Its a weekend, every humanly particles of the Biobaku's family are in the hospital as they received the information from the nurse that Mr Biobaku will be discharged from the hospital to continue is total recovery at home.
Its a great news for the family and most especially Ayo who passionately detest visiting the hospital, perhaps, he is scared of getting to see blood or a dying person. Thus, he got no means to remediate this degenerated interest in visiting the hospital because for the past few weeks its been a home for his darling father.Since the demise of Layo, the Biobaku's family seems to see headache as a threat to life.The phobia of losing someone is greatly in their souls, so I quite understand where the hatred Ayo got for hospitals emanated from.
Some occupants of the community made it to the hospital to usher the man who battled the fierceness of death and conquered back to his home..
Ogbeni Alakija who has firmly stood by the side of the family remain undeterred as he readily made his car available to transport the famous conquerer (Mr Biobaku) back to his home.
It was a day filled with unmatched happiness in the heart of the family and most especially the heart of the survivor; Mr Biobaku.
"I remember, the last scene I saw in this house was a young man who triggered a gun at me.I think i died, I was just reborn because after the strike of the gun, all I see was angels waving at me, I saw my dead father and saw Layo too.This moment i believed that its over but how I got to return back to life, only the creator of heaven and earth knows that.However, its a great feeling to be back home. I just have to be honest, I'm still scared." Mr Biobaku narrated.
"My friend, we might understand what you feel but we don't know how you feel cause we have never been in your shoes, we can only imagine.Don't be scared, you're already a conqueror. You should be happy that your kids are doing well and sound, it would have been a different narrative if it was one of your kids that was attacked by the strike of the gun," Ogbeni Alakija emphasized.
Ogbeni Alakija continues;
However, i got some good news.This morning, i branched the police station before coming to the hospital, I met with officer Adamu and he narrated how they got to nab and arrest the young man who shot you. Jay, jale or Jaiye or what do they call his name.
Everyone wowed.
"Yes, its Jaiye!" Ayo acknowledged.
"How did that happened?I thought they said he had fled the town when he realized that his fellow cohort had been arrested and the man he shot survived," Mrs Biobaku stupendously narrated.
"Yes, he does fled the town but due to the professionalism and bravery of the police force, they were able to track him while he was on the cusp of fleeing the country in another town." Ogbeni Alakija acknowledged.
"Wow, the police must have done a great job." Sade emphasized.
"Maybe someday, I'll also be a policewoman so that nobody will shoot my daddy, my mommy, my brother and my sister again," Aduke characteristically said.
Ogbeni Alakija continues;
"So, without much interrogation he confessed and pleaded guilty.The police will be arraigning both of them to court soon. But, to my surprise, the police said no lawyer was ready to stand for them in court, that they will be going to the court without a defendant."
"What a pity," Mr Biobaku said.
"But before they arraign them to court, the police want you to confirm his face and identity.Are you strong enough to visit the police station now?It wont take you much time," Ogbeni Alakija asked.
"Yes, i can," Mr Biobaku replied.
Mr Biobaku, Ogbeni Alakija and Mrs Biobaku all left for the police station as Soyinka and the children of Mr Biobaku remained at home.
"This morning, i saw the man too, the police have thoroughly tortured him, his brows and cheeks are swollen.I pitied him though but what he did to your dad is unfair and I think he gets what he deserved," Soyinka narrated.
"That's true, stealing is not good.I'll rather survive on cassava that to steal what belongs to someone else," Ayo buttressed.
"Well, I hope he meets some mercy and leniency in the face of the judge.The deed has been done and dad did not die, he should be punished but with mercy." Sade said.
"Sister, you are too soft.Someone who almost killed our father, what if father had died, would you still be thinking and craving for mercy?I'm not heartless, I'm just being honest," Aduke emphasized.
"That's true though, you've spoken well," the 13 year old Soyinka said.
The recuperating Mr Biobaku, his wife and Ogbeni Alakija arrived the police station, but Mr Biobaku remained seated in the car as he is yet to regain his total strength to stand whole on his feet.
"Good afternoon officer," Ogbeni Alakija said.
"Good Afternoon sir," Officer Adamu replied.
Ogbeni Alakija continues;
"This is the wife of the victim"
Officer Adamu interrupted; "Yes, I know her. We met before."
"Good!The victim; Mr Biobaku is in the car, he is not strong enough to come down, he just got discharged today.I brought him here because you demanded for it and to facilitate your arraignment preparation." Ogbeni Alakija said.
"Alright sir!Thank you" officer Adamu acknowledged.
"Hey you!"Officer Adamu called the young officer; Officer Pablo.
"Yes sir!"Officer Pablo salutes.
"Bring Jaiye out here," Officer Adamu instructed.
"Yes sir!" Officer Pablo acknowledged.
"I hope he is handcuffed?" Ogbeni Alakija asked.
"Yes, he is" Officer Pablo replied..
"He is the one who shot you right?" Officer Adamu asked the handcuffed robber - Jaiye.
Hmmmm, Mr Biobaku took a deep sigh.
He continues;
"Yes, he is the one who gave me a short trip to heaven with the strike of his gun.On that faithful day where I won at the gamble shop, he was right next to me."
"Why are you covering your face?" Officer Adamu asked the handcuffed man.
Officer Adamu continues;
"Its over sir, you can go get some rest now.We will continue with the rest of the case and inform you on the date of his arraignment in court."
"Thank you officer, thank you for everything you have done." Mrs Biobaku concluded.
