Risk

The scene is like knights fighting in a ring as huge fifteen feet metal constructs trade blows under the heat of the afternoon. The spectators were entertained in the show of skills by both pilots representing their countries. Carlo the Verlusian despite being an underdog fought with the best of his abilities.

Carlo wondered what his opponent is thinking for he is only trading blows and did not plan his approach. He may have underestimating him or testing his capabilities. He tried to see him but the Atlantican is a prudent one, and is trying to keep his energy and movements.

Carlo retreated his mecha unit and observed his next move. He did not move and maintained his stance, distance and place. Colin, the Atlantican pilot is waiting and probably wanted to lure him into a trap.

"This guy is good!" Carlo decided to move his mecha and encircle Colin.

Carlo am looking for a weakness and an opening. The bare fist of his mecha suit lights up with electric charge as he taunt his opponent to attack. He used his mecha to rush towards his opponent's position then attempted to throw a fist.

"I missed!?" Carlo was surprised as his opponent sidestepped then strikes his mecha unit.

A loud clang was heard as a kick from Carlo's opponent's unit hit the side of his unit. Inside he could feel the shock that thrown his unit several meters away. Despite being hit hard he was able to make his mecha keep up its balance.

Carlo's opponent tried to take advantage of the situation and rushed in towards him. He, however with his faster reflexes and coordination with his mecha unit, evaded Colin's attack and jumped back. As the feet of Carlo's unit lands on the ground dust rises up in the air.

The attack may be counted but Carlo thinks only half point since it is not a simulated lethal point. Only when his opponent has hit him with a shock it will be a full point. The score has been posted on the dashboard of his cockpit. Half point as he have predicted.

The referee calls the fight off and decides for a break. Both contenders retreated their mecha units to the corner where it was assessed of damage and for maintenance. Carlo's friend Robin approached him after damage assessment and scolded him.

"What do you think you're doing!?" He shouted as he reprimanded Carlo.

"Sometimes we take risks to win..." Carlo tried to prove his actions but was interrupted.

"If not for my adjustments that blow would be fatal!" Robin said and continued, "Look, don't do any risky maneuvers like that. It may cost your life! Rather, this is just an exercise and simulation. Do not try to risk yourself just to win."

Carlo sensed Robin's concern for his safety but he assured him that he will be fine. Carlo returned to his unit after five minutes of maintenance and went in to the cockpit. Everything looks fine but a glitch that seems to be an effect of the damage earlier.

Carlo can only try one move to win! He will shock him though literally with this metallic fists. That Atlantican will see the ability of this Verlusian in his mecha suit. He once activated the electricity on his mecha's fists and rushed in for a feint.

Carlo's opponent who thought that I would fall for the same trap countered in thinking that it would be an easy win for him. The Atlantican was wrong, Carlo jumped back then made his mecha lunge for a thrust then pushed forward.

Carlo's attack landed after the premature counter in response to his feint. "Eat this fifty volts worth of pain!" Carlo shouted in his cockpit and saw a bright light that hit in the upper part of his opponent's unit torso. His opponent's unit suddenly stopped moving and one point was displayed in his dashboard which means Carlo is ahead of 0.5 points against him.

After the short pause, the fight resumes and Carlo's opponent resumes his unit's stance and faced him. This time he is not pulling any punches and comes at him furiously. Carlo dodged his attacks and evaded his maneuvers. His opponent is trying to corner him as Carlo tried to use his speed to his advantage.

The thundering sound of metal clashing and machine gears roaring sounded as Carlo attempted to deflect his opponent's attacks. The Atlantican pilot is no means a dead weight, he is in fact a serious foe to be underestimated. Despite of the gap of the capabilities of their mecha units he was able to close it with his wits and strategy.

Colin in his cockpit, recently shocked by 50 volts worth of simulated damage smiles with excitement. He never thought that he would fight an opponent legendary as Carlo, he thought he was.

Carlo was measuring his abilities, for every strike he deliver he defend and evade. His opponent's movement as Carlo noticed were calculated as well. He does not wastefully use his agility to strike and return attacks as he want.

The fight is going on for at least fifteen minutes. Carlo still got ten minutes to finish the match. Only one point left and same as his. He must be aggressive now if he wanted to win this.

Carlo shifted his mecha to a more aggressive stance then sprinted. Once again his opponent sent blows after blows of attack to his mecha which he evaded. He almost gone close but a strike almost hit him and made his mecha jump back.

If that strike to the head of Carlo's mecha was successful he would not only be in a world of pain but also lost. Good thing his reflexes had saved the day for him. He again made his Mecha unit move circles around the Atlantican and measured the distance and his approach.

"Damn, this guy is good!" Carlo commented.

Carlo see no weakness in his opponent's style and strategy, he might as well loose this battle to finish it. Carlo sighed and looked once again at his opponent through the screen in his cockpit.

Carlo continued to encircle his opponent until his movement ceased. It seems like the Atlantican is inviting him and attacking may be too risky. Carlo realized that he is making this drag in too longer.

"If this gamble pays off, then sure it would. If not, lesson learned!" Carlo said in his mind and analyzed an angle of attack.

A sudden swift rush was not expected by the spectators as Carlo made his last and desperate move to win. He moved on so swiftly that he thought he may overcome his opponent's defenses.

All of a sudden, his enemy's mecha suddenly faced him then countered with a strike to his mecha's head. It was like a loud thud then a bang inside Carlo's cockpit. The display was shut down and his mecha was stopped.

"I cannot believe it is over!?" Carlo resigned to his defeat.
