Chapter :-5 Spirit Hunting (Part-1)

"Not a day has passed yet here I am, surrounded by troublesome matters. I just hope that the mage, the council invited would be able to seal that godforsaken spirit and maybe even take down the monster inside my castle."

Caroline walked towards the library where Henrik was currently at, she had to know the reason why he has been cooped up in that room for 5 hrs now.

Henrik did inform her that he needed to read about the current world to figure out how much time had passed since he and his family were sealed away, sleeping. But she couldn't help and feel that there was something else that she was missing.

"Greetings Duchess..." the guards bowed to pay respect to the owner of the castle and the ruler of the territory. Behind the rows of guards was a giant door that leads to the biggest room in the castle, the Library.

The crest of the ruler, a mystical beast known as Griffin was imprinted on the center of the giant door.

Caroline waved her hand, signaling the guards to push open the door so she could enter and take a look inside to see just what exactly was Henrik doing for the past 5 hrs.

ᒥ....Creak….ᒧ

The huge doors were pushed open by armor-clad soldiers who guarded the different parts of the castle. Caroline elegantly walked inside the Library and looked around, hoping to find the little devil.

She walked left and entered deep inside the history section, two guards accompanied her inside following behind her.

"What in the world…!!"

"Who are you….?!"

Henrik looked towards the source of the sound which disturbed his study. Caroline together with two faithful guards entered the Library, she wore a purple dress with light armor which protected her vitals from any physical harm.

Caroline had a stunned expression on her face, the seemingly 12-years old child with bluish eyes was levitating high above the ground. His left hand held a book while the other turned the pages.

He had a serious expression on his face which was broken after he suddenly looked towards her direction. She knew that Henrik was indeed not a normal person as not even the most talented mages could fly.

She had to reevaluate her approach towards this demon….or whatever he was. Her guards following behind her were shocked beyond limits yet they quickly recovered and raised their spears towards the flying child.

Seeing this Henrik raised an eyebrow before asking Caroline with a smirk on his face.

"Do your men raise their weapon against children, It looks like the world is indeed a horrifying place..."

Caroline rolled her eyes before retorting back while also signaling her guards to lower their weapons.

"You are no child and neither are my guards' fools….."

Henrik raised his hand and pointed his right-hand towards the guards. A strange force suddenly covered the guards as drowsiness overcame their minds and they dropped down on the ground.

"Looks like you even force your men to work overtime, look how tired they were….to suddenly collapse on the ground and sleep. Tsk...Tsk...Tsk.."

Caroline immediately turned around and knelt, she checked their pulse before turning her head back, glaring towards the blue-eyed child who had already returned to the ground and had been standing in front of her face when she turned back to look at him.

"Ahhh..."

"What..? I don't think that I am scary, on the contrary, I consider myself to be quite charming…"

"What did you do to them…?"

"Nothing….just put them into temporary sleep after I made sure to erase their memories about what had conspired in this Library. You and I have a lot to discuss, beginning with the spirit of 9-tails fox and how I can help you, in sealing it forever."

"You were eavesdropping on my conversation with the ministers…!!!"

"You don't think I would believe someone I just meet some time ago? I had to make sure that my family and I am safe here. You didn't disappoint me and kept quiet about me at the meeting which was a smart choice. After all, I would hate to kill Albus and everyone else in this castle."

"You….!!!!!"

"Well, that is all in the past…."

"I have heard that it is quite dangerous for those who try to cross the Basilk river, their dead bodies scattered all over the place. The riverside graveyard filled with vengeful souls who are tormented by that fox….I can help."

Henrik walked deeper inside the Library while Caroline followed behind her keeping her eyes on the child-like demon. A thoughtful expression on her face as she pondered over the matter, it was true that a mage had been invited to deal with the spirit but there was no guarantee that he would succeed in his job.

She was angry about being threatened with her child's life yet her anger didn't cloud her judgment. She had to consider the safety of her subjects first.

Caroline was no stranger to Henrik's power, though she knew nothing about him. She believed that Henrik was strong enough to deal with the spirit which has been killing so many people.

"What's the catch, surely you wouldn't do all of this for free or out of the kindness of your heart if you have one ?"

"Help me find some ingredients and herbs also grant me your trust, I will help you out in some matters. All you have to do is keep others away from my way and don't betray me."

"So what do you say? I will help that Mage in sealing the fox but after that, you must hold up your end of the bargain."

"For how many years will you require my help? Also if the cost of the herbs is too much you would have to pay for them."

"Well at least for 10 years and also you don't need to buy me the herbs just tell me the location or source, that would be sufficient."

"Very well, I Caroline Pine swear on my child's life that I will help you in your task if you promise to seal the fox and provide help in the future."

"You have my word, Duchess Caroline..."
