Chapter 63: Suspicion

[Vicente's POV]

"So where do we have to go and how do we return the soul to a place where someone can't steal it again." George asked.

"Well I have a vault for such souls that I keep from people who desire to steal from me. This has happened many times for different reasons. Mortals thinking they could bring their dead family members or friends simply by getting their soul out of my domain. Their souls would have nowhere to go and would simply go wherever the soul path leads. I, myself don't even know where that goes. Their souls would have no body to dwell in. You just put it in this jar and bring it here." Lucifer snapped his fingers before taking us towards a random place

"You may have reached godhood, but by definition are still mortal. Therefore, I am only allowed to help you a bit. I have things to take care of anyways and wouldn't help you all that much. Follow this map and you'll be able to find your sister's soul." This seems a bit strange that this map leads to my sister's soul and that he knows how to get her back, but didn't. This seems strange, but I'll go along with it for now and inform everybody about my suspicions. From the looks of it, George has some of the same suspicions. Most likely, everybody noticed Lucifer's strange behavior and ate just better at hiding it. We followed the map for about 20 minutes before encountering a dragon.

'Use Assimilation on that thing and focus on the sword! I wanna get even stronger!'

'I'm not sure that I can, but I'll try. Give me a small boost.'

I ran towards the dragon only to pass right through it with no problems. Everybody did the same thing, but soon the dragon swatted me away with a flick of its tail.

'HAHAHHA he made you seem like a little bitch!'

'Balance yourself out before I sock you in the snout.' A grey light appeared inside my mind and the Dragon of True Balance came.

'I'm back, now we have to finish this one off.'

'Let's do this partner' "Use skill: Assimilation x100." I touched the dragon while it was trying to phase again. It was fully assimilated and I got a great power-up and a few skills.

     'Uhhh, are you still here?'

     'I -- Am -- The -- Yin-Yang Dragon!'

'I feel the difference, but we'll need to practice strengthening the link between us.'

"You bastard!" George grabbed my collar with tears, "What did I do?"

"You keep trying to pull ahead by doing anything you can think of! Next one is mine!" Jeez I didn't know he would react like this.

"I just did what Dragon of True Balance wanted me to do!" I brought my fist out since he had his ready to punch me, but soon we were both hit with a spell. Shiro smirked at us before I slipped straight through the ground.

      'What the fuck!'

'It's the skill you got from the dragon. Let's you phase through objects and spells. It does require a lot of concentration and mana, but I can take care of that. I was just showcasing the ability. You'll shoot up if I turn it off right now. 3….2...1...0'

Why couldn't he warn me of this happening in a better way? I shot straight into the air and landed right next to George.

"Like my new skill? It lets me phase through things." I gave George a cocky smirk before looking back at the map. We would need another 2 days to reach where we were going, but I guess beggars can't be choosers. We trekked a long way from where we first appeared and set up camp with what we had.

"Well time to rest for now before heading out again in the morning. I'll be on the lookout and we'll change shifts later." I stayed awake until my time was over and woke up George. That was pretty boring of a lookout.

"Wake up!" Was the next thing I heard.
