Its a cloudy Friday morning. Tens of youths in Aiyekoto's community both masculine and feminine folks are outside the police station protesting for the release of their youth leader and others arrested after getting to know that in few days, the case will be addressed in the court.
They keep chanting;
"We no go gree oo,
We no gree,
Release Falana and others for us,
We no go gree".
"My dear civil youths of the community, i appreciate your democratic approach towards advocating for your wants.
But I want you all to know that this case is beyond the Police officers, its no longer in our hands cause the King's family have already charged the accused to court, the case is scheduled to happen on Monday 10:00am. All you need to do now is to get a lawyer for the accused and pray for them to meet with mercy at the court. I was informed that Falana's father is an experienced Barrister, I think that's a great stride towards the representation of the accused in the court.
And you can storm the court in numbers the way you did today", the D.S.P said.
"Alright, Oga police. We shall do just as you've said but play your part too.
We all know what Falana did was pure justice for the innocent", a youth said in the crowd.
The youth took their leave from the police station while they informed themselves to meet at the court venue at the scheduled time.
They all respectively dispersed to their respective homes to get themselves prepared for Monday.
The next day, some factions of the community youths gathered themselves to pray for a lenient and merciful judgment on Falana and his fellows on Monday..
"Once again, how many are those alleged and arrested?" Barrister Johnson asked his wife.
"I think they're 7 including my son," Mrs Funmilayo Johnson replied.
"We will need to get families of the victims that was kidnapped and killed by the King at the court, cause they need to confirm that they witnessed the confession processes of the case and I'll also need to call Chief Ladoja as a witness of the confession.
You don't need to shed yourself with incessant and dreadful worries, all you need do is to pray, we shall come out victorious on Monday." Barrister Johnson said as he pat his wife on the head.
"I heard the case of Falana and his colleagues will be charged to court on Monday, I hope he meets with mercy cause that young man is actually a good guy, he has been a strong hold of this community", Mr Biobaku said to his family.
"So I heard father. I remember how he stood by us when we lost Layo. While others were refraining from carrying the butchered body of Layo, he solely took it upon himself to wrap and carry Layo's body", Ayo buttressed.
Sade also emphasized;
"He also came to me and told me to stay strong that very soon the culprit would be apprehended and there won't be any form of exoneration for such person.
He advised me to stay strong for my younger ones. He is an amazing uncle, I pray he encounters mercy in the eyes of the judge."
"My dear people of Aiyekoto's community, I've an important message for you from the palace. In the bid to avoid the throne and our community from being Kingless, the chiefs have decided to have the divination of the gods tomorrow to decide who the new king will be.
Please let's do all we can to avail ourselves at the palace tomorrow by noon.
I hope I've said it well?" The town crier asked.
"Yes, you have", the crowd chorused..
"Who do you think the gods will choose as our new king?
Cause from generations, the kingship title has been within the lineage of the King's family and its known to us all that the only sibling of the king is a female and she is abroad and never willing to return home cause she has for years settled with her family in America. Also we are also aware the she was not in good terms with her brother, we were even told she has already disowned him that's why she did not even come home to commiserate with the wife and kids of the King after his demise," Mrs Biobaku addressed and asked Mr Biobaku.
"Well, the words of the gods might sometimes take a different dimension.
The situation on ground is a very complicated state and the chiefs must adhere to the instructions given by the gods. Let's wait and see what will unfold tomorrow." Mr Biobaku replied.
"I am anxious to know", Ayo emphasized.
The next day which happens to be a Sunday and a weekend where almost everyone in the community will be at home with their respective family. The whole community is getting themselves ready to storm the palace and witness the divination of the gods.
"Its almost noon and we are still home, hurry and let's go," Mr Biobaku said to his kids as Mrs Biobaku who is feeling feverish will be staying back at home while she recuperates and anxiously awaits the results.
"We welcome you all this noon to the palace, thank you for always being a great representative of this community and for always availing yourself to every progressive discussion of this community despite we always falling short of keeping you informed within a short period of time. The consultation will take just few minutes. Thank you once again. Priest Adifala, you got the floor.." Chief Ladoja humbly said.
"Incantations! Incantations!! Incantations!!!
The priest continues with eulogies and appraisals of the gods.
"The gods are the wisest and defying the words of the gods will lead the community to disasters and extinction.
What the gods reveals to me seems strange but complying to the words of the gods is the beginning of endless blessings..
In accordance to what was revealed here, 'Ajani Elegbede the son of Adio Elegbede is the chosen man to wear the crown and the one who fits the empty throne,"
Wow!!
Cheers and different opinion from different crowd..
The part of the crowd who are happy with what was revealed by the gods started singing;
"Ajani, omo iya alalubosa di Oba,
Ajani, omo iya alalubosa di Oba,
Ajani, omo iya alalubosa di Oba".
