Its a Sunday, but the sky's dawn is yet to rain, everyone is still sleeping and are yet to wake up with a yawn but Ayo finds sleeping impossible due to a panicking heart.
He keeps thinking knowing that its just a day before Olu and his cohorts actualize their plots against him.
Here, their plots focus its lenses only on Ayo and concerns no one else in the executive team not even Soyinka cause the spot they all are craving for is the one officially owned by Ayo - The Head Boy's throne.
Ayo who had his second sleepless night ever after having an innocent cowering heart filled with fear and degrading thoughts of how the community and his family will look at him if he was found culpable of the allegation purported and plotted by Olu without having any convincing evidence to prove himself innocent. His first sleepless night was when his sister Layo died.
Even though his sister (Sade) had calmed his restless nerves and promised to initiate a workable and achievable plan to repel the inhumane plot against him, still Ayo couldn't contain his fears without finding it hard to sleep.
Ayo who couldn't hold the panic to himself walked down to the bedside of his sister; Sade. He kept making unnoticeable sounds in the efforts of waking his sister from her sleep.
"I know you're here, you don't need to twitch your nose," said Sade.
With a surprised look, Ade responded with a mumbling voice so as not to wake others even though its almost dawn.
"I'm sorry, I just can't sleep.
I keep thinking about it, what if the principal visits the school today? Probably to use the library or do some unofficial things on a Sunday.
What if he walks down to my locker?
What if Olu had already informed him?
My sister, I'm scared!!"
"I know how you feel, but don't be scared, I got a better plan, just return back to your bed and wait for some time till its dawn, I'm sure you don't wanna wake our parents up with the echo of our voice exchange.
Go to bed Ayo, we have always overcome, this, we will also overcome," Sade motivated Ayo with her words.
Ayo peacefully returned to his bed and got reignited by the words of his sister.
Ayo who eventually slept forgets that the sun is raying and that's its morning already...
"Ayo, wake up, wake up, its morning already." Sade said
"Oh!
When did I sleep?"
Ayo rhetorically asked himself.
"Go take your bath, we are going out.
You need to be quick cause I got mathematics exams tomorrow and I need to practice and revise" said Sade.
Few minutes later, Ayo seemed to have taken his fastest bath ever.
"This is our plan...
I already intimated Olu's plot with Soyinka, i told her to meet up with us at the Principals house by 10:00am.
"But how did you get to reach her within the shortest space of time despite you being at home a day?" Ayo confusingly asked.
"Oh, I wrote a note on a paper yesterday and send it to her.
You know her dad came visiting to check on dad yesterday night, so I sent the paper through him to Soyinka and promised not to open it, so take a breath of relieve young man." Sade analytically explained.
"Alright.
But what are we visiting the principals house for?" Ayo asked.
"You know the principal's wife is my big friend, she likes me like a daughter.
So its gonna seem like we are paying her a visit.
Let's go, Soyinka will be waiting already." Sade concluded.
They left home telling Mrs Biobaku that they will be back in an hour.
After some minutes, they arrived at the principal's house where Soyinka has truly been waiting.
"Good Morning ma!" They chorused.
"Oh!
Good Morning my people.
Come in.
How y'all doing?
Having the Head Boy and the Head Girl visiting my house, its a great pleasure.
Take some water to relax yourself." The principal's wife, Mrs Bernard said.
"Thank you ma.
Its so good to see you again.
I'm sorry I've not been coming around, been busy with my exams." Said Sade.
"Its fine, I quite understand.
And I'm glad your dad is well recuperating." Mrs Bernard replied.
She continues;
"But the principal and Olu ain't around, they went to our small farm across the street. I'm sure they're the ones you came to visit."
"Not really ma, we actually came to see you." Sade commented.
"Wow, I'm surprised.
Then I am a lucky woman, having the two excellencies of the most populous 'Trinity Boys and Girls school' visit me with my little friend.
Spew it all out, I'm all ears." Mrs Bernard anxiously said with smiles all over her face.
"Ma, we are here because of your son; Olu. And I'm here because of my brother.
Also, i want you to promise us that you'll keep this a secret between us, I'm sure we can trust you." Sade emphasized.
She continues by narrating all the processes and plottings which has been made by Olu and his cohorts towards smearing, ill painting and blackmailing Ayo in the purpose of making Ayo lose his leadership role so as for Olu to be opportune in taking over. Perhaps, being a son to the principal and a senior to Ayo might be a strong reason for his opportunity.
"But how did you get this expensive information?
How true is this?" Mrs Bernard repeatedly asked.
"Its from a reliable source ma, in fact, Olu knows not that such source already has the information at hand and that the source has interludes his secrecy plots." Sade proclaimed.
"If this is true, i'm so much disappointed in Olu.
Although, he came to meet me spurring out his sour feelings after Ayo was pronounced the Head Boy, perhaps, he had placed his mind on this throne but I relaxed his nerves, cleanse his tears with my words and made him understand that his father loves him and he will never do anything to trample on his right, that if he do worths it, his father would have appointed him instead.
His father being a principal doesn't it mean that will stand as a leverage for him, his personal performance in school will determine if he has a chance.
However, the decision wasn't made just by his dad, its was a collective one made by the school management.
I did all I could to counsel him, I never knew that wasn't enough for him.
This had better not be true, else, it will cause an injury to my heart that will take forever to heal.
I love my son so much but he is just not making me happy." Mrs Bernard concluded.
"Don't cry ma, no matter the outcome you're a good mother and a good mother will always feel bad when their kids do what's not right." Sade said.
"Well, this is what we will do..." Mrs Bernard said.
