Test Of Leadership

The chants of congratulations is everywhere, the word 'Congratulations' has become a friend to the lips of many in the Holy Boys and Girls school and outside the school.

Its the day were all the appointed school perfect are installed but the eye of the crowd focuses more on the two top appointments; "The Head Boy and the Head Girl."

It wasn't just an undiluted happiness for Ayo but also for Soyinka, Ogbeni Alakija's daughter who was also appointed as the schools Head Girl.

Her appointment was also one which made the school break its tradition of appointing just the immediate students to assume the post at their final year in school. However, Ayo and Soyinka are appointed despite having a studentship year left after the completion of their one year leadership tenure.

The academical credence from Soyinka and her father's financial support to the school stands as a strong determinant to the reasonability behind her appointment.

"Congratulations your Excellency sir and your Excellency ma," sarcastically said by Aduke who apparently will be the most popular girl in school as she is a friend to both Ayo and Soyinka.

"I'm the most popular girl in school, treat me like a queen," the dramatical Aduke said.

After the memorial installment in school with a special emblem on their chest and the list of highlighted duties of Ayo and Soyinka, they both went to their respective homes..

"My son, as much as I know you're very brave and well mannered, I still want you to always remember that power ain't forever. You were not there yesterday, someone else was, today you're there, tomorrow you wont be there, someone else will be, that's how life evolves.

In everything you do always and always remember that fame and power are intoxicating, they can lead you astray, don't let it get into your head. You're not bigger than your mate, you're only opportune to be a bit privileged than they are.

Equally treat everyone, show respect to all. Hence, you can't satisfy everyone cause what you do to Mr A that he got contented with might not be enough for Mr B to get contented with but in everything you do, make sure you do it with the purest conscience. A good conscience makes you accept failure as part of living cause you won't always win and when failure comes, don't give up cause you won't just break down and cry but you will wipe off your tears, brace yourself up and try again.Life isn't dynamic, life is very discursive, treat it the way it comes." Emphasized Mr Biobaku

Thank you father, I can't afford losing you now, I hope you're well recuperating? Said Ayo.

"Yes my son, your father is getting better to play football," Mr Biobaku replied as they all laughed.

Sade who has been lurking and listening to the discussion of a father and son said;

"You and your friend; Ogbeni Alakija are both fathers of the Head Boy and Head girl respectively, isn't that a coincidence father?"

Mr Biobaku continues,

"No one expected it but I'm sure the school has a reason for selecting both of them.

However, I'm a proud father, I've always been a proud father and I will always be a proud father.

I'm blessed with the best of kids, I love you all."

"We love you too dad, "Sade and Ayo chorused.

"I'll be rounding up my exams next week and I'm having Maths on Monday.

Ayo, im finding it hard understanding Geometrics and Simultaneous Equation, I'll need to have tutoring session with you today." Sade said.

"Dear sister, you shouldn't request, you should command, you own me!

Remember, I'm your second father. If I don't take care of you, who will?" Ayo jokingly said.

Ade, who has been a very good friend of Ayo came around to visit him since its a weekend.

"Ade, Ade, my good friend. Its been a while you last visited, I'm sorry I've not been coming around to say hi, I've been just been busy." Ayo said.

"Its fine Ayo, I quite understand. And I heard about your installment in school. Congratulations brother, I've always seen greatness in you, I'm proud of you."

"Thank you, I appreciate you.

You look worried, I hope all is well?" Ayo asked.

"To be honest, all is not well.

Not everyone is happy with your appointment as the Head Boy. In fact, some people are planning a plot against you already." Ade emphasized.

"Plot against me?

What have I done wrong?

And who are these people?" Ayo repeatedly asked.

You know the principals son, Olu? Ade asked.

"Yes, I do. I saw him yesterday and he even congratulated me.

What's happened to him?" Ayo asked.

He is presently planning a plot against you with two of his friends in school. Perhaps, they are envious of your appointment.

I overheard them today while I was working with dad in a building beside your school.

However, I think they came to use the school library.

While working, my Father's leveler fell into the school compound because he was using a ladder. To save him the stress of coming down, I went into the school with the permission of the gate man to pick it up, that was when i heard voices mentioning your name, your name attracted me to eavesdrop to what they are saying, peeping through I realize its Olu, the principals son who is leading the plot.

They planned on stealing some of the principals money and putting it in your locker, so that when the school conducts a search on the locker, they will pronounce you a thief and this will bring disgrace to the school and they will be forced to make you stepdown off the post.

"What have I done to deserve this?Someone I have always laughed with, thinking he is my friend." Ayo exclaimed.

'I'll need to take my leave now, need to return back to work." Ade concluded.

"Thank you so much Ade, you're truly a good friend.I'll know what to do." Ayo also concluded as they both waved goodbye with a hug..

Ayo who seemed unsettled while having a mathematics tutorial session with Sade couldn't focus more as he remained perturbed with the piece of information Ade gave to him.

"Sister, I'm not fine.I want to share something with you..

Sade interrupted,

"You don't need to narrate the story cause I already heard it all.I heard your conversation with Ade, I heard it all..Was holding on to know if you won't share with me." Sade emphasized.

"Don't fret, this is what we will do." Sade said.....
