Conference

City: Washington DC

Location: Pentagon

The elevator doors opened to an underground level giving the 2 men inside a view of the lively exterior floor. One young man in his mid twenties was holding a stack of folders flipped through some of them while mumbling to himself. The other noticeably older man was smoking a cigarette as he put his phone into his pocket. "That Zeke... never waiting for me to finish what I have to say!" As he growled to himself while scanning the rather noisy area while rolling his shoulders while pulling his sides suit jacket. His black suit similar to what Zeke himself was wearing yet his own seemed a lot sharper in a unique way.

As the two men strapped out of the elevator a few employees talking amongst themselves others passed them taking their previous positions within the elevator as the doors slowly shut.

"General Taylor, Zeke wouldn't hang up on you in a situation like this, I suspect something happened to the connection over there. We both know that over 85% of the city was wiped out when that meteor fell leaving some of the farthest unscathed. There was probably a dead zone he drove into." The skinny man said as straightened up the few folders he had before walking ahead of Taylor.

"General!" People would occasionally stop and salute someone of Taylor's status but as he has been in this for so long he himself has grown numb to it. "Carlson get me a report on the survivors, wounded, and casualties. Also get me a report another report on the other meteors that fell in the world. Even if the one in New York was the first it set off a chain reaction that brought down a few others around the globe. I want information for each one and I want it ASAP!" Taylor said as he glared at Carlson while walking into a conference room.

Carlson stayed outside of the room as he went to gather information about each fallen meteor. Closing the door to the room the noise from the outer area was lowered to an unnoticeable level. Taylor took a seat at the head of the empty table as the surrounding glass tinted and the indoor lights tinted. A projector turned on as a call was being connected to the room. With a three by two row of rectangles, the 6 vertical rectangles all had titles at the bottom or top of each respective box.

The box one that stood out from the rest was the only box that had an eagle background for it, the farthest box at the top right, predetermined to be labeled , President Roche.

Taylor waited a few minutes as he rested his head against his fingers which he had formed into a bridge. The sound of a beep was heard as seconds later he sighed and looked at the projector screen showing all of the boxes have loading bars on them. One by one every person was connected to the meeting call except for the president. For everyone in the call, their faces were shown but backgrounds put to black or blurred immensely . Their locations were meant to me undisclosed at this time so as the president finally connected to the call they all stood up including Taylor. "Mr. President!" They all greeted only to get a short chuckle and a separate, "at ease gentleman, we have business to discuss so let's get this over quickly shall we? I was enjoying a beer with a good buddy of mine before all of this meteor stuff happened.

With a smile from everyone else relaxing the atmosphere one man in a formal white military outfit with multiple medals on the chest area raised his hand. "Gentleman and Mr. President, this meteor strike brought devastation on another scale that what we had thought was possible. What is our plan for disaster relief for these cities?" He asked as he leaned forward with his arms spread in front of his body.

Taylor looked over this man's and smiled faintly before quickly raising his hand. "I have my men in route in order to get a more detailed report and begin providing disaster relief. I even have another team on standby awaiting order in case something were to happen which required them to be mobilized." Taylor took this opportunity to sit back against his seat while looking at the the president's section, "Mr. president I will have a detailed report for you in a minimum 6 hours.

"I see, good going Taylor, I expect that report tomorrow morning. Now gentleman it's fairly late..." The president said as he checked his wrist watch, "Almost 2am... if nobody else has anything to say let's have another meeting at 11 in the morning later today." The president yawned and looked over each section of participating callers. These men were his closest confidants so he trusted them to get the answers he needed while bringing up more information in the next meeting.

After the president spoke a few concerns were thrown out by some people speaking on the topic of the multiple meteor impacts across the world and their diplomatic response to them. Taylor sat back without speaking until the meeting finally ended. He sighed as he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand and stood up stretching his arms some. As he opened the door to the conference room Carlson stood up from a nearby bench and walked over.

Before Carlson could speak Taylor held up his hand before patting Carlson on the shoulder, "Let's get something rest buddy, I should have been asleep hours ago. Come back in the morning and if any new information comes up just tell me later." Taylor said in a calm voice that wasn't nearly as annoyed as it was when they first got there.

"Yes sir... thank you very much" Carlson said as he smiled back at his boss. "I'll have the files ready for you in the morning, have a good rest sit. Goodnight Mr. Taylor..." With a sigh Carlson began walking to the elevator with his folders in hand. Taylor followed him with his eyes until the elevator doors shut cutting off his gaze.

"He's a hard working kid... maybe I'll give him some vacation time soon..." Taylor smiled and walked back into the conference room not bothering to try and make it home with how low his energy was. As the door shut to the room the sounds from the less busy outside area was once again lowered to an unnoticeable level.
