Third kind of person

The Seeker Association Headquarters increases in size every time I see them, seriously, the bigger the city the bigger it gets.

= "Xir, let's head inside." = Viryon called out to me.

It's the next day and this place is filled with people of different races. From humans to the reclusive dwarves, different variants are present.

Different kinds of variants from different species are interacting to communicate with one another. This is the age of revolution or so it was called, it was not rare to see them communicating.

The way these four races socialize with one another is not something one would be able to see in the dark era. Those times were the worst, or so he was told, that time was over 7,000 years ago and it was… Von was the one who told me all about it,

Moving forward, we registered successfully for the Seeker Examination and stayed outside. No one has yet to enter and we were stuck in the wide front garden of the headquarters.

= "Hurry it up and open the doors, do you think you can keep me out like this? Do you know who I am? I am an Escarbe!" =

= "That's right, do you know how much my family donates to the Association? Do you? If you wish to keep that money then you better let me enter right now." =

It was early in the morning so it was not that hot, but there are those who were complaining like they owned that place that made me really want to smack them in the face and drag their faces to the ground.

Most of these arrogant fellows are humans, but even in the ranks of Dwarves, Titans, and Elves there were those who were acting high and mighty.

Van watched the Titans acting like that with disgust and scoffed at them as he found such acts distasteful for a warrior.

Viryon on the other hand wished to smack such elves in the face.

= "This is why I hate my own kind sometimes." = He said with a sigh.

= "No everyone has a brain, Vir. Sometimes, there are just stupid beings in the race mixed with those who have common sense." = I answered with an honest remark.

Vir seemed to have found my remark funny, I wonder why. Making jokes and understand one is really hard, but, I need to learn as it will become useful in certain situations, or so I was told.

Going back to the Seeker Association, the door finally opened after confirming that everyone present had already registered and received a tag. The tag was a wrist band and I wore one as well.

From the doors of the Association came an old man with a white beard. He held a staff on his right hand and I assumed it must have been most likely used as means to stand out. This old fogey still likes being in the limelight I see. I can use that.

With him there was a girl around her twenties who was quietly placing dark bricks on the ground, lining them up with meticulousness. The bricks formed a half-circle around the entrance of the Seeker's Association.

After going through the trouble of doing all that, the lady looked at the examinees and smirked before going one side of the entrance, taking out a folding chair, a miniature table and setting it neatly.

She sat on her fordable chair and placed her feet on the miniature table.

= "Old man, you may speak." =

The lady who seemed to be an assistant earlier opened her mouth to speak and the old man who looked like a master of magic opened his mouth to speak.

= "Everyone who wish to undergo the examination, please step forward and cross this black bricks, if you can do that before noon, then we can move forward with the exam." =

The old man turned his back against the group and tapped the ground with his staff. Mana filed the area, it originated from the old man, no, that is incorrect, it originated from the black bricks, the old man merely activated these bricks.

Interestingly, an invisible light appeared from the black bricks, the lights interconnected, and finally, it formed a wall of pure mana. This wall is visible to the eyes of someone who has trained mana manipulation.

With the flow of mana, one can determine that only those with quality mana control to dissipate the impact of the mana wall will be granted entrance. And it seems like the first contender figured it out and took a step forward.

= "Heh, just step forward? What kind of bullshit is that? Acting so mysteriously for no reason." =

Yes, I agree. Although this person is one the humans I wished to drag to the mud and then publicly hang, I had to say he is rather k…

= "Ugh! Ow!" =

He was sent flying? Huh? Why didn't he control his mana properly? Why didn't he manipulate his mana properly? It is so simple. Oh, here's another…

= "Ugh!" =

Another was sent flying? Oh, he's even coughing up blood.

I don't know what face I am making but Vir seemed to have noticed something odd and talked.

= "Xir? Do you find what they are doing excruciating to watch? Do you question why they are acting like they can't see the flow of mana?" =

= "Yes, mana flow is the foundation of all mana manipulators, why do they stand here and act like idiots?" =

= "They are not acting like idiots, they indeed cannot see the flow of mana. You may think this is an easy test, but for normal people, this is hell-like." =

With an oh, I understood what he meant. These people lack talent, and they fail to 'properly' control mana.

My whole life, I only ever met people with no chances of becoming mana manipulators and those who has a high aptitude for it.

This is my first time seeing them.

They were not acting like idiots, they are simply lacking. And those who are lacking are the people with the loudest barks.

[So this is what a person who lacks the talent.]
