The evening had arrived and the Higurashi family was preparing for dinner.
"Kagome, go find Kikyo and Kurama-san" - Kimi said as she finished the dinner preparations.
"Sure" - Kagome nodded as she went through the house in search of the two guests. She quickly found Kurama at the computer, talking to the same woman she had met when they went back in time and now that she got a better look at her, she immediately recognized her as the adult film actress she had seen on the news.
Honestly, she didn't know what to say in this situation, so she quickly told Kurama that it was time for dinner and left because it was a bit awkward to be in front of a woman who was much more experienced than her in that kind of matters.
"She's cute and very innocent" - Hitomi said while shaking her head - "Although I can feel a huge spiritual power inside her, I guess she'll have to be careful so that the Incubus won't go after her."
"Oh, don't worry, if anyone tries anything against her, it will go very wrong" - replied Kurama with a small laugh.
"Protector, huh?" - Hitomi smiled as she batted her eyelashes.
"Oh, don't get me wrong, there's no need for me to act" - Kurama replied as the two conversed for a bit longer before cutting the call, mostly because tomorrow they would meet in person again, after all, he had to give the woman a lot of his essence to make up for the time he had left her alone and unable to reunite it via traditional means.

Kagome continued to search the house for Kikyo, but to no avail, so after some thought, she decided to go outside and check the roof, a place where she found the priestess looking up at the sky.
"What are you doing here?" - Kagome asked as she saw the woman who was her past life.
Kikyo gave her a glance before returning to gazing at the starry sky.
"Why are you ignoring me?" - Kagome asked with a frown as she walked to the priestess and sat down next to her - "Did I do something wrong?"
"No, I'm just not one to talk a lot" - Kikyo replied as she gave her a glance before looking back up at the sky - "I prefer the calm of silence"
"I think we need to work that out because if you're going to take my place, you're going to have to socialize with my friends and some classmates" - Kagome said as she twitched her nose - "Besides, it's not good for you to be alone all the time, it'll make you sick."
Kikyo was silent before sighing - "You have a point, though I still don't feel comfortable talking to unfamiliar people."
"I thought that would be normal for you, I mean, you were a famous priestess, so it's obvious that many people would go looking for you to solve their problems" - Kagome said curiously - "Did you not talk to them?"
"Not really" - answered Kikyo while shaking her head - "I usually just did my job as a priestess and that was all"
"And what did you do for fun or to pass the time?" - Kagome asked with a frown.
"Bow training or meditating to strengthen my spiritual powers" - Kikyo replied neutrally.
"Now that's a boring life, and I was complaining that the classes were horrible" - said Kagome as she shook her head.
Kikyo frowned slightly because she didn't like the look the priestess-in-training was giving her - "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"How?" - Kagome asked in surprise.
"Like you feel sorry for me" - Kikyo replied as she frowned even more.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to look at you that way, I'm just a little surprised that you had such a boring life" - Kagome replied as she scratched her cheek - "I mean, you had no friends to talk to about your problems and all the time you were working, or training, that's not a life I honestly would like to live, even if with all that I would become the strongest priestess in the universe."
"Why?" - Kikyo asked, confused at the girl's expression.
"Because that's not a life, that's slavery" - Kagome answered while frowning - "You're a slave to your job and to the pearl, living alone to fulfill a mission you never chose, but imposed on you, without being able to talk to anyone who could understand you or help you overcome all that ordeal, and what's worse, while being just a girl of my age."
Kikyo's expression darkened as she had no argument to refute these words. Kagome was right, she was a slave to her mission as the priestess of the Shikon Pearl, to the point that she was even taking care of it until after her death.
"Was my life meaningless?" - Kikyo muttered with a frown.
"I'm sorry to tell you, that's the case," Kagome replied as she shook her head, "A life that the person living it has no say in, is not a life that anyone wants to live."
Kikyo was silent when she heard this before sighing with regret because the more she thought about it, the more she found this girl to be right, despite how much she didn't like to admit it.
"Tell me one thing, were you happy in your life?" - Kagome asked seriously.
This question made Kikyo freeze for a few seconds before she started to think as she recalled the past - "No, at least not most of the time."
"Now do you understand what I was trying to tell you?" - Kagome asked with a small smile.
Kikyo nodded weakly before sighing regretfully - "I don't like it though because it makes me feel like my life was a mistake."
"I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to make you feel bad, it's just that even me, a girl who is just starting to understand things a little more, I can see that your life wasn't good" - Kagome replied as she looked at the sky - "That's why I can only tell you one thing, take this opportunity and do things that your old self didn't think she would do, maybe meeting my friends will help you some, or you might even start to have feelings for another boy"
Kikyo was silent before nodding, maybe meeting Kagome's friends, or even other people, will help her get out of her very empty way of life, though at the same time she wasn't too happy with the idea of meeting people of the opposite sex, not when she still had in her memories the time when the only person she was interested in, betrayed her, even when it was quite possible that said person wasn't the real Inuyasha.
"Well, that's all I can tell you, now we better go to dinner because my mother prepared my favorite meal, and if I'm your reincarnation, then we both should have similar tastes" - smiled Kagome as she stood up and extended her hand where the priestess.
Kikyo stared at her for a few seconds before taking it with a small smile on her face - "Thank you."
"You don't have to thank me, it's my pleasure to help you, help me, help us, or whatever" - Kagome said with a small laugh.
Kikyo shook her head as she felt her connection with Kagome, grow slightly.
"By the way, I never thought I would become friends with my past life" - Kagome said as she walked down the staircase that connected the floor to the roof of her home.
"Friend..." - Kikyo murmured as she felt her heart beat slightly at this word - "I see, we are friends..."
"Of course, I mean, we are the same person in different lives, which basically makes us sisters, although I prefer us to be friends" - smiled Kagome as she watched Kikyo come down behind her - "Besides, I'm sure we will experience many things together."
Kikyo nodded weakly as she felt something warm invade her insides, something she hadn't felt in her first life, something she honestly attributed to the fraction of Kagome's soul inside her.
"Are you okay?" - Kagome asked as she noticed how the priestess fell silent.
"Yeah, I was just thinking about something," Kikyo answered honestly.
"In the past?" - Kagome asked with mild interest.
"More like the present and the future" - Kikyo replied as she looked up at the starry sky - "Honestly, now I'm a little curious as to what this era can offer me, so I can find what I desire."
"I'm sure you'll find it, after all, I have confidence in myself" - Kagome smiled as she laughed lightly.
Kikyo found this slightly amusing, though she didn't smile, mostly because she still wasn't very comfortable showing her emotions, even with herself.
"Anyway, I guess from tomorrow I'll teach you as much as I can, though honestly I'm not the most diligent girl in my class" - Kagome said with slight embarrassment because she had to make a masterful effort in order to pass some exams.
