Sixteen

"Well do you want to be my girlfriend?"

"Remy" I slap his arm as he starts giggling.

"Okay but for real though, let's go to the hang out"

" Fine."

We started walking to the hang out as they call it. Remy had his arm around my shoulders. He walked up to Justin, doing that side hug thing guys do. Justin raises his hand to signify that he knows I'm there.

Some of the girls there sitting suddenly stand up and hug me. They're the more athletic friends I have. I smile as I have my little chats with each of them. I feel the stares of the seniors that hang out there. Nina and her friends are looking at me up and down giggling to themselves.

I tug on Remy's arm feeling uncomfortable and wanting to leave. He shakes his head no while smiling at me. He takes me to a private corner of the hang out.

" what's wrong Lana" he asks caressing the back of my hand with the pad of his thumb"

" I stand out like a sore thumb here" I sigh out

"Oh...who cares what they say Lana were just friends hanging out"

"Okay look we know we are just friends, but because of what you posted on Friday, all these girls have been taking guesses left and right about what happened between you and Nina. Somehow I ended up in the middle of the problem, and some people think I'm the problem."

"Nina could do whatever she pleases, I'm not over her but I'm pissed, I wanted to hurt her with that post on Friday that's why I wrote that, also did you see all the thirst comments for you."

" Okay first off, I understand you are hurt but I feel weird in the middle of this break up. Second I did see the comments, some of the guys were fine with and capital "F." I literally got over 100+ followers that day, and it's still going"

We broke out laughing with each other, till both my face and sides hurt. I look up to see everyone at the hangout looking at us in amusement. I smiled and hide my face in Remy's shoulder feeling embarrassed.

The bell rang and Remy and I were heading in the same directions so he wanted to walk me to class. When he walked me to class he gave me a hug and a peck on my forehead. I smile and send on his way to class.

"Are you guys dating, Maxi don't lie to me?" Both Karma and Kholè appear from behind me.

" holy Buddha, You scared me. No, we aren't dating."

" Okay so then answer me this question, do friends kiss each other." Kholè asks her inappropriate question

" Karma control your twin please"

Khole and Karma attack me. We all start laughing and head to our classes. Kholè and I have the same class while Karma has study hall this period.

We ended up with a substitute and we had a free period and worked on whatever, we had permission to use our phones in class.

" Hey Kholè are you serious about the captain position next year."

" well yeah its my last year and I want to make it count and at least try out for captain."

" so you don't mind if I try out again this year."

" To be honest Maxi, I'll be pretty mad if you get captain agin for the 3rd year in a row."

" I really want this position Kholè, I know it's selfish to want to be captain again, but that's what I'm good at."

" I get that Maxi, but I've wanted captain since sophomore year, I've always have been second in command, and I think I want to try for a higher position this year."

"I get it its fun being in charge and it's good to be apart of such a cool team, and accepting awards is always fun."

I stayed quite after that last comment. I can see in Kholè face she was irritated. I knew this was very important to Kholè, but yet I still went for the position.

I've been the right hand man ever since all the seniors left and I was the one in charge. I've been serious about color guard since freshman year. When I comes to performances I've always put that first.

I really don't want to lose Kholè. If she gets the position I'll be sad, but I won't have a vendetta against her though.

As the day goes on I make my way to my fifth period class walking into class with Lillian. Remy come from behind me pulling my hoodie over my head. Hugging me from behind. I laugh and turn around in his grasp,facing him.

" Hey there" Remy smiles

"Hi" I shyly reply

"Okay class stand in the back of the class, we're getting a new seating chart"

She points to me and Remy to sit down in the seat in front of her desk. I high five Remy as we head over to our seats.

It was a free period since the experiment we were supposed to work on in class went wrong on the way to school. Remy and I were taking pictures and goofing around. All these pictures getting taken were on his phone.

I lay my head on his shoulder. I'm so tired, last night was so crazy honestly. I wish I had more time to sleep. I close my eyes, and the next minute I heard mumbling and murmurs as flashes and clicking sounds go off.

I open my eyes to find the teacher gone and Remy laying his head on my head and his arms wrapped around me. I shake him to wake up, he stretches and smiles at me.

I asked my classmates if I could see the picture. It was the cutest picture I've ever seen in my life. We both look so tired and happy at the same time.
