back from work, he's out back. You can ask him to bring in something to eat. I'll cook it up." Drite rubs the back of his neck. He glanced over at Jurgen who wasn't happy that Iona was sad.
"I am not hungry." Iona looked at Jurgen who now glanced back at her with a slight smile.
"Alright, you can walk around. Just come home when you get hungry." He said it so naturally that he forgot.
"I can't, you said they were dead." She said with a tear coming to her eye, but never falling down her cheek.
"Geez talk about sensitive… ow...owww, ok sorry. Jurgen you are going to break my arm!"
"What is wrong with you!" Jurgen spoke harshly at Drite. Iona was half a block away but could hear Jurgen. He very much reminded her of Damon. If Damon was here he would ask her to be strong. She got lost in her thoughts and soon in reality. She sat against the wall of a building hoping she'd get lucky.
"You know you shouldn't let her go out alone. It gets dangerous at night." Drite warned as Jurgen had let Iona go off.
"She won't go too far and she will be back soon, she is extremely bright, for a child."
"I know that look in your eyes. You are doing fine, and I know she really appreciates what you have done. How is the other one you brought doing?"
"I dropped her off down the street at the hospital. She's still unconscious. At this point the doctor says she won't wake up." Jurgen had forgotten about Tai.
As the night went on Jurgen began to get worried. He opened the door and Ail came behind him.
"I'm coming too." Ail nodded. Jurgen nodded and the two went off.
