Ash Wrought By Light part 1

Mathias stood there observing Julius' immediate reaction to smelling the smoke from the burning manor. A manor, which wasn't supposed to be burning so early into their mission to exterminate the house. They were supposed to burn the remains within the building itself. Wondering himself who it was that caused the fire the only person his mind went to was Ramses. But he wouldn't jeopardize this mission would he?

"You crazy fuckers burned down their home?!" Julius roared enraged his voice full of anger and worry. It caught him off guard. He hadn't expected the vampire to care about another family to such an extent that it would endanger his own life. Maybe it was part of the entire reason that he had was here. How did they not notice him arriving?

Watching as Julius raised his blade licking the blood off of the edge of it as the healing factor began to kick in Mathias began to realize how much of a disadvantage he actually was at. For he had realized the one mistake he had made when he came to take out this vampiric house. He forgot to inject holy water into his blood.

Steam began to slowly rise off of his body as his injuries began to heal to the point they weren't encumbering him in anyway. Not good at all. Mathias thought as he steadied himself with his stance. He knew he was in for one challenging fight the moment the smoke reached them. Why couldn't he have just hurried up and brought Julius down? Smart move wanting to draw out the fight for some entertainment. He thought as he stared Julius down. Who had through some way gotten through his defense landing a kick to his chest sending Mathias through one of the hedges of the maze and sending him through to the other side.

Landing on his back he felt all of the air leave his lungs as he groaned silently in pain. Vampires on blood was a whole different beast. That is why he usually tried to hunt them while they were looking for a source of blood or after they hadn't fed in a long while. Slowly sitting up Mathias looked around before staring at the burning building again. He worried for his men who had been sent around the building, and for Ramses. Even if the the fire was his fault.

Standing up after taking a moment to breathe in some smoke filled air annoyance began to flow through his mind as he slowly walked closer obscured by the brush that surrounded the hedge. "We have done a lot more than that Julius!" He yelled as he leapt out from the brush at Julius his stake raised to impale his skull. Or it would have if a body hadn't suddenly crashed into his own sending him tumbling to the ground.

Struggling losing his grip on his weapons he quickly rose up as who had tackled him down brought their fist down to his face causing everything to go black for a moment before his vision cleared up. As he quickly dodged out of the way of the next attack from the vampire he glanced to see Julius glancing to the pond worriedly.

Forcing himself to look momentarily taken down he lied there as the man on top of him slowly got up. "Jadamine said you were going to need help, and from the looks of things she seemed to be half right about it." The man said to Julius as he pulled two guns from his sides.

"And Angelica?" Julius asked worry more than evident in his voice. Who was this Angelica? Was it the girl that he was just with? Or was she someone completely different? It surprised him in all of his years being a hunter to see that another vampire would care about someone from another house so much. Or at least spare the time to worry about their life.

"Angelica is fine, I was told to come help you and get you out of here. Lets get our asses moving before this guy or any of his friends become a worse problem than they already are." Drevan said hurriedly as he pointed one of the guns at Mathias who was beginning to tense up to the point he might actually form a diamond within himself.

Knowing he was outnumbered and out powered Mathias laid there taking the chance he was being given to survive. But his common sense would have to take another back seat for the moment as he cleared his throat before speaking. "We may not have the chance to take down two vampiric lords tonight. But at least we will be getting the chance to take one down." He spoke chuckling a bit as he looked at the two. Killing two vampire lords would have been the icing on the cake for Mathias. Especially in the hunter community who would have taken that as a major blow to the vampires. Them knowing that one hunter was apart of taking down two vampire lords? After having killed an elder by himself? The perfect scarecrow for them.

"We have to get to Jadamine now!" Julius yelled out as he ran through the hole in the brush that was made during the combat as the man followed reluctantly behind him. Closing his eyes he strained his hearing as he listened to them hurry away. Once he was sure they were far enough Mathias slowly stood up and walked over to the edge of the pond as he looked out to see who was over there. As he looked he squinted some as he looked about seeing no one as he pulled his binoculars out of his pouch looking deeper as he saw two black hooded figures. With the insignia of the vampiric council draped on the middle of their garb as they both had aimed crossbows at him.

Crap. Mathias thought as he quickly turned and began to run himself as things slowly began to become more confusing. Why was members of their council wanting to kill two vampire lords? The thoughts raced through his head as when he crossed the threshold of the hedge he felt a piercing pain in his leg causing him to fall slamming into the ground hard. Quickly glancing down to his leg he saw the stake the protruded from it with a note. Grabbing the note he opened it and read the two words that were on it. Run or Die.
