"Is this the beginning of an end or the end of a beginning?
Anyhow it results to be, I just don't want lose any of my child again while I still breath. If I'm destined to witness the grave of any of my child, I want my breath to be taken before such sight", Mr Biobaku soliloquize.
The soliloquy continues;
"I hope I get over this pain, I might not be whole again but I just hope I stay a bit alive to father my kids and to celebrate their success, I'm sure Layo will be proud of that. My daughter, anywhere you are I want you to know that I'll always love you and I'll do all I can in ensuring that all your wishes come true through your siblings."
Mr Biobaku rose from the couch where he spent his last night. It was the first day of him returning back to work since the loss of his beloved daughter.
His work as a security man at the popular Best Price filling station demands him to always leave home at dawn while his entire family are still in their sleep and return home at dusk. He whispered to the ears of his wife and said; "Please watch over the kids, I'm out".
Mrs Biobaku who was close to being awake replied; "Okay, Good luck".
The calamity that recently befell the family of Biobaku seems to have restored the lost love between Mr Biobaku and his wife.
Its two days left for Ayo, Aduke and Sade to get themselves prepared to write their missed exams at school. Over the days since they received the notification from Mr Ben the new Vice Principal that they're privilege to write their missed exams, they've at immediate effect resumed back to their books while they all pulled off their shells of broods. Hence, the memories of Layo seems to remain unforgettable as they boldly framed her picture in the room. She might be gone but she is still alive in the minds of everyone.
However, the motivation came from Mrs Biobaku. She encouraged her kids to ensure that they come out with excellent results in their respective exams. She encouraged them not to do it only for themselves but to do it for Layo who could no longer write an exam and who will be proud knowing that her brothers and sisters are becoming elites of the class and the community at large.
The motivation from her really lifted the soul of Ayo and his sisters for they all couldn't stop reading all day.
"Ayo, how are you?", Ayeni who came around with Adam to pay the family a visit asked.
Oh, A.Y for Ayeni, I'm doing well, what choice do I have? Ayo replied.
"Adam, how have you been? Its been few weeks I last saw you," Ayo said.
"I've been fine, I've just not been around. I went to Apesin Community with my dad to labour with a contractor of a two-storey building. I heard you're preparing for your exams?" Adam asked.
"Yes, i am, with my sisters". Ayo replied.
"Why not wait a bit, at least we still got eighteen days to resumption", Ayeni emphasized.
"Yes, I know. I just want us to write the exams once and also have some days to also enjoy the holiday like you", Ayo replied as they all laughed..
Where are your sisters?, Ayeni asked.
"They're taking a nap. We have been reading all day, so I encouraged them to get some rest before we go back to our books, however, we've been preparing for the exams before the interlude of my sister's demise came through", Ayo emphasized.
"That's true though, I remember myself and Layo reads together. May her soul rest in peace"; Ayeni said.
"Amen", they all chorused.
Its the first day of exam, the exam which will be spanning for three days..
Day One : Everything seems perfect with no pressure from the exams questions as Ayo and Aduke couldn't stop exchanging chuckles just as Sade also did..
"Brother, everything you thought and revised with me was exactly what appeared in my exams. Thank you my guardian angel, I love you"; Aduke said to Ayo..
"Sister, i love you more. You don't need to thank me, its obviously my responsibility. I'm your second dad remember", Ayo replied as they both laughed.
"Let's go home!
Father and daughter", Sade longed..
Day Two: The pressure seems to be well contained as they all laughed and happily went home.
Day Three : Seems to have a slight difference with the usuals from Sade as she was unsure if the solution she gave to her last mathematics question was right. But Aduke and Ayo seems to have had a perfect outing with the examination that ends today.
"Dad, the exams were simple. I answered every question correctly", Aduke said to Mr Biobaku.
"Don't say it's simple, say you prepared well for it", Ayo interrupted.
"A-aaa-du-ke, how sure are you that you got all the answers right? Let's wait for your results.
But, I believe you'll make me proud, my brilliant daughter; Mr Biobaku said appraising his daughter with pats on her head.
"But dad, all thanks to Ayo, he taught me everything. He is my second dad", Aduke comically said..
Two days later, Mr Ben came visiting the family of Biobaku along with the Head of Teachers of the Holy Boys and Girls school. Mr Biobaku whose availability is very much unusual at such days of the week (Mondays) seems to be home with his family after being granted some days off from work while he intended to spend on the farm.
But by happenstance the two visitors met him at home and his wife at home.
"Good Morning sir"
"Good Morning ma", Mr Ben said as he exchange pleasantries with Mr Biobaku and his wife
"This is Mr Odule, the head of teachers", Mr Ben said.
"Good Morning sir"
"Good Morning ma", Mr Odule said.
"Good Morning, thank you for coming", Mr Biobaku replied.
"Sir, we are here with the exam result of your children. We took the responsibility of bringing it ourselves because we are in awe of how wonderfully well they performed despite being under the condition of a psychological stress.
"Ayo, Aduke, Sade, you all should come here, your teacher is here", Mrs Biobaku longed.
Its with a joyous, pleased and amazed heart to inform you that Ayo came out 1st in his class.
"Wow", thanks my son; Mr Biobaku happily said as Mrs Biobaku who seems to have always believed in Ayo wore a glistening smile that defines happiness on her face.
And for the first time, Sade also appeared on the list of the Top 5 students in her class, she came out 2nd.
"Impressive!!!", Mr Biobaku jammed his palms together..
What about my darling Aduke? Mr Biobaku anxiously asked.
She did not just came out as the 1st in her class but came out with a large margin between she and the 2nd position.
"Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa", Ayo, Aduke and Sade all stood up to hug each other as they were exhibiting their dancing prowess to celebrate their success.
Mrs Biobaku who couldn't hide her emotions looked up to the sky with a wet eye.
She said;
"Layo, we will make you proud".
"Congratulations sir, this are the results. We will want to take our leave now, but please that magic you performed on your kids, don't stop performing it cause it promises them a fulfilling future", Mr Odule concluded.
"Thank you, God Bless you for every gestures", Mr Biobaku said and he exchanged hand shakes with the teachers.
"Congratulations to you all, myself and your mother are so proud of you. Please keep it up, we love you" Mr Biobaku remarked.
"Mommy, mommy, we will build you a house and take you in the aeroplane", Aduke happily said as they all hugged their parents with utmost joy in their hearts.
"I think this is the Beginning of An End", Mr Biobaku whispered.
