The Hunter Code

At the same time, that Alexander and Allison were fully enjoying their car ride together. Chris, Allison's father was arriving to an oddly familiar warehouse, thought bit obviously seen better days.

[Chris Argent POV]

Driving up to their warehouse/headquarters Chris couldn't help but clench his jaw. In order to not loose his temper and furiously shout at the guards for their incompetence.

' I almost didn't come, not after that encounter this morning, fortunately I did. For them to be so daring as to launch a surprise attack on our headquarters, means things are starting to escalate.'

Stepping out of his SUV, Chris made his way to the guards waiting outside. To which he loudly ordered to give him a full report of what went down.

" What's the hell happened, tell me everything."

Not made to wait for long, one of the guards stepped out and gave Chris a detailed report.

" Sir, around midnight, we heard something, those on the rooftop went to check but didn't find anything. Then Blake said he had to go to the restroom, a few minutes later the fire alarm went off. We all rushed inside but the fire had consumed most of the offices and part of the storage room. Once we managed to put out the fire, we..we..."

Listening to the report, Chris's mood constantly grew worse until the man's stutter set him off.

" Spit it out, what else did you find?!"

" After putting out the fire, we began rummaging through the rumble and found a charred corpse. We believe it's Blake's, it seems he got trapped inside the restroom and..."

" Where's the body?"

Chris cut him off, instead wanting to the corpse, the guard nodded and pointed to a white sheet laying on the ground.

" Over there, Sir."

Without saying another word, Chris walked over and pulled the sheet. Revealing a blackened corpse with absolutely no discernable features. Being honest with himself, Chris wasn't sure whether or not that was his comrade, but then he saw the gold necklace around his neck.

' Dammit, Blake, how many times did I tell you not to drop your guard. But you'd never listen, you were always a confident son if bitch. Well not anymore... Goodbye old friend."

Recognizing the necklace, Chris crouched down and took a moment to collect himself.

" Sir, there's something else you should know..."

A separate guard, nervously voiced, obviously scared of Chris. Who stayed quiet, only lifting his right arm and waving his index finger indicating him to talk.

" According to our initial findings, we think the fire started in your office. Unfortunately the fire ravaged it entirely and we couldn't recover anything."

Utter silence again permeated throughout the surrounding area, until a very much composed Chris stood up.

" Have you already moved the usable inventory out of the storage room?"

" Yes sir, we load it up into the trailer."

" Good, get it all out of here, this place has become compromised. We'll move somewhere else, until then keep that trailer out of sight."

" Sir, what about this place? What will happen to it?"

Chris didn't answer the guard, instead asked him for a light.

" Does anyone have a lighter?"

One of the confused guards nodded and took one out before throwing it to him. Catching it, Chris, lit the lighter, stared at it's flickering flame for a moment, before casually throwing it towards the buildings scorched remains. The thrown lighter reignited the fire and started devouring what little of the property remained unburnt.

'We hunt those who hunt us.'

" Alright, so what brought you here? I doubt Beacon Hills is big on romance novels."

A much more relaxed Allison asked Alexander who made sure to maintain his eyes in the road. Although did turn towards her for a moment right before answering.

" For your information, one of my books was recently picked up to become a movie."

While Allison was surprised by "Xander's" admittance but wouldn't let him know that.

" So what, you came here to retire after selling the rights to your book?"

" What no, I was tasked with adapting it into a screenplay, but with all sorts of distractions in Los Angeles. I decided it'd be more productive to work in a small town, away from such things."

" Oh, like what exactly?"

" Certain things a highschool student shouldn't know about."

" Seriously? And how old are you exactly you don't look that much older me in. The first we met, I actually thought we were the same age."

" What could've given you that idea? I already graduated highschool."

" Yeah, so tell me, how old are you?"

" Eighteen."

He proudly proclaimed, sticking out his chest and raising his head. Only to then hear loud giggling coming from his right side.

" Tehehehe, so you're only a year older than me? I honestly thought you'd be older than that, like in your early twenties."

" Yeah, I get that alot. Since I was kid really, people would always assume I was older than I was. Do you think it's my haircut or something?"

" No, you just have this air about you. It's, how do I explain it, you're really confident in yourself."

" And that makes me old, how exactly?"

" It doesn't make you old, it makes you mature. Because unlike most people our age, you know what you want. Which is good, so don't worry about it, be yourself, be confident."

" Is that so, hey you're really good at this. Have you ever thought about writing self help books? I could put in a good word for you with my publisher, if you'd like."

Alexander's sarcastic remark brought a small pout to Allison's face which he enjoyed. It was a small win, and a very brief one as she remarked.

" I might take you up on that offer, seeing as their standards don't seem all that high."

Following that statement Alexander gave up and changed the conversation towards her.

" I've already told you about my life, so what about you, how long have you lived in Beacon Hills?"

" Coincidentally, we moved her about a week ago, so this place as new to you as it is to me."

" And, do you like it here? Or would you have rather remained where you used to live."

" Beacon Hills, is quiet and peaceful which I like, but I don't really get attach to any place, not anymore."

" Why's that? If you don't mind me asking, of course."

" My father, his job takes him all around the country. In order to be together, both my mother and I move around with him. Soon the moving became constant, and I never had a chance to grow accustomed to a city or town."

As she answered Allison's face darkened and her expression turned sour. Creating an opportunity which Alexander could take advantage of.

" Do you know why at the age of eighteen I live alone? It's because I don't want to be tied down by anyone. Don't get me wrong I'm eternally grateful to my parents, but I'm also my own person. I have my own desires and dreams, and I won't let anyone get in the way of that. What I'm trying to say is, it's your life, live it however you want, not how anyone else tells you to."

After that exchange the car ride became real quiet, with neither one of them saying anything for a long while. Alexander was focused entirely on driving, while Allison was in deep thought.
