Aizhe was beyond shocked. Her rosy cheeks deepened in shade and she immediately retreated her glisty eyes from his. She took her hands away and she started to sweat in all over her body.
Long time ago, her Granny told her that man and woman were like two souls that were made to be with each other. When met, they would instinctly click.
When she thought back to that, her imaginations ran wild. She thought that they were made for each other but in reality they were not. Ah Si was so different from her and she knew it the best. She wanted to be something of her own.
She had no idea why but her heart was pounding loudly and she was desperate.
Aizhe stood there as she didn't know what to do or say next. The walls that had been trying to resurface in her started to slowly crumble apart. Pieces and pieces of them were falling infront of her and Ah Si was the one to break them apart.
"Si.." she started. "I am sorry..I can't.." She blinked as she looked away from his hopeful gaze. Tears threatened to come out but Aizhe held it in. She felt beyond tensed at this moment.
The man she had considered her friend and saviour in herlife was announcing he liked her, what was she supposed to do?
She had no idea how she felt for him, but she knew every time he looked at her, this heart will pound loudly and her eyes would be fixed on him.
Was this love? When Aizhe thought of the possibility, she shook her head in denial. Every time she had loved someone, they left her.
They made her feel lonely in this world and she couldn't risk it with him. She would rather keep someone in distance so she could be with them for a long time.
The back of her eyes stung and she waited in anticipation for his reaction.
His face which was radiating warmth and love earlier froze when he heard her and his hands dropped in a daze. His eyes looked like an ocean filled with deep ink and his face turned stoic almost immediately. His expression darkened a bit, however he hadn't let that get over him.
He couldn't believe his ears but he knew she wasn't any easy girl either. He was feeling emotional but it wasn't in his personality to be one. He quickly pulled himself together and waved his hands to tell her it was fine.
This scene broke Aizhe apart and she felt her heart ache for some reason. The more she denied, the more it came out clear to her that she might have developed some feelings for him.
He looked away and stood up to sit on his swivel chair. He looked down on the pile of papers in a deep thoughts. He lost for the first time in his life. He was glad it was for her, but desperate at the same time that he couldn't win her over. He was agitated but his expression was really calm.
The atmosphere immediately turned raw. Aizhe's thundering heart seemed like it would come out of her rib cage anytime soon. The more she looked at his face, the more she felt her toes curl and blood freeze. His calming face was more scarier than his angry one. She had never seen anyone wear that look. It was terrifying but she knew she was the cause for it.
However even so, Aizhe knew he wouldn't do anything. His face might be darker than the devils but his heart was made out of gold. He was a nice man.
