Chapter 29: Struggling With The Changes

Within what felt like a small moment I awoke.

To find that I was now laying within a pile of rubble.

What had happend? How much time had passed?

The first thing I had to confirm was if the Metamorphosis or evolution had actually happened.

As I quickly checked my status my stamina had almost reached 0, on the otherhand my health and mana had skyrocketed. And the most important thing I checked last... my race name had chanced...

Instead of I was now called . As I checked my tier it had also gone up by one. Relieved I put my head down to the ground only to find that the rubble got instantly crushed by me.

Stattled by this, I swiped my tail across, that was when I realized... I was the one who had afflicted this much damage, why? Because I had grown out of proportion.

Embarrassed I stood up and looked underneath me, what I found... was a empty husk of my previous form. Now even more emberrased by my new form I began to blush, slammed into the fround and covered my eyes with my claws.

This continued for a while, as I eventually calmed down Inrealized something of more importance...

I had to replenish my energy... I had to eat!

As I looked around there wasn't a living thing for miles... I sighed in frustration...

*sigh*

For now the best thing to do was to carefully continue on my journey, hoping to find a way out. But when I put down my feet, stood up and wanted to take my first step forward I instantly collapsed, I wasn't used to my new body proportions.

It became clear that a lot more strenght was needed to carry my weight. But... did I still have the points to invest in it? Again I opened my status window, hoping to increase my STR attribute I quickly scrolled down.

With this attribute title unlocked I tried standing once more, as I did... it became much easier to walk almost like how it was before,

but then I collapsed once more...

This time because of my tail... my tail was ginormous in comparison with the size that it was before! I had to find a way, to keep it in the air, without letting it constantly dropping it to the ground... man... This could become such a hassle.

I sighed knowing it would take a while to get used to... thank god I still had my conjuration abilities!

Because if I would encounter someone stronger right now... I would have been done for without it...

I began stumbling onward in the hopes of finding a way up, but instead at the each of the area nothing of the sort could be found... would this mean?

No... it can't mean I have to climb all the way back right?! There has to be another way, right?!

Desperatly I began to follow the edges of the area hoping to find another way up, the area was huge... so I didn't know when I would encounter anything of the sort... but eventually after a long time of stumbling and struggling forwards with my tail slamming continuously into the ground.

I encountered something which looked like a corridor.

Struggling to walk further I had to find a way through... But the only way through seemed to be me stumbling through. As I did, I entered the corridor.

Without any sign of light at the end of it I stumbled further. As I stumbled through it, I had a peculiar feeling, one telling me I wasn't getting any further...

Even if I knew I was inching further and further it indeed seemed like I didn't... As I looked around I remembered I had and .

Quickly both activated allowing me to see in the dark. But what I saw... was worse than the off-feeling.

I couldn't see the end of the corridor, even with my , but what I did notice were cracks in the wall which had roots growing out of them. Black as tar, they almost felt like shadows whom are holding me back. At least I now knew why I struggled so much to advance any further...

Still... even if they blocked and held back my advance to the other end, they didn't feel like physical roots...

Then again... they were indeed holding me back, hmm... peculiar!

The first thing that came to mind was for me to scorch all the roots away with my flames. So I did.

But when I did, I didn't get the complete result which I had hoped for.

The roots withered away, making way for me to advance, but when I wanted to. They quickly grew back, entangling not just my feet, but neck and tail too! What was there to do? How could I get free?

Trapped inside my fears began creeping in slowly when I suddenly heard a wishper from the side...

"Poor little lizard... what to do, what to do?"

I tried looking to the side, as I did one of the roots curled around my neck making it almost impossible to turn. I struggled to look besides me as I wanted to know who was talking...

And surely when I did... Nothing...

Nothing could be seen.

Within that moment I sighed and calmed down, allowing the roots to loosen their grips, but then something landed on top of me, caressing my scales, neck and face.

"You thought I would show myself so easily?

Well... think again! Hyahahahaha!"

Startled by this I stiffened up, the roots slowly tightening their grip again as if they felt and reacted to my fear... What was I to do? What could I do?

Restless I waited, hoping for the voice to reply...

Silence...

As the anticipation got to me, I had to know, so I shouted out hoping the one who talked was still there.

Who are you? What do you want with me?

But again... nothing but silence and the rustling of roots...

A sigh of helplessness left my lungs,

I dangled in the air as the roots held me up.

Even withour my new found strenght I was unable to break free, the roots tightening their grips around me even using my elemental abilities would only give me enough time for a slight breather...

Which was why I began giving up on escaping. my head felt down sulking. Echoing throught the depths of the corridor... Soon after the silence was broken by laughter.

"Hahahaha! I didn't know you would give up so soon... That's no fun at all..."

I held my head down wirhout giving notice to the voice, when suddenly I heard a clapping noice which made the roots instantly vanish.

Slamming into the ground I turned around and looked up, what I say changed me forever...
