Aizhe closed her eyes and uttered (小奇迹 ) 'Xiǎo qíjī'. It took a time for the name to settle in everyone's mind and when it did, applause and cheers started to ring everywhere. That name was so unique. Similarly to her birth story, the name's definition was 'little miracle.'
Aizhe smiled as she looked at the crowd and then at the dazed Ai. When she saw her embodiment, she paused and thought over. 'Did she not like it?'
Aizhe reckoned over that and she held on to their clasped hands tightly as she asked her what happened.
"The name is exactly what my feelings were like when I laid my eyes on her." Sighing relieved, Aizhe hugged her. She thought she didn't like the name at all. Thankfully it wasn't the matter. She hugged her sideways as she peered down at her with a warm look.
"Ai sister, 'Xiǎo qíjī is a miracle in our life. That fact is even implied on her pure face," Aizhe said as she looked at the content, and obviously, well-loved tot, ready to explore her new world with excitement.
Hearing their cozy talks, Lu Jung smiled and joined the hug to show his presence. He looked at the suddenly confused girls and he spoke out in a manly tone.
"Ladies, if you are done with your talks, can we please go and serve the guests..?" Nodding her head, Ai seemed to have remembered something and she immediately clasped on to his shoulders as she said: "Yeah, yeah, let's go, wait...Aizhe, why don't you meet others while I ask the chef to serve everyone?," she suggested to her.
Aizhe hesitantly nodded as she looked around for anyone she could talk to. During the two weeks she had before the Li's banquet, Aizhe mustered some of the high societies etiquette and manners.
Her uncle took time to even give her heads up and from there she learned that their lives weren't that fancy. If not for him, she would have long ago quit that class. She always wondered why did someone have to go around acting like someone they weren't. 'Isn't that facade?' Sighing, she looked around and felt uninterested.
As she stood there, a hand suddenly covered her eyes. She panicked at first but when his intoxicating smell reached her nostrils, she eased down. She held his hands and giggled. "Ah Si, is that you?," Aizhe asked with a warm look. When he pulled away from her, she saw a beautiful smile blooming on his handsome face. His hands didn't let go of her hands but instead clasped their ten fingers jointly.
Ah Si who originally felt bitter not getting to be with her instantly felt good. He stood there looking at her with patience and love in his heart.
His deep eyes showed a sense of fondness and he wondered if she was really willing to give their relationship a try now.
Aizhe on the other hand knew what he wanted to hear. She looked away as she herself wondered what she should be saying at this point in time. She couldn't just say 'I like you like that, could she?'
Seeing his face changing shades, she suddenly snickered.
She held back from his hands and told him "You look like you are going to explode in a sec, Si..." Hearing her laughter, a smile automatically reached his face.
Running a hand through his coiffed long hair, he suddenly held her hands and took her to a nearby corridor where only the two could see and hear each other. Aizhe who flinched by his sudden action, opened her eyes slowly as she took in her new surrounding.
He tilted his head down to see her tolerant dewy slit brown eyes. His gaze softened and he caressed her cheeks with his long fingers. Feeling her heart pondering at his action, Aizhe rested her face on his chest, snuggling against him closer and closer. When she found a good spot, she paused at the thundering sound of his heart which was audible than hers.
Looking up, she noticed his deep black eyes that looked like an abyss of the ocean filled with black ink. It was pulling her closer and closer to it. It was so satisfying to look at it but really so dangerous once you were in.
"So..we are together now.." she quietly whispered.
When Ah Si heard that, he felt his heart drop to his stomach in shock. He couldn't believe his ears and had to hold her cheeks to ask her to repeat it again.
"What? you mean us?," Ah Si asked her with broad eyes and with shock written all over his face.
Aizhe's cheeks tinted red and she looked away as she wondered how much she must have tormented him to be like this. She snuggled back to his chest as she wondered what was next. Were they really together now? She suddenly felt excited for what was to come!
"Yes," He told her. He lowered his head as he left a quick kiss on her forehead. When he pulled away, he saw her dewy glazed eyes that were fixed on his one. He held her hands as he said:
"Aizhe, you are not allowed to push me away anymore. I need your trust. No other girl will ever take your place and even if she does, she will never take your place in my heart. Remember that." After he firmly said that, he saw a pleasant smile bloom on her pure face. She looked more beautiful this way. Her eyes looked like shining stars were going to reflect from it. So ethereal.
"In that case, that girl.." Aizhe asked pointing towards Fiaso who was sitting in the bar exhausted.
Ah Si heard her slightly annoyed tone and he smirked. Looping his arms around her waist, he muttered "Cousin, "
When Aizhe's anxious hear that, she immediately felt like she was being petty earlier. Her gaze repressed as she thought of how she treated him a while ago.
She thought about it for a while and nodded her head.
"Okay, I believe in you..." she said smiling at him brightly. Although not a huge step towards making his woman yet, the fact that they were already in a relationship was a huge success for Ah Si.
Hugging her tight in his embrace, he felt like he was the happiest man on earth. He couldn't bring himself away to separate from her. Looking down at her, he realized that she was staring at nothingness.
He shook her a little and ask her what happened. "I just feel so contented right now Si. I hope things stay this calm.." Seeing her calming expression towards this whole process, he knew she must have felt the same way as him. Ah Si tightened his hold on her as he showed her a slight uplift of his mouth.
Her simple sentence was enough to warm his chest. She was considerate of their relationship as much as he was and that made Ah Si feel like he was over the moon.¹
When she was about to go on, a phone call cut their talk short. She looked at the dialer and hesitated. On second thought, she picked it up and as expected, a thundering tone reached her.
She took the phone a bit away from her ears as winced by the loud tone.
"Li Na, could you please explain nicely," Hearing the name, Ah Si's ears suddenly got alerted.
He looked at Aizhe with a mysterious look. His hands held her hand automatically as that evening's scene flashed fresh in his mind. Appearing composed, he wondered why she must have called her.
His grip tightened when he saw a deep set of lines forming on her forehead. Hissing by the sudden pain on her arms, Aizhe looked at him with a flash of pain in her face. Ah Si immediately let go of her as he patted the spot with his thumb, looking at her apologetically.
Finding it soothing, she calmly held back on to his hands to reassure him she was fine.
"Yes Li Na, I hear you, I will come now..yeah, nothing will happen to him, I will call Brother Chen on the way out.." she said disconnecting the call immediately.
Sighing, she looked into the wondering gaze of Ah Si and she let go of his arms to look for her bag.
Founding it near the couch, she trotted towards there, seemingly in a haste.
"Where are you going in such haste?," Aizhe turned around as she slung the bag on her shoulders. She held his arms and said: "Ah Si, I am in urgent now, I will call you when I reach home..okay, bye!" Slipping from his hands, Aizhe dashed towards the main door.
The door clicked and it automatically opened its two flanks and her figure went pass there urgently.
Ah Si on the other hand kept on staring as he wondered what just happened. When his daze broke, he looked around for a particular person and when he finally saw her standing at the bar looking uninterested by the cheering crowd, he walked there instead of following after Aizhe.
The stillness in his eyes showed fear yet a certainty. He walked until he stood next to her. "I need your assistance, now."
