Chapter 9.) Unbeknownst Betrayal

The group of 4 walked off the roof, down the stairs, and out the building nonchalantly like they didn't have a care in the world.

But truthfully, they never let their guard down. They were watching their surroundings and checking every corner before they passed.

'When we get out, if we still don't find the final guy, then we'll have to take care of the entire building.' Inorin stated feeling semi-frustrated

They continued to look out for the last enemy, the single archer, until they finally made it safely out the building.

Inorin, Yūki, and Yuri walked through the front double doors and onto the street. And once again Koeda disappeared, even though she was walking with the team while they were in the building.

"Do it now?" Yūki asked

Inorin and Yuri both nodded in acceptance.

So Yūki used 'Dimension Style: Black Hole' and the entire building as well as 3 others began to compact into a small ball in the sky.

"Wow, how's she this powerful? It's honestly amazing." Yuri said in a daze

'She is good. She could be problematic if I don't stay on my guard.' Inorin thought

"Good! Now let's get out of here, we're wide open."

They began heading towards the south industrial district awaiting an encounter with a unsuspecting enemy.

Koeda maintained her distance and a high field of view in search of opportunities to strike unsuspecting enemies.

'She may be a new Ender player but she's clearly not new to VRMMO games. She has a good battle sense, a very resourceful play style, and is a reserved but great tactician.' Inorin thought to himself

The 2 km industrial district was in the mid- left part of the whole map, and the group had traveled about 1.8 km of the entire district without finding a single player.

They got bored of walking and decided to take a break at one of the last few buildings.

"Hey Aether, can you give me one of those energy drinks you got from that house in the suburbs?" Yuri asked

"…."

"Aether!" He said while tapping Inorin

"Huh, oh what's up?"

"The energy drink"

Inorin had forgot he told Yuri a false name but he expected him to check his ID Card by now.

"Oh yeah here you go. I was lost in thought for a second." Inorin said handing him a drink from his inventory.

"We should all drink one then get on the move so we can reach to the arena before sunset." Said Yuri

'Rin, there's a team in the windows of the building across from us!' Koeda said to Inorin in a private chat.

"Change of plans, it looks like we have some action at the building on the other side of the street."

"Yūki we may have to rely on you to handle this."

"What do you mean?"

"We can quickly get done with this fight if you take the entire building out with a strong move. Koeda and I can handle anyone who makes it out alive."

"So what will I do then?" Yuri butted in to say

"Your movement speed is slow and more than likely the enemies will be running away rather than coming to fight us. So you might as well just hang back and serve as our lookout." Inorin pleaded

"Aw man, well I guess if the captain says so then I have no choice but to follow orders." Yuri replied sadly

"Who made me the captain? I wasn't informed of this. Never mind I don't care either way."

'Koeda this is our chance to get our last kills to pass. If Yūki is going to betray us, now would be the perfect time.' Inorin said telepathically

Koeda nodded even though Inorin wasn't by her to see it.

"I'll start now if that's okay with you guys."

"Sure Yūki go ahead. We're ready when you are!"

Yūki went to the 5th floor of the 15 story hotel building and found a room on the front side facing the enemies.

'I'll start now but I won't use any exceedingly strong magic attacks.'

Inorin launched an arrow towards the enemy on the lowest level, shattering the window and piercing him through the head.

At the same time, Koeda threw two kunai knives from about 60 meters out at the two enemies closest to each other.

One of them hit a unsuspecting girl in the eye killing her instantly and the other pinned a distracted guy's hand to the wall behind him.

Seeing Koeda set him up for a shot, Inorin fired another arrow at the pinned down enemy before Yūki even released her first attack.

*Shadow Style: Unholy Execution*

'Good now even if she attempted to betray us she would only have 2 kills and still need another.'

A magic circle appeared around the building sucking the life out of anything inside its radius.

'Rin the last standing enemy escaped the building before Yūki's attack could finish him.'

*Battle Notice: Your teammate has been killed; 'Yuri'.*

Inorin- healthy

Yūki- injured

Yuri- deceased

Koeda- healthy

"What, who could've killed Yuri?" Inorin asked hysterically

"I did." A women behind him said

It was Yūki standing behind him with Yuri's long axe in her hands.

"But why would you do it? You had no reason to betray us."

"True, I HAD no reason at first. That is until you and Koeda decided to steal my kills. I could tell you two didn't trust me from the beginning."

"But we left the last kill for you since you only needed one more." Koeda interrupted while jumping in the window.

"One? I thought she needed two." Inorin stated

"No, Rin the last archer from the second team we fought was killed by her when she destroyed the building but she didn't mention it."

"Koeda, I knew you would be the one I had to worry about. You're too perceptive."

'I'm going to kill her. I didn't really care for Yuri but he trusted me so the least I can do is avenge him.'

"I'm not the one you should be worried about!" Koeda said as she turned around to go back out the window.

*Shadow Step*

Inorin vanished and appeared in front of Yūki, switching with Yuri's axe. Then he grabbed her and flung her out the window.

"Let's go!" He said while throwing her.

His entire persona had disappeared and the only thing that was left was a dark and gloomy presence.

After jumping out of the window, with Yūki in his arm, he used Dimensional Rift to teleport them to the ground.

As soon as he touched the ground he had moved Yūki from his under arm to the air. Gripping her neck with his left hand, he slammed her into the ground, cracking it with the back of her head.

"Get up! I'll give you a chance to fight back." He said as he stepped back from her body.

"You're going to regret that!" She yelled at his back.

She took the purple cloak that was covering her off and her entire body flashed green.

"I've been hiding my true strength but now I'm going all out."

'Rin, that cloak was also concealing her stats, she's actually a level 26 and most of her attributes are around 250.' Koeda told Inorin in a private chat.

"No matter, you're going to die either way."

Frustrated by this, Yūki decided to go on the offensive.

*Quintuple Blow*

*Dimension Laser*

Four light beams and a laser beam headed straight for Inorin.

'There's no point in using any of my attacks on you."

*Shadow Step*

He switched places with Yūki and her laser attack severed her left arm. But the Quintuple Blow had tracking and auto corrected it's path to strike Inorin.

"Unexpected but no matter."

*Endless Shadow*

The four light beams went into a wall of nothingness.

"Are you done? I think it's my turn now."

Inorin uncrossed his arms and assumed a stance for offense.

"I'll send you to the same place you sent Yuri."
