After the Eizen example, the other Elite Ten started to play smart. Nene Kinokuni of 6th seat was the next and she almost failed but won in the end.
Sōmei Saitō of 5th seat also almost failed but because of his consideration for customers and the meticulous preparation he did, Lou passed him.
On the other hand, Rindō Kobayashi has the worst and most dangerous test of all of them, having special ingredients that she had never tried before.
A Deep Sea Fish.
Rindō also excited seeing a new ingredients she can use, after all her cooking style is base on exotic animals
Exotic Ingredients
Rindō is a specialist in handling exotic ingredients. Though she had great knowledge of the unusual ingredients Japan has to offer, she used her power as an Elite Ten Council member to travel the globe from the Arctic to the Amazon in her quest to find and use the most unusual ingredients for her cooking.
One such ingredient was used in her very first duel shown in the series where she used a live alligator for the foundation for her dish.
Rindō is both knowledgeable and flexible with her choice of cuisine, effortlessly applying her rare ingredients to Chinese, Peruvian and French dishes.
Of course, she is also well experienced in handling different kinds of ingredients. She mastered different kinds of knife techniques just for her cooking style.
Rindō has shown extreme dexterity and precision using a wide plethora of knives within a short period of time.
But this time it's different, the Deep Sea Fish is hard to cook because of certain conditions of the fish.
Finding a way to prepare eerie fish who reside in the deep depths of the sea, where not even sunlight can reach, is hard to do.
The most important is that they don't know if the Deep Sea Fish is edible or not.
This is not just a test of cooking ability, this is also a test of your ability to find a way to cook something that has never been seen before.
Rindō uses her knife skill to cut the fish into thin slices, vividly blooming on the top of the colander-like flower.
With her knife skill, she shows a different face of that gruesome fist that impresses everyone.
It's sashimi, but the problem is she doesn't even know if the fish is safe to eat or not so she chooses to use boiled soup to at least semi cook it but something terrible happens.
"So you choose to Parboil it to reduce the fat and increase the flavor?" Lou asked.
"Your smart boya~" Rindō said.
"Continue."
Rindō grab the hand of the pan and slowly pour the boiling soup, then when the steam goes out, something magical happens.
".....!"
"The fish disappeared?!"
"Huuh?!"
"Why?"
"What's happening?"
Not only Rindō but also everyone watching was confused. They even tried to check if someone was trying to sabotage the test but they did not see anything at all.
"It seems you forgot something,"
"No I did not!" Rindō said,
"Yes you are, i will ask you, what are you in this school?"
"I'm an Elite-...." Rindō suddenly stops, a simple thought suddenly comes out inside of her head.
"It seems you understand now."
Lou then look at the blond Oldman next to him," Teacher Chapelle, can you explain to Student Rindō what kind of fish she trying to cook right now."
Roland Chapelle, one of the lecturers in Tōtsuki Culinary Academy and the chief of its French Cuisine Division.
Roland is an old gentleman with a stern face, piercing blue eyes, and swept-back blonde hair. He generally is seen in a standard white chef's uniform with a red neckerchief.
"Its MIizuuo, that's the name of the fish, like the fish's name, when you heat it, the meat melts and disappears."
"B-But.... I never knew that." Rindō said.
Not only her but also everyone only learns the fish name.
"It seems you forgot it again, as a student, your job is to learn knowledge from the teacher, but you guys seem to forget it and do everything you want and forgot to even attend the morning class."
"Actually, you guys should learn it in your first semester but you are all busy with your own job so you guys never learn some important thing." Chapelle helplessly said.
"T-Then… what should i do?" Rindō now is having a huge problem preparing something that she never prepared before.
It seems she is the second one who will fail the test.
"Think, think carefully, observe and dont feel down for one mistake, you're smart enough to find a way for this problem and-."
"And?"
"And you only have 45 minutes left."
"Oh no!!"
After doing something stupid thing as bothering Lou, she finally found a clue to her problem and then give her answer to everyone.
Lou looks at the dish and asks, "Why?"
"Actually, after carefully thinking, I feel that the real flavor of the fish comes to its bone that did not melt, so I think it is to make the dissolved flesh into the soup while leaving Bone as the main ingredient."
"Just like I said you're smart, and the gamble you made pays off, that right, the Water Fish's true flavor comes from its bone, this is the essence of the fish."
