Chapter :-6 Spirit Hunting (Part-2)

"Everyone pack up your things we will be leaving for the bridge in 15 minutes...!"

The smell of gunpowder and metal was addictive, the knights wore silver armors and held long-barreled guns in their hands. The symbol of Griffin embedded on the back of their armor.

They numbered in about 100 soldiers with priests protecting the council members and the duchess. Against spirit, no amount of weapon was useful but to prevent the bandits from roofing them on the way, they brought a small but well-trained squad to protect them.

The knight surrounded the carriages and marched forward, void of any fear. Inside one of the carriages sat Caroline along with her son, Albus. As the future Duke, he was required to see and learn from these situations and grow to become a capable leader.

Caroline requested Henrik to make some kind of protection charm so that if things got out of hand and the mage couldn't seal the spirit, they could still be able to retreat.

"If the spirit is as powerful as you say then you must keep your distance. This bracelet will not allow the spirit to manifest near you or little Albus but if you are too close then there are chances that you will be in danger."

"If things went out of control then I would intervene and seal the fox myself but if the mage you invited can seal the fox then ask him to bury it somewhere away from this region."

"Are you sure we will be safe...? I don't want any harm to befall my son..."

"Don't worry Duchess, as long as you follow my instructions then nothing will happen to both of you."

"Take these two bracelets, each person may only wear one...Keep them on you all the time."

"Henrik will you save me if I am in danger.....?"

"Of course Little Albus, you gave me a place to live in peace so I ought to repay you and your mother."

"Count Sefal are you sure that the mage will arrive on time....?"

"Don't worry about him Duchess Caroline, he will be there to do what is asked from him. With his help, we will finally be able to get rid of this spirit."

"I pray that your words become the reality..."

The carriage moved forward along with the small squad of knights. Along the way, they didn't face any bandit attacks or assassination attempts, just a mile distance from the Riverside.

"Halt..!!"

A man wearing loose clothes with a bamboo hat was sitting beneath a huge tree, around him sat birds, butterflies, and sparrows. The atmosphere around him was calm and gave off the feeling of harmony.

"Abe Yasunari of the South I presume???."

The man in question removed his bamboo hat and placed it beside him before getting up to greet the nobles. He bowed a little as he spoke in a calm tone.

"I am indeed Abe Yasunari, you must be Count Sefal....."

"You got the right man...."

"Very well then, we should take care of this spirit as quickly as possible. A spirit is at its strongest after sunset."

"Then we should hurry, in about 3 or 4 hrs the sun will set and it will be dark...."

"Please come inside one of our carriages...."

"Very well...."

He walked towards Count Sefal's carriage and sat inside. He wore red robes with a crescent moon etched on the back. He had sharp eyes and dark skin along with a blunt nose.

"Forward....!"

ᒥ....After sometime....ᒧ

"Th...This place...."

In front of them were many corpse, rotting corpse as far as the naked eye could see. Even the knights who had seen many gruesome sites were scarred to see so many dead bodies in one place.

Caroline looked devastated by the scene in front of her, she placed her hand over Albus's eyes. Her eyes watered but she held on, these corpses were once her people. All of them had a family and people who would wait for their return, every day.

What would she tell her people, everyone who could be saved, died while she was far away from the dukedom and enjoying her vacation? She couldn't face the guilt that was gripping her heart.

ᒥ....Don't blame yourself it isn't your fault, even if you were here and knew about the situation there was nothing you could have done to save them. When a spirit feeds, normal people can't survive....ᒧ

A calm and indifferent voice entered her mind.

ᒥ....At the Castle....ᒧ

Henrik was at the castle, inside the guestroom. His blue eyes were hidden behind the hood that he wore. A big 'M' was drawn of the back of his cloak. His right palm held a burned paper wood while he channeled his energy inside it.

In front of him was a triangle made from white chalk and flowers. Henrik was using the Expression Triangle spell after modifying it a little bit.

[Expression Triangle Linking Spell]

A non-verbal spell that uses Expression to charge and link three sacrificial hotspots. With all three hotspots linked, a spell can be used to drop the Veil as the caster sees fit, such as inside the Expression Triangle.

But Henrik modified the spell to gather all that power from the sacrifice and make indestructible objects. He wanted to use this chance to create 6 pendants for his family.

The power of sacrifice is the strongest source of magic power using all this power would allow Henrik to create protection charms so strong that not even thousands of witches could break the barrier.

This was his gift for his family when they would wake up. Initially, he planned to create 5 pendants, one for Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, Freya and himself but the magic power released from so many deaths was even more than he expected so he decided to create another charm just for the sake of making it.

The spell initially requires 3 different sacrificial sites before linking the spots to create a zone where the caster can do wonders. After a little reverse engineering, Henrik was able to remove this requirement and just channel the power to create indestructible objects.

It was indeed a sad thing that so many people died but this wasn't Henrik's problem to worry about. He only cared for his family and his benefits.

He needed Caroline's trust so he could stay and gather resources thus he promised to help seal the goddamn spirit if the need for his help should arise.

"Mekaso hai Mekaso hai Mekaso hai...."

The incantations reverberated throughout the place. A silver-colored substance covered 6-ordinary looking pendants inside the Triangle and glowed with a mysterious light.

ᒥ....Back at the Riverside....ᒧ

Abe Yasunari frowned while a serious expression appeared on his face, he could feel it. Unknown magic was devouring all the death magic around here.

Generally, after the death of a person, a little death magic is released which then again mixes with the world and turns into magic but here someone was able to channel the death magic.

This discovery not only surprised him but also scared him. The death magic was stronger than the magic that everyone used, if someone could successfully channel all this death magic then only god knows what would happen.

While he knew that something was happening, he couldn't interfere with it at all. The magic in question was unknown magic which he couldn't understand no matter how hard he tried. So he let it be and focused on the current situation of the dukedom.

It was time for him to combat a spirit and seal it away forever.
