"Let's see, let me get this straight" - Kikyo said as she looked at Kurama, who had returned and had a strange scent of lust and unbridled desire - "The girl you met with, she was a Yokai from another culture."
"Demons, but it's basically something similar" - Kurama replied calmly.
"A Yokai of lust like the Kitsune" - Kikyo continued as she ignored the silver haired man's words.
"Yes, though as I said before, the correct term is Lust Demon. Succubus" - Kurama replied calmly - "Let's just say that they started to gain greater power after the ley lines cut off the world's spiritual supply."
"I suppose it's because those lust demons feed directly on humans" - Kikyo mused as she frowned slightly.
"Exactly, though their numbers are still small, and to subsist, they decided it was better to create a new way to gather lust, and that's how the adult movie industry was created, or at least that's what she told me" - replied Kurama as he took his cup of tea and drank it calmly - "Delicious, I'm going to order some more"
"Don't bother, there's still some left in the teapot and I need to ask you a few more things, like if you know the reason for the disappearance of the ley lines" - Kikyo said with a frown.
"The truth is that I'm not sure, although I have a few hypotheses that I can't tell you because it would affect the future of my plans" - Kurama answered seriously - "Leaving that aside, I would like to know how your stay in the future has been."
"Honestly, it's interesting the amount of advances humans have made during all these years although at the same time I feel a bit out of place because in our time, there were only small human settlements and now all around this place are constructions made with... Cement?" - Kikyo said as she frowned as she said the latter, mostly because she wasn't sure what cement was.
"Yes, it's a material that humans created to strengthen their buildings and prevent them from deteriorating so easily" - Kurama answered calmly - "You basically use it to cover wood or bricks to create a solid structure and without fear of wind or liquid leakage."
"Impressive" - Kikyo nodded as she thought about the wonders humans had managed to build after leaving the supernatural side of things.
"Getting back to the point of your stay in the future, I would like to know if you would like to stay indefinitely" - Kurama said seriously.
Kikyo frowned when she heard this because she didn't know how to react to such a strange and random request - "Why?"
"I've been thinking of a way to keep Kagome staying in the past, without risking her life in the future, and my first idea was to create a clone with her image, so I could be in classes, but that would create a lot of awkward situations that I honestly wouldn't like to have, that's why I was wondering if you would like to take her place, so you could also learn from this time and see if you discover what you want after broadening your horizons" - Kurama answered calmly.
Kikyo was silent for a few seconds as she thought about the silver-haired Kitsune's proposal, mostly because she could see the merit in living in this era - "What's the other reason?"
"It's because I don't want to leave loose ends with the matter of Inuyasha, I want him to come to his own conclusion and with you in the past, the threads of fate will make you meet again without us being able to do anything to prevent it, that's why I wish for you to stay in the future, the only place where the threads of fate are weak without the presence of the pearl" - Kurama answered seriously - "After the time is right, you can return to the past if you wish so"
"I see..." - Kikyo murmured before nodding - "I understand, I can agree to your request, as long as Kagome and her family agree to it as well, though I'm going to need to catch up on a lot of knowledge that I'm currently unaware of."
"We can always make the excuse that you lost your memory in an accident, with the way you act so different from Kagome, I wouldn't be surprised if people believe it" - Kurama replied calmly - "That will also give you the excuse to be able to learn things to scratch, starting with reading the language of the future which is a bit different from the writing of the feudal era"
"I see, sounds like a good plan of action" - Kikyo nodded calmly.
"Good, now all that's left is to give this possibility to Kagome and her family, though I don't think they will refuse" - mused Kurama as the two went to the family's dining room where everyone was gathered.
"Huh? You're back already, Kurama-dono?" - Grandfather Higurashi said as he looked at the handsome silver-haired Kitsune.
"Yes, I was having a conversation with Kikyo about our future plan of action, and I wanted to leave on the table a possible solution for the problem that is troubling us at the moment" - said Kurama seriously as he explained his proposal.
Grandfather Higurashi frowned because he honestly didn't like the idea of his granddaughter being in danger, a thought that the mother also had, although they couldn't have the young priestess-in-training stay in the future because that would endanger them all.
Kagome frowned slightly, though she had to admit this wasn't a bad idea, after all, they couldn't call in sick every time she went to the past, never mind that her stay in the feudal era would be getting longer and longer. Having Kikyo take her place in the future would solve the inconvenience of lying so blatantly and make her past life a little more understanding of her situation, besides, she was aware that with Kikyo here, her family would be safe because currently she(Kikyo), was much stronger than her(Kagome).
"What do you guys think?" - Kurama asked as he looked around.
"Honestly, I'm not happy with my baby being in danger for so long, though I'm sure you'll keep her safe, right Kurama-san?" - Kimi asked as she looked at the Kitsune.
"Indeed, I will protect her from the shadows, though I have to tell you again that she will have to face her adventure on her own and I will only intervene if her safety is in danger, or if something horrible should happen" - Kurama replied seriously - "After all, this journey is something she has to do in order to grow up and fulfill her destiny."
Kimi frowned, though she quickly nodded because she could notice the changes her baby had every time she returned. She had stopped being a squealing child and was starting to mature, though honestly this didn't make her happy because from her perspective, Kagome was still a child, and she had no business being mixed up with something as dangerous as the supernatural world.
"Mom, I know you're worried about me, but I have to go back, it's my duty as the person who caused the pearl to be destroyed, I can't just go back and wait for someone to gather the shards and then come after me" - Kagome said with a frown - "That would be putting you in danger, besides, I know nothing bad will happen to me with Kurama-san around, I mean, a scratch or a small wound won't do anything to me."
Kimi let out a sigh before nodding - "Well, if that's what you've decided, I'm going to accept it, although I ask you please don't do anything crazy or that would make Kurama-san have to intervene, I wouldn't bear to see you come back with a broken arm or something like that"
"Don't worry, during my journey I've learned many things, and I'm not as "adventurous" as I used to be, not with all the possible dangers along the way" - Kagome answered seriously.
Grandpa Higurashi smiled slightly because it was obvious that his granddaughter was maturing and growing as a woman - "I just want you to remember one thing, Kagome, no matter what happens in the past, we will always be here for you, so don't hesitate to come back if you feel self-conscious or not knowing what to do."
"Thank you, grandpa, mom" - smiled Kagome as she hugged her family.
Kikyo watched all this in silence, thinking about the past and feeling a little jealous of her reincarnation's life. She had a good family that cared about her and watched out for her safety, while hers was a rather cold one and only cared about keeping up with the holy line of the temple. She had slight recollections of her parents arguing about how they were putting all the weight on her shoulders, that's why despite loving her sister Kaede, she also felt jealous for her, because for the first few years, she wasn't forced to train in the art of exorcism, at least not like they had done with her.
Shippo was also silent as a small smile appeared on his lips.
